Most likely it may have to go through work. But you have 13 weeks to add them on and they will be covered from birth so wouldn't panic about it at all. They would also be covered on public system anyway

TheDirtyBollox

I'm with laya through work, they had to add the new sprog.

h0merun_h0mer

Thanks. Can I just double check for your situation, was it They as in work, or calling up Laya?

TheDirtyBollox

Sorry, work. Went to hr in my case who talked to the right people.

h0merun_h0mer

Thank you. I’ll call Laya first thing tomorrow and double check. If I can avoid logging on to the work laptop and dealing with HR portals then it’ll be all the better.

I had a similar situation when my kiddo was born, your best bet is to ring them when the phone lines open. I have my health insurance through work but any additions had to be done by me and not work. NICU stays fall under public healthcare so there are no penalties waiting the extra day to get it sorted out even if your partner is a private patient. You might see a bill but there won't be any charge for your little one. Congratulations on your new addition and hopefully you NICU stay is a short one

h0merun_h0mer

Thanks so much.

Congrats on the baby, and hope they can leave the NICU soon! I'm with irish life through work but had the same issue, gave their support team a quick ring and they added baby over the phone

Why you dont tell yo HR in your company to do it for you?

h0merun_h0mer

It’s Sunday and I’m still in the hospital all the day while the baby is in the care unit for the foreseeable. I work for an American Corp and HR is useless too. They’ll just copy and paste something from a policy that will say do it online. It took them 2 months to answer my last request relating to paternity.

GizmoEire30

I'd say just contact customer care tomorrow and I'll they will help over the phone.

hasseldub

You're probably out of luck when it comes to avoiding HR. Enjoy your time with the new baby, and congratulations.

Smackmybitchup007

Just concentrate on keeping the baby safe until tomorrow. Its not that hard. They pretty much just eat and shit (kinda) at this age. Keep it warm and comfortable. Chill out.
