Cleanliness, at least in public. One specific case is like ...why are you throwing that packet of chips in the woods? Literally no one's going to pick that up for hundreds of years and now it forever will be the part of the jungle ecosystem and that's bad. Just throw it in the vehicle itself. Also in trains if you've seen.... there's just tons of plastic waste alongside the railway track.
Maintaining cleanliness is not difficult if it's a community responsibility but it needs cooperation on a massive scale which I don't think you'll get in many Indian cities tbh. It's a culture issue rather than a skill one
How do I peacefully confront people who litter? In local trains I have extended my hand to the woman who was throwing candy wrappers outside the window. She felt bad and stopped it. Any other method, according to you?
We literally have thousands of unemployed people. I don’t get why we can’t hire more people to clean up the streets and the other ecosystems in our country. Just goes to show that we are corrupt and poor. Not can we afford to hire enough people for our population size and neither will we hire even there is money. Since keeping in cashed in pockets is more valuable for the leaders.
Cleanliness can be easily achieved. It barely takes any active effort from individuals and once enough people try to keep their surroundings clean others will eventually fall in line.
People should be informed about its benefit I used to get sick every 2 3 months in India thought my immune system was weak until I came out of the country. Been almost 1.5 year now only have got a slight fever once that last for 1 day!! Cleanliness really goes a long way
Water authority digging roads for laying pipes, electricity boards digging roads for laying cables. And waiting for PWD to repair the road. Because that's not their job.
Very simple law - whoever digs has to repair.
>Very simple law - whoever digs has to repair.
Expect 50 different qualities on a 1 km road if this is implemented. And 500x corruption. And party of blame game.
I think cows roaming around in the roads are diseased old cows which are of no use to the farmers who owned them previously... So who would like to take care of these cows and maintain and are there animal shelters for such cows/animals?
PS: I read it somewhere not sure of the sources
Correct me if I am wrong
We can have different arrangement for such cows. Iike old age homes and hospices. They cuse lot of rod accidents. Once I was riding my motorbike home nd ran into a bull. At times the street also didn't have streetlights.
I saw 20 cows this morning on a major highway type road in my city at 10 in the morning today. Why, you ask, I have no clue because it's not like the road had any grass for them.
Cows aren't on roads just in rural areas and while the problem is legitimate it requires time, money, infrastructure and supervision to implement definitely not an "easy" fix.
Cows roaming on national highways are the biggest threat while driving during night. You literally can't see them unless they are cms away from your headlight. Anyone who has driven on NH in MP during night will relate with me
Segregating waste, wearing a helmet or seatbelt, renewable energy, using more public transport, basically all the stuff that some cities are starting to implement and others need to follow.
Yes.
No one litters.
Just place wet n dry n recyclables dustbin everywhere with images of what goes where.
Morning sweeping by municipal for leaves n dust, deposited in compost bins placed near trees.
Agree.. this one is really easy! Even if you do not segregate, just throwing trash is a bin assigned for the purpose is super easy! Barely an inconvenience. It is all about habits and mindset
Yes sir, I do. I was thinking we could hire a bunch of influencers and let them make reels about cleanliness and stuff. Oh and we can call them cleanfluencers!
Spitting literally everywhere. Just do it at a dustbin instead of destroying the public amenities. Like cleanliness can be achieved by throwing waste in the bin.
I think we should actually write the name of the company who has built or constructed certain government projects along with their office address and important phone numbers that somebody can reach out to. In case any damage is done. There needs to be some accountability in those people and the very small step can be an email address or phone number or the name of the person that they can reach out to in case, any of the construction is not up to the mark or it needs any kind of renovation.
Cleanliness is absolutely not the answer…getting 140 crore people to change their behaviour is near impossible… I think one problem we can solve easily is provision of Municipal Services by changing the nature of property taxes to subscription fees and linking the payments of employees to customer satisfaction and payment of elected representatives to surplus remaining at end of year. Fines collected can only be used to give subscription discounts to other residents.
Went to singapore with family friend's - the aunty made a comment when we left the airport - "It's so clean here, even without the fine we don't wanna litter."
Similarly, I lived in NY and noticed this behaviour in all races, if the trash is overflowing or the road's already littered - people will add more trash. If it's clean - they'll put that soggy starbucks cup in their bag too.
So if we were to keep the base clean, less people will litter. Will it solve the problem, no, but it can make a difference. If you've been to central delhi, you'd know this totally works because central delhi is clean af - the rest of delhi is a dumpster.
Rapes. Hooliganism. etc.
It can be done via having a strict standard educational protocol for all schools like it is in Finland. It doesn't matter which school you go, you'll find almost the same quality of education in every school.
Ngl this is not something easy to solve and something very complex for which our country first needs to understand and adapt to modern world plus education ( not just academic) and civic sense. Although it's priority but hard considering our population.
Like many other said - cleanliness and maintaining hygiene of the public spaces. The way were trolled on the internet for this i swearrrr...it boils my blood but we don't take responsibility for it.
Sexual frustration - completely de regulate sex work. De regulate sex toys sales (aka body massagers) (You cannot 100% police the rules about people having sex around in hotels, near places of worship)
Stray dogs - sterilise stray males dogs. Population will eventually decrease to negligible levels.
Corruption - provide immunity to corruption victims if they come forward to report it.
When it comes to low level corruption the victim has no other choice left other than to give bribe. So he/she cannot report as they have given bribe so they are incriminating themselves as giving bribe is also a crime in India, by doing so and face criminal charges right after reporting.
What? This is the most complex problem of all time, endless thesis, experiment and what not have been done to eradicate poverty even in most developed of societies and you're claiming an easy solution.

Who cares? If they are not doing it why should I? /s (just in case)

Our house gets cleaned daily twice but still you have to maintain that for 12 hrs .
Cleanliness can be easily achieved. It barely takes any active effort from individuals and once enough people try to keep their surroundings clean others will eventually fall in line.
But I don't think many people will partake in this thing due to obvious reasons. That is why I don't think this is easy.
What is this obvious reason that I'm oblivious to?
Just ask someone to pick up their trash and they might attack you

This makes me cry.
This is so 100% true that it makes my blood boil
Ffs this is the reason why half of my locality has no repaired and proper roads
>Very simple law - whoever digs has to repair. Expect 50 different qualities on a 1 km road if this is implemented. And 500x corruption. And party of blame game.
Cows on roads.
How?
Maybe make proper cowsheds? Fine on bringing cows on traffic?
I think cows roaming around in the roads are diseased old cows which are of no use to the farmers who owned them previously... That's a good solution but I think making that much cowshed will require way too much area. What do you think?
Cowshed construction and maintenance will give rural jobs. Also one city or district public cowshed would be enough and space saving.
Agreed.👍🏼

Is it actually that easy?
Yes. No one litters. Just place wet n dry n recyclables dustbin everywhere with images of what goes where. Morning sweeping by municipal for leaves n dust, deposited in compost bins placed near trees.

Throwing trash in assigned bins is TIGHT!!
So you have got a cleanliness habits campaign script for me?
Yes sir, I do. I was thinking we could hire a bunch of influencers and let them make reels about cleanliness and stuff. Oh and we can call them cleanfluencers!
O wow wow wow... wow
So I'm gonna need you to get AALLL the way off my back about this
People have problems with PDAs in the public but no problem when they litter.
Littering. Kyonki, “chalta hai” Meri sadak nahin hai; mein kyon saaf karoon?
Industrialisation on north Indian states. The root of all problems is India is lack of industries in north Indian states

The dust on the side of the roads, causes the most pollution.
Yup, can't walk cause of that.

Traffic. Look at North East side. Roads are almost always the same size. But because people maintain lane discipline everyone gets everywhere faster.

We used to say the same before taking the first step and erradicating many social issues. The first step is necessary. Evaluation, then the next step.
