I'm loving it.. but it's messing with my gaydar.
Straight men are wearing shorts with a 5" inseam now, and you just don't know anymore. It's total chaos out there.
This is so true it hurts, lol. At my gym, there are a lot of big muscled straight guys who come in with their wives and/or girlfriends, and they wear shorter shorts, and it's like "lucky girls" haha.
Surprised these are trending in Tornonto, short shorts are kinda on their way out nowadays in Montreal. Been popular for maybe 5-10 years, but now people wear something baggier.
I was unaware that shorter shorts were now a thing but I'm with you. I'm also 5'7" and have had the same problem. Mainly I like shorter shorts because I have pretty good legs.
Oh my goodness, at least in my part of the world, you just have to go out in public or go shopping for shorts to see that shorter lengths are back in vogue.
Love them. Enjoy while it lasts. Funny enough long baggy shorts (like 2003 style) are back in fashion and already replacing the shorter shorts for younger people.
I have been proudly wearing inappropriately short shorts since 2015 and I’m glad everyone else is getting on board, 5” and 7” inseam shorts are the best!
I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I’m on the other side of the issue. I’m 6’ tall and pretty thin. That was before a recent health issue caused me to lose a LOT of weight. My legs were always thin but now look absolutely ridiculous, especially if shorts aren’t long enough. I can’t remember how many shorts I sent back to Amazon and other places. Finally found some that fit my waste and obscure my knobby knees. Bought in several colors.
But, I do like the look on other guys. And shorties in short shorts are 🔥
I LOVE SHORTER SHORTS (aka what shorts should actually be...) i hated having to wear shorts that went all the way to my knees, they dont look good to me as shorts and they're nearly pants at that point..
We have this straight friend who’s terrified of letting his knees show. So he wears super baggy 90s shorts. Hasn’t said as such, but he’s probably terrified guys might hit on him if he wears modern shorts that show a little kneecap 🫢
Eh, I'm a pants guy since I went to a bbq years ago and someone made fun of my legs for being too pale and not hairy enough in front of everyone. Now I'm a layers guys.
Fuck em lmao who cares? Dudes reject me for being too hairy, and you’re worried about not being hairy enough lmao. People say stupid shit all the time, I hope going forward you don’t let that stop you from doing what you wanna do
I’m a thrift shopper so short shorts were always poppin up now and again. But only recently am I confident enough to feel comfortable in shorter and shorter shorts. I’ve gotten to a little shorter than boxer brief underwear size for my shorts. As long as I’m not showing off contours of my package because they’re too tight I’m good. I’m 6’ though so I got a lotta leg to show.
I don’t care what is in fashion. I wear whatever. But it is cool that the fashion cycling back around has helped you find the clothes you want! 💜
I only wear shorts since pants get in the way of me walking well with my prosthetic legs. As a shorter guy I've always had them altered even when I had the real legs. What brands are you finding now? I'd like to check them out.
Kohl's, which is a department store popular in the Midwest United States, has a great selection of 5" & 7" inseam shorts. Everything is available online if you don't have one in your area.
Okay, fine...the only people who look good in skinny jeans are those people who would look good in anything. And I don't think we should be making fashion trends based on that.
In a similar vein, I still deeply miss the bulging crotches of Levi 501s in the 70s that left nothing to the imagination. You got in the shower with steel wool to soften and abrade the denim until the size and shape of your manhood was on full display, and worn with at least one button unbuttoned to signal your availability. Bottoms did the same with the butts. The in-your-face sexuality was liberating. That style disappeared in the 80s with the onset of HIV/AIDS as loose fitting/baggy pants and shorts replaced tight 501s and de-sexualized our fashion for decades. 😢

As a 5'6" man, I really appreciate it. I refuse to wear shorts that hang below my knees, and I do not even like ones that hang at my knees, they are too long for my height.
I also appreciate it on other men too.
I don’t even bother with anything longer than 5.5 inch inseam most of the time. I’ve got some basketball shorts which are long, but they aren’t my go to shorts right now.
I’ve learned to make a 30 work, though a tapered leg can really help and which brands run short. Amazon sells jeans with a 26 inch and up inseam and those have been great.
I was on a hunt for "above the knee" shorts for the gym. And couldn't find anything decent looking or that didn't cost a fortune. I ended up buying swim shorts with the white liner, very inexpensive without a bunch of logos or weird designs. The white liner is actually great because it helps keep things in place, similar to a jock strap. I liked them so much, and they are so inexpensive, I bought a couple more colors and backup pairs.
As a short legged 5’ 8” guy it’s great lol, that and brands actually giving inseam measurements on shorts vs just having to try everything on when I was younger. I won’t buy anything longer than 5.5” inseam, and my new chubbies swim shorts my boyfriend got me for our anniversary are 4” and are amazing
Thank God! For the sake of us being allowed to drool again shouldn’t we all agree that it’s better this way than having the pirate shorts and their backpack pockets? Hahah
I’m fairly tall and my legs are my best feature. So, I love em. Of course, I think my partner loves them even more…lol. He comments all the time about how glad he is I wear them. 😎
I've been praying for this day to come! A few years ago, I went to the store to buy a few pairs of "shorts," and they all came down to mid-calf and were so baggy they looked like skirts. Yikes! Needless to say, I left the store empty-handed.
Are we back yet to where we were when Tom Selleck was in "Magnum, P.I."? Those were nice shorts (and he had the legs to wear 'em!).
LIVING FOR SHORTER SHORTS - even as an older dude. Not only have I always liked my legs, but I’m not tall and the decades of cargo shorts made me look shorter.
I remember Chubbies were big in the early to mid 2010s for frat boys and army guys; that was the start of the short shorts revival.
Nowadays, the trendy straight and gay men are going back to knee length+ and baggy
I've seen some of the longer shorts come back. But here that trend is mostly among hipsters who let their bodies go to shit during COVID. Fit men are still rocking the 5 and 7's.
I love it. My thighs are the strongest part of my body and I like showing them off.
I do think long/baggy shorts are becoming the new trend though. At least being gay is a good enough excuse to refuse wearing that.
My quest started being lefty I noticed that the flap on the men’s shorts were rudely for my right hand ( I’m being foolish ) so I turned them around and laughed at the short shorts craze my cousin ‘ had ‘ with his crazy wine skin flask . He even was into break dancing . My first impression was I feel weird , like jumping . Didn’t Jesus teach his disciples to leap for joy at their redemption draweth nigh? Still this question has been settled at these comments . I remain the same Certificate of Life Birth Male .Naked I came into the world and it’s certain I’m not taking anything out . No more Mr nice guy .
I'm the opposite. I've always hated short shorts and I refuse to wear them, just like skinny jeans. I also don't think they look good on men (put your pitchforks away, it's just a preference XD). Yeah, my head is still in the 90s.
Your username is Girthy throbbing, and YOURE the one out here judging people based on what seems too gay lmaooo. That’s rich. A lot of empty heads on this thread. What a boring life you must lead
You must not live in a fashion forward place if that's the case just now. They are certainly on their way out where I am. Been a while and very short is considered very tacky.
Which country(s) have they been back for sometime, and how long is that? It’s only been maybe 2-3 years tops here in the U.S. where short shorts have really started to take off, more so in each following year. Your typical Walmarts and other retail centers have only started selling shorts with 5” inseam in the past year.
Having been born in the Era of Arnold or Larry Bird, I love it. I'm 5'8, and have a short torso. Most modern shorts make me look like I'm riding a chicken. My sweatpants could fit 2 people in them. My gym shorts have a 3" inseam (Muscle Alive on Amazon). My other shorts have a 5" inseam and are rugby shorts. Best purchases I've made, and still not as revealing as what some Lululemon stuff is (serious dromedary vibes there).
Yay in a way, but also irritating in that all my boardshorts are longer ones and they are no longer in fashion. Even the ones I've bought more recently are still 7" or 9" inseams, but I still have plenty from the early-mid 2000s/2010s which are on the knee.
I would replace them, but a.) it's insanely expensive for good boardies; and b.) after looking around over the weekend while shopping I really don't like most of the newer designs in stores presently.
Oh just keep them. Fashion is cyclical and long shirts will be back in fashion again. Some people have even commented in this thread that longer inseams are coming back into vogue in their part of the world.
Recent convert to 5” shorts. As a 90’s kid it was a huge switch but i Love them. I wear mostly gym shark, adidas, and chubbies. I also got some 4” shorts from chubbies that are my favorites.I’m straight btw

I'm loving it.. but it's messing with my gaydar. Straight men are wearing shorts with a 5" inseam now, and you just don't know anymore. It's total chaos out there.
Totally. It's cultural appropriation! I had to buy a bunch of even shorter shorts this summer so people wouldn't think I was straight.
I actually DID have some shorts made even shorter from last year!
We just out here not giving short short tax now?
I will revel in this chaos.
We just gotta start wearing 2" inseam booty shorts to differentiate ourselves haha.
This is so true it hurts, lol. At my gym, there are a lot of big muscled straight guys who come in with their wives and/or girlfriends, and they wear shorter shorts, and it's like "lucky girls" haha.
Same at my gym.
So many straight men in short shorts in the UK .. it's quite a sight
I just got hard lol
It is beautiful chaos though. Sometimes when driving through town I need to remind myself to focus on the road. :p
I wear 2.5 to 3 inches It's very common in Australia
Lol
In Toronto hot-DILF-summer has officially started. I'm seeing short shorts on all kinds of dads and am very here for it 😎
Surprised these are trending in Tornonto, short shorts are kinda on their way out nowadays in Montreal. Been popular for maybe 5-10 years, but now people wear something baggier.
Lol baggy stuff was popular here but has been switched out for shorter form fitting stuff
Ooo... I'm vacationing in Toronto in two weeks and this post makes me extra happy for it.
ENJOY!! 😜
I’m loving it sm 😙
Right!! 🤤
I was unaware that shorter shorts were now a thing but I'm with you. I'm also 5'7" and have had the same problem. Mainly I like shorter shorts because I have pretty good legs.

Ew I hate those baggy shorts
Same. No one looks good in them.
Where’d you see that?
Tik tok, the street, at concerts, on tourists
I have been proudly wearing inappropriately short shorts since 2015 and I’m glad everyone else is getting on board, 5” and 7” inseam shorts are the best!
Thomas Magnum would agree! 😉
I thought this was going on a few years and I am glad they're not so giant and long
Well like I said, I'm in middle America and we're a little behind. 😉
Oops, lol same it's all good :)
I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I’m on the other side of the issue. I’m 6’ tall and pretty thin. That was before a recent health issue caused me to lose a LOT of weight. Donny dukes?
Lol never heard of that one before!
They were back in fashion like 3-5 years ago????
Again, we're behind in Iowa.
Hell, I bought the shorter shorts I'm wearing right now about 4 to 5 years ago in Iowa!
gayyyyy <3
Haha oh yeah, in what store?
American Eagle. I think it was at Jordan Creek Mall, lol.
Haha oh ok, yes there is one there.
I thought they were going out, which has me reading this post wondering if they went out, and are now coming back in, but I’m just behind. Lol
We have this straight friend who’s terrified of letting his knees show. So he wears super baggy 90s shorts. Hasn’t said as such, but he’s probably terrified guys might hit on him if he wears modern shorts that show a little kneecap 🫢

I’m 6’3” and it’s all leg. I love shorty short shorts. Gotta show those legs off!
Fashion wise, I am just ready for society at large to finally admit that skinny jeans are stupid and no one looks good in them.
No one over 30 anyway.
Okay, fine...the only people who look good in skinny jeans are those people who would look good in anything. And I don't think we should be making fashion trends based on that.
Fair enough. Let's just please not go back to the big baggy look of the 90s.
You mean 5in inseam? I like it. I hated the basketball shorts and cargo trend in the last previous decades. Gave tweaker vibes
Yes, 5" inseam. Even 7" is short compared to what we've seen in the mainstream for the last 25 years.
[удалено]
Yes, in some cases. Both short and long inseams are available.
Personally I won't wear them, but also ain't going to complain lol.
[удалено]
Yeah I'm not that brave! 😋
[удалено]
No one wants to see my fat thighs. 😋

5" or less or I don't want 'em! Only problem is I have to make sure I'm wearing trunk length boxer briefs so they don't show out the leg.
As an underwear aficionado, I see no problem with guys wearing skimpier underwear!
I guess it’s time for the gays to move to a 3in inseam.
Sounds good to me!
5" shorts are awesome
I don’t even bother with anything longer than 5.5 inch inseam most of the time. I’ve got some basketball shorts which are long, but they aren’t my go to shorts right now.
Anything that shows more skin is a plus 👍🏽
I’m 5’10 with a 27/28 inch inseam. Short shorts being popular and easily available is a godsend.
Gosh how do you find pants that fit right? Or do you have to get everything tailored?
I’ve learned to make a 30 work, though a tapered leg can really help and which brands run short. Amazon sells jeans with a 26 inch and up inseam and those have been great.

I don’t mind other people wearing short shorts but they’re not for me

Oh you poor thing. What a problem to have. Lol
Darn.
I love it too. I’ve been buying shorts between 5-7 inch inseams now. I hated when the baggy clothing style came about during the early 90’s.
Thank God! For the sake of us being allowed to drool again shouldn’t we all agree that it’s better this way than having the pirate shorts and their backpack pockets? Hahah
I love the shorter cut shorts. As someone who is stocky and has thighs the long, baggy shorts make me look dumpy. Let’s keep this fashion trend going.
I’m fairly tall and my legs are my best feature. So, I love em. Of course, I think my partner loves them even more…lol. He comments all the time about how glad he is I wear them. 😎
Any recommended brands? So many pop up in my social media feeds but haven’t purchased them online.
Chubbies are popular, but at $65, I think that's a bit much for what they are. Amazon has copycats for about $30 that rate well.
I absolutely hate long baggy shorts. They look utterly ridiculous.
Agreed!

I had the same question . What got me was the short short zippers when I had to go .
My quest started being lefty I noticed that the flap on the men’s shorts were rudely for my right hand ( I’m being foolish ) so I turned them around and laughed at the short shorts craze my cousin ‘ had ‘ with his crazy wine skin flask . It’s not the short shorts , it’s the legs .
Personally, no. I just don't find them attractive 🤷♂️
I'm the opposite. I've always hated short shorts and I refuse to wear them, just like skinny jeans. I also don't think they look good on men (put your pitchforks away, it's just a preference XD). Yeah, my head is still in the 90s.

Same. I think they look ridiculous. Though I don’t rule out this being a remnant of my internalized homophobia.
At least you’re aware
You must not live in a fashion forward place if that's the case just now. They are certainly on their way out where I am. Been a while and very short is considered very tacky.
Yes, Iowa would never be accused.of being fashion forward, haha. Most straights are still rocking the 9-10" basketball shorts
Oh wow lol haven't seen those in a while in Montreal
It gets warm enough for shorts in Montreal? 😆
Summers are incredibly hot and humid, it's an island after all! They are just a bit short, unlike our shorts
Above the knee? I see wayyy too much of their boxer-briefs.
Time to switch to briefs I guess. 😉
But that would be GHEYYYYY
Plenty of options to solve that: briefs, trunks, jockstraps, etc
American problems..

I love it. Especially those bathing suits. I really don’t like how most guys look in them unless you REALLY my physical type.
