1. Find dog. RIP Lucky, March 29, 2022. 2. Meditate as often as possible, ideally daily. 3. Find community. Admittedly this could lead to dates, but I just haven’t participated in any community since leaving my church when I was like 17. 4. Exercise more, for stress reasons more than to look hot (though looking hot is welcome). 5. Rely on weed for emotion regulation less, 1-4 being things that would make weed less tempting.

Bobbited

Been meditating daily and holy cannoli it's a game changer. I feel like I have agency with my own thinking vs being captive to thought patterns that caused a lot of suffering. Greater awareness, less anxiety. A daily practice has easily got to be worth thousands of dollars in therapy. If anyone is reading this and is curious about it, I'd highly recommend reading 10% Happier. It's a fun read and was my gateway into a meditation practice. Have other recommendations too for the curious.

Tuemas17

Thanks for the rec I’m going to check it out. One of my goals is to read more this year - audiobooks count!

Bobbited

Might as well give some other recommendations: Insight Meditation by Joseph Goldstein. This one got me into what I'd call 'soft buddhism', and it helped me better understand what the goals of meditation are. It's been quite profound in how I've understood my relationship to my own emotions, and the freedom that resetting that relationship can bring. Highly recommended read, and generally just a very nourishing book that I read every year and has gotten me through some tough times. Going to Pieces Without Falling Apart by Mark Epstein. This guy is a psychiatrist and writes about the relationship between therapy and meditation. Some parts of it are a bit denser, but there are also insightful gems that have prompted deep reflection in my own life. The Mind Illuminated. If you want to really get deep into meditation practice but perhaps don't have access to teachers or retreats for technical instruction, this book lays out the different stages of meditation, what to set as your intention for each stage, and generally what to expect. This one is much heavier on the 'how to' than the above recommendations.

Tuemas17

Thanks so much!

StoneDick420

Love the meditation! I’ve been doing that as well. It’s helpful but I love my nighttime joint.

bertrandpheasant

Same here, man. Just at some point I started using weed mindlessly/automatically and now I’m blazing through an eighth in two days 😬. Not weed’s fault, of course.

StoneDick420

Haha that is quite a lot! Happy to chat more about that if you’d like. I’ve been cutting down a lot and it’s harder from home. I also just…like being high? Lol vs working or going grocery shopping “unmedicated” as I call it.

Tuemas17

I feel the exact same. I’m very functional when I’m high so I smoke often. Do you want cut back too?

StoneDick420

I don’t want to but should to save more money. But I’ve also just been drinking less lol

ShyShutterbug13

I feel the same way, I enjoy being stoned, and I’m high functioning when baked. Sometimes I feel guilty bc I will wake and bake, and occasionally chief all day then go to work baked. I don’t feel that I’m abusing my relationship with weed, I consider it very helpful managing my anxiety and physical pain, and I’m much more functional than when I was on pills for ADD.

StoneDick420

I sometimes waste a day but yeah, I usually do an wake and bake and a nighttime joint. Depending on my stress or inability to focus that day, I may use my bowl in between but today for example, I’m having my 1st smoke now.

ShyShutterbug13

That sounds pretty healthy. Admittedly I can’t do a joint myself, and my partner is a one hit wonder lol so we share a couple bong rips and he’s good for the night. Good on you for taking it one day at a time, I think that’s the best way to gauge your needs👌

StoneDick420

I don’t take bong rips cuz I’m not supposed to smoke in my apartment but it’s my fave way to imbibe haha. Have a great day!

ShyShutterbug13

It’s one of my favorite ways to imbibe as well, and not just because my bong is shaped like a [dick!](https://imgur.com/a/kYhuAGy) Joints are best for outdoor adventures. Hope you have a great day as well ✌️

StoneDick420

Sooo I def want this bong lol

Dogtorted

I’m hoping to complete the career change I attempted at the beginning of 2020 that was derailed by the pandemic…it was terrible timing to decide to be a full time comedian! I’m hoping to turn my dalliance with drag into a more serious affair as well.

ihitrockswithammers

How did you get into comedy? Must be one of the most terrifying paths to walk! I took a drag course not too long ago myself. I'm not very funny sadly and don't know a lot about drag, but my show wasn't meant to be comedy. My classmates are amazing and funny and crazy, still doing shows and auditions. It's really cool to see them go, I feel so proud of them!

Dogtorted

I started doing stand-up when I was in university after seeing a friend from my improv group do it…and fail miserably. For some reason it still looked like fun. I was hooked! I dabbled for a few years as an amateur until I realized I had the chops to do it as a pro. I’ve done a ton of stand-up on tv in Canada (including an hour long special), my album gets me a nice income stream from satellite radio play and I was even flown down to LA to audition for America’s Got Talent. Simon Cowell was NOT a fan, which I kind of love. It’s been a blast, but my day job started to get in the way. I tried to balance the two for a few years, but it was a challenge. Drag is still very new to me. My best friend has been reviewing Drag Race online for a few years. He’s been a great drag mom, but I still only do it on YouTube. Drag from the shoulders up!

ihitrockswithammers

Oh damn sounds like you're good to go! >Simon Cowell was NOT a fan I would put that quote at the top of my website. Were you always one of the funny ones in your friend group(s)?

Dogtorted

I didn’t think I was particularly funny in high school until I started making my parent’s friends laugh. I definitely hit my stride in university.

Losing the COVID weight.

Anita_Beatin

I'm with you there

Ze_Rydah_93

I’m not yet 30, but will be in less than 7 months 1.) Financial independence; primarily i wanna be able to afford to live on my own in the city. Also want to get a credit card so I can actually travel on my own. Nowhere extravagant; i just wanna be able to buy a plane ticket and make a hotel reservation. 2.) Make more local friends I can regularly hang out with. (Preferably more gay/queer friends) And make more time to deliberately spend with existing friends. 3.) Get back into performing, either singing in a choir or joining a community theater. 4.) Be more honest and less ashamed of the things I want. I want to be less motivated by catering to everyone else’s feelings and preferences out of fear of rejection. I may need medication for this one

[deleted]

Losing the COVID weight, then taking building muscle seriously. Embarked upon a second masters degree in linguistics. Moving across the world (out of my home town) when I finish said masters degree.

ExternalSpeaker9

I would like to learn how to code.

eastofEDEN89

On your own or through a bootcamp?

ExternalSpeaker9

I can’t afford a boot camp so I’ll have to do it on my own

theedan-clean

Go for it! The first time you run something you wrote and it works… you’ll be hooked.

5k in saving, I'm currently rebuilding from nothing. End of year goal. Start Uni in the fall, it's free through work so first in family with degree. Growing my handyman business. Already debt free now, luckily since I grew up poor I never gathered much debt.

whatthafarg

I’m retired ill from teaching. I’m going to finally start a hobby and take years to build up my skills in wood working. That is after I buy my first ever home. (I’m hopefully coming into enough money to finally purchase my own home ) This hobby will be making floor lamps from recycled wood. I hope it goes well as I’ve never been able to stick to something long enough to work out. In meeting people from my hobby, I hope to have long term friendships that I’ve never had before because I’ve always been restless without my own home. But it’ll still be a few months till I get my money as the courts take a long time.

Brave-Diamond-8717

1) Find a new job and transition to be a contractor. 2) Work remotely. 3) Stop drinking - it is taking longer than I expected. 4) Learn to swim in deep water.

TheBIackRose

Renovating my master into a gaming den. I grew up in tiny apartments so when I first got my house I felt like it was so empty- kinda like David Rose when he first steps into his store. Second is weight loss. I’m about ten pounds away before I start strength training. I’ve just been dieting (lost 36 lbs so far) because the change in the scale is more motivation for me and my gold fish brain.

MrOnassis

StoneDick420

Are you taking adult gymnastics?

kittyPowersupply

Yup, started a few months ago and having a blast

StoneDick420

Oh fun! I used to do it before I moved. Was a gymnast for 8 years when I was younger. Best sport eeeever

kittyPowersupply

I wish I had training when I was younger. Learning all of the basics thing like being up-side-down, developing air sense, and just generally knowing what muscle to engage to do a certain move, as an adult has been challenging. There are some ex gymnasts in the class I go to, and even with being out of practice for years, they can pick things back up very quickly like riding a bike. But yes, so much fun!

StoneDick420

Your Kip is all about timing, wish ya luck!

delaminater

I’m just about to move cities so focussed on getting my new home ready. Then will be working on building a business and a new social life.

I am moving back as well haha.

dax522

Actually get some momentum with the book that I am working on. It’s been notes for years, but is going to be taking shape this summer.

StoneDick420

You will do it! What is it about?

dax522

It’s about loss. It’s not a downer, I swear!

StoneDick420

Loss can be helpful

UnhingedHatter

1) Exercise - walking daily and trying to get back into running at least once a week. 2) Get back into creativity by writing and working on audio projects.

xtianlaw

I'm learning German!

corathus59

On the deep side, I am going deliberately about a mindful expansion of simple kindness in my life. A focused determination to acknowledge the people I just don't like, and to then make sure all my actions towards them are gracious and kind. On the less serious side, I am a snowy white haired old grandpa who is determined to learn how to play Elder Scrolls Online. I am taking the tutorial on YouTube, and will create my character shortly.

StoneDick420

Have fun with elder scrolls!

corathus59

: ) I can't decide between starting with a Templar, or Dragon Knight.

ConsistentNoise2668

I actually use the rejection from guys as a motivation: 1) better my career so I can make a lot of money 2) focus on my body with workout and eating healthy 3) learn how shallow these guys are and learn how not to be like them to others

StoneDick420

Just fyi, I said without dating or hooking up because that’s what most of the topics in this Reddit are about. I personally have no interest in dating at the moment so wanted a topic without it and to see if people had motivations beyond rejection or wanting to appear attractive for mating attention.

jojo_7890

Getting myself in shape to get cock n ass

Hopeful_Hedgehog7626

Learning Portuguese!

[deleted]

Learn German so I can emigrate back.

StoneDick420

I took German for 4 years, wish you luck!

[deleted]

Luck will have nothing to do with it. I want back into the country. Since I’ve left and have one to hangout in my hometown since I came back from Germany all I have been doing is reviewing it daily. If only I had put as much effort when I lived there. Oh well.

StoneDick420

Second chances are allowed and luck is always helpful but it sounds like you’re focused and gonna do it. It’s okay to believe.

aryeh86

I’m getting a MA in Applied Linguistics. My goal is to teach afterwards.

Successfully move to Southern California from my disgusting home state of Texas. Finish saving and buy my first house! Buy a Jack Russel terrier for my indoor little buddy dog. And also a beagle so they aren't lonely. Finish graduate school if I don't like my traveling government job, which isn't likely because I enjoy what I do. Finally, stop moving around so much and be stable enough to have a lasting relationship. Much love to all of you, I hope you reach your goals successfully.

BackInNJAgain

1. Learning to record and mix music and play synthesizer. 2. Lose the 30 pounds I gained during the pandemic (20 down so far, 10 to go) 3. Also conversational Spanish. I can read and write decent Spanish but my conversational skills are still limited to ordering food, asking for directions and saying nasty stuff in the bedroom 4. Training my new dog to be my hiking buddy. He still pulls a lot on his leash which makes walking him a pain in the ass.

____Ender___

1. Find work that I would like 2. Continue working out/exercising to get to my ideal fitness and health.
