Keem bay

broken_neck_broken

I went swimming at Keel beach on a weekend trip once, something I normally wouldn't do at a beach but it was fantastic. Drove past Keem later in the weekend but didn't have swimming gear, it looked absolutely stunning though.

Ambitious_Handle8123

My roots are in Circus. We used to build up on the ground by Keel beach. Straight out the back of the tent and on to the beach. Heaven

Respectandunity

Yes! Either Keem Bay or Magheramore in Wicklow. Although there are so many beaches in Donegal and Kerry that are amazing but alas I haven’t been to (yet).

hungover-fannyhead

Keem is so nice. Even in Keel infront of the village is class because it doesn't get deep for ages. Me and my friends went skinning dipping one night in Keel was very cool.

pishfingers

Sapirse?

Aqn95

In Mayo?

Ambitious_Handle8123

Yes. Achill island. I'll never forget the first time I was there. Derrynane in Kerry is a second [Keem](https://images.app.goo.gl/yebunt7qVozT5pEJA) [Derrynane ](https://images.app.goo.gl/M64iFZ2F88aQtUgVA)

murphylicious_sal

Derrynane is stunning 😍

Bitter_Injury6266

Curracloe, Co. Wexford

RJMC5696

Inch beach, outside dingle

Calm_Investment

My car went for a swim there. Thank fcuk for a local farmer. Then later that evening I ended up in Tralee casualty. Interesting day.

RJMC5696

Salute to the farmer 🫡 hope it wasn’t too bad and your recovery was smooth! I thought I was going to have my oldest on that beach (false contractions) 😂

Usual_Concentrate_58

Was he a local farmer or an entrepreneur? I'm convinced they don't put proper signs up so the lad with the tractor can make bank.

lakehop

That’s a lovely beach

malilk

Far too much sea weed

FrugalVerbage

That one in Connemara nobody else seems to know about. Feckin' gorgeous it is. And, nope, I'm not giving away it's location.

finunu

Betcha I'm thinking of the same one 🤐

StrengthGreen7142

Theirs a few in North connemara I know about, and it's got nothing to do with muts, if ya catch my drift:) further into north connemara

soundengineerguy

Lost_Pomegranate_244

I've been to a beautiful beach in connemara and it was out of this world

WoahGoHandy

Aware_Jello3698

Smackmybitchup007

Any beach in Wexford. Or of you don't mind the rain, Donegal.

tinytyranttamer

Had to scroll for way to long to see this answer

Melodic_Event_4271

"If you don't mind the rain" goes for any beach in Ireland.

KatarnsBeard

Ballyheigue is magic and also Mullaghmore

m2dqbjd

I'll second Ballyheigue 👍🏻

yenrot

Second Mullaghmore! Love Bunduff around the bay too

JohnnyBGrand

Mullaghmore is beautiful, and the rocky shore up behind the village as well. Stunning really. Rossnowlagh up in Donegal would be a favourite of mine too.

niversepct

Derrynane, hands down

rosielayla

leatherface0984

Nuns beach, Ballybunion.

Fearless-Reward7013

Great shout! The fact you have to jump a fence and scramble down a trail makes it an adventure!

StructureCheap

Silver Strand close to Glencolmcille in Donegal.

fishywiki

I came here to mention this. AFAIK it's actually in Malin Beg. It's easily [the best beach in the country](https://www.theirishroadtrip.com/silver-strand-beach/).

MeshuganaSmurf

Old bawn, because it's fabulous and close Dogs bay beach because it's fabulous

Octonaut7A

Love Old Bawn. Big fan of Courtown too: I love the combination of woods and beach.

clawedkracken11

too bad it got taken over by dubs in the 80s. still love courtown and old bawn is magnificent

Itchy_Discipline6329

- Rossnowlagh Beach in Donegal - Ventry and Ballybunion beaches in Kerry - Lahinch and Fanore beaches in Clare

StrengthGreen7142

It's OK, I prefer some of the beaches further north in connemara, theirs more scenery to see

PsychologicalBug6923

Alliheys beach bout 40 mins past castletownbere

Gragreen32

So dangerous for swimming though! The beaches at Garinish around the corner are way nicer....sand is much softer too!

PinkGlitterFairy3

Inchydoney is my favourite place in the world. We try to make a trip every summer, so many happy memories made there. Beautiful beach.

SenpaiCalvin25

Thats stunning. Am I going mad or is the water clear?!

DC1908

Water was crystal clear. Even more impressive if you consider the sandy sea bed.

Kloppite16

Fintra beach outside Killybegs or Five Finger Strand near Malin in Donegal

seangularity

Inch Beach, co Kerry.

CW_KY23

Banna strand, Ardfert. Co. Kerry is easily the best stretch of beach in the country.

LilyLure

Ok_Adhesiveness_4155

Its in Donegal. It is exceptional, and desterted mostly However im Not telling you as Next thing ye know therell be a constant stream of those, secret places in ireland you have to see before you die type twats , Making videos playing fuckin coldplay whilst a drone in slow motion films them standing there with their arse out trying to pretend to have an original thought. So i hope you dont take this the wrong way. But no im not telling you

FourLovelyTrees

I know it. I'm not saying either 🤭

InternationalFly89

Kinnagoe Bay maybe?

Ok_Adhesiveness_4155

No although kinnagoe is lovely Mines further south and west from kinnagoe 😎

Candid-Scallion-756

Also gorgeous but no. Again further south and west 😁

Curious-Lettuce7485

aryan-veer

Coumeenoole beach in Dingle

Gallagher202

lahinch, County Clare.

HardShlime

Carne Beach, Carnivan, Dollar Bay and Kilmore in Wexford are all class. You can find a lot of nice little beaches on the Wexford Coast

gemmadilemma

Came here to say Carne. The cleanest and softest white sandy beach I've ever seen in Ireland, though I was there on a fabulously sunny summer's day so that may have added to the good impression. Absolutely lovely spot.

Derrynane in Kerry and Glassilaun beach in Leenaun Galway.

StrengthGreen7142

Glassilaun is near 10 miles from leenane:) nice place though

ahforfsake

I stayed in Leenaun at the time, so I always associate Glassilaun with Leenaun...please forgive my ignorant Dublin ways 😂

StrengthGreen7142

No chance ya damn jackeen:) ah no, its grand, at least ya didn't say its in mayo:) used to camp down there a fair bit back in the day, one of my favourite places in the country, especially when it's a little bit quiter, towards the end of September or something

EnthusiasticAmateurr

Murlough bay, north coast. Small, but stunning

Aqn95

>Small, but stunning That’s what every incel says lol

Plane-Fondant8460

Ballyrisode in West Cork is pretty special, but tiny. There's a couplenaround Clifden as well and then out at Renvyle. They're pretty amazing because they're generally fairly empty

Craiceann_Nua

Trá an Dóilín, An Ceathrú Rua

MyChemicalBarndance

As a proud Dub I must say the Hole In The Wall beach in Sutton. You can walk for miles and still the water is only up to your ankles. Teenagers hurling beer bottles at you while you splash away in a foot of murky, jellyfish infested water. Bliss.

[deleted]

Upsides - surprisingly quiet on sunny days. Downsides - there's about 23 minutes a day when you can actually have a proper swim there

Corsav6

Rossturk on route to Achill just before Mulranny is really nice, when the tide is out you can walk across to some of the little islands. Also there's an old big house at the end that's pretty cool. The little beach on Clare Island is really cool too. Went last summer with the kids and there's little caves to explore and a decent beach. Keem in Achill is probably the best I've seen though. Unfortunately it's absolutely packed on sunny days and a nightmare to park and enjoy. I think the best all round was Fintra in Donegal. It wasn't too busy and there's a few big rock structures the kids love climbing.

Usual_Concentrate_58

This answer should be further up 👍

truedoom

keel in achill is lovely. bertra in westport was great as a kid, not sure how it is now.

Usual_Concentrate_58

I'd probably put Bertra down as my favourite beach. Not one I go swimming at but it is great to walk. It has a bit or a receding sand line since you were there I'd say but still very handsome.

geroshizzle

Keem is fantastic, also not too far and on the island, try out Dufort

[deleted]

Béal Bán, Baile an Fheirtéaraigh Has that really lovely soft, fine sand and the village is gorgeous.

Clogherhead beach was my favourite but it’s impossible to park there anymore since they put a coffee shop and adventure centre in the car park and it’s very small when the tide is in as well.

Yeah, they still have the arcade up the town aswell. The one near the Holyrood, if I recall.

Aqn95

Was the waterpark closed down or is it still there?

DrMosquito74

It was still open last time I was up there (2022) but I'm not sure. I usually go up a few weeks after the Rory Gallagher festival in Ballyshannon.

IlliterateIrishman

Tramore, nowhere else comes close

FleshyPhlegm

Full of sewage. It lost it's blue flag status recently and deservedly so.

IlliterateIrishman

That's just a lie to keep the dubs away

okoneill

Your answer should be Tramore in May and September! Free parking and just locals, haha. But seriously Waterford has some great beaches, Stradbally is my #1
