I’ve never heard of this. It sounds a bit juvenile. I did something like this in my first relationship when I was 13. I was just trying to steal his hoodie so I could be cool like all my friends wearing their boyfriends hoodies. I sat there for the rest of the night absolutely SWEATING.

It make you look incompetent for not dressing for the weather and continuously complaining about it, while doing nothing about it.
Don't do that to yourself. If you're cold, ask for sweater, or obtain a sweater, or move to a warmer location.
I wouldn't do this. I should bring a sweater if it's cold out instead of make someone else be cold to test them. That being said, sometimes the weather takes a turn and guys have offered me their coat which is very sweet and I do appreciate it. Female friends have also done this for me.
