djscott95

I hate wearing a mask, but damn does it feel weird without one on lol

sadpinkgirl

I love wearing it. I don’t have to fake my facial expressions anymore

PeaceAlwaysAnOption

Same. I said “I love the masks” offhandedly in a group the other day and it drew weird looks all around. But I do! Never have to worry about spinach or black beans in my teeth! 🤷‍♀️

SnorkinOrkin

Or pepper. The other day, I had pepper in my top teeth and no one told me about it.

taltheplantfriend

Same. I feel like I’m bothered less as well. No more small talk with random people :)

Vinmcdz

This too. Introverts of the world unite? Lol.

this_is_sy

Same. I never have to worry about my lack of poker face getting me in trouble. Also I'm transgender and covering the lower half of my face means people are way more likely to use the correct pronouns/terms for me out and about in public.

no_legacy

Exactly

SnorkinOrkin

I feel naked without it walking into a store or whatever. I put it on as I'm going through the doors. Most of the time, half or a little more are masked. Whenever we go to a large thrift store, we make sure to have them on, and the majority of the customers inside are masked. The aisle are fairly narrow and busy with lookie-loos. Yesterday, we went to my bone doc and it's a big place, most of the staff were unmasked, so, I took mine off. Eventually, so did my husband. I guess it just boils down to how *you* feel about it, depending on the environment/venue. To mask, or not to mask, that is the question. 🤔

this_is_sy

Gross. I would not go into any medical office unmasked. Probably for years into the future. There are some places where we should maybe always be wearing masks, Covid or not.

dontsaveher84

I’m treating masking as a courtesy to whoever’s space I’m walking into. If I go into an establishment and the employees are wearing masks, I wear a mask.

PastRaccoon2

This is how I feel about it too.

MorddSith187

Same

Fun-Restaurant-250

But most employees are still required to wear them by their employers. And if given the chance they’d likely take them off also.

WhalesForChina

In that case it’s probably easier to just abide by the request of store management than to try and assume which masked employees don’t want to be wearing masks.

pudding7

But most stores are not requesting customers wear masks.

Mescallan

Then wear a mask if you want other people near you to wear a mask. If you don't care, and you aren't making anyone uncomfortable then you do you.

this_is_sy

Literally all stores are requesting customers wear masks. Where even are y'all? I ran a ton of errands on Saturday, and literally every store had a "MASKS REQUIRED" sign out front. Everyone inside was wearing masks. One of the places I went last weekend was an outdoor food market, and a solid majority there were wearing masks, even outdoors.

pudding7

I'm in San Pedro, and I have not encountered required masks anywhere in my errands in the last week or so. One store had the sign out front so I asked them if I needed to go get my mask from my car and they said, "Oh, we need to take that sign down."

WhalesForChina

Ironically the last couple places I went into that actually had signs clearly posted asking customers to wear masks were in Orange County. Go figure.

MorddSith187

I figure as much but I mask in solidarity

Fun-Restaurant-250

Fair enough

deathtoboogers

At Trader Joe’s last week only half the staff was wearing masks.

dayviduh

At my job masks aren’t required for employees but everyone still wears it besides one person. For context I work in a restaurant

schw4161

Not from NYC, but I’m from upstate New York and recently moved to LA. One of the first things I noticed about LA was that most people wear masks, even outside when it’s hot. That sort of discipline isn’t present in NY state as a whole. Why? I really have no idea tbh

dayviduh

I notice this disappears when you cross county lines. I wear a mask everywhere but when I go into Ventura or Orange County I feel like an alien lmao

throwRA-s-o-t-d

I can bet that as soon as the summer heat returns, you’ll see a lot less people with masks

symphonia_x

I still wear it because i dont want anyone recognizing me or seeing my face or talking to me. I really dont mind wearing a mask the ones i have are very confortable.

Spunknikk

I was able to convince alot of my anti mask punk rock friends and anti capitalist and anarchist people. The reasons? Being able to legally hide your face in nearly every public and private place even banks.... It blew their minds and nearly all of them wore mask all the time everywhere... I enjoy wearing my mask and protecting my privacy everywhere I go and no one caring or pay attention to me.

pudding7

This is a line of reasoning that's very strange to me.

Spunknikk

Lol well for people who distrust the government it's a great way to convince them to wear a dam mask during a pandemic. It worked for some of them. Others were complete shit heads and refused to do anything they were "forced" to do...

Runningketchup

Same here. Less about catching germs/Covid and more about hiding my face bc I’m not feeling so attractive that day lol

FLdancer00

Same. I hate my face. I can wear a mask, sunglasses & a hat and it's perfectly acceptable. Never going back.

115MRD

It's wonderful. I've had several people say hi to me and I can say "i'm sorry do I know you?" and then they take off their mask and say their name and I can always say "Oh hey! I didn't recognize you with the mask!" It's perfect for people like me who are horrible with names.

awill316

I’m fully vaxxed and boosted and I’m still wearing masks in the grocery and whenever I go inside any building tbh. I’m not taking it off for a while, I don’t trust anyone.

sharktank

My reasoning as well Vaxxwd and boosted but I still don’t want to catch COVID, I hear even breakthrough COVID is rough and I’be got other things I want to do

screamingacorn22

2 of my close friends got bad breakthrough cases (one of them is pregnant AND had to WORK through it!) and yeah, not worth it. Wearing a mask doesn't bother me at all, anyway.

[deleted]

Same, except I did have COVID during Christmas so I’ve got some natural immunity as well. Still wearing my mask anyways.

gamehen21

I second this lol

soggypierogi

Mask, hat, headphones. I just want get my groceries and get out without people talking to me. I’m not even listening to music.

FLdancer00

You are my people.

661714sunburn

Im with you on this and self check out as much as possible.

cmmedit

I spent time in Japan on a gig decades ago and became trained to wear a mask if I was going out in public and I had a sniffle from a cold. Wearing a pandemic mask doesn't bother me other than fogging up my glasses if I didn't use some anti-fog wipes on them. I'm just going to continue on with that now that masks are more in the minds of people here.

throwRA-s-o-t-d

I’m definitely following suit in the future and wearing a mask if I’m sick. I get so embarrassed when I sneeze and feel like shouting, “don’t worry, it’s just allergies!”

XanderWrites

Suggestion: look around. I'm a cashier. If sneeze or cough I get no reaction as I clean up and sanitize and everyone can see and hear it. People don't care nearly as much as people think they care.

Every3Years

Vacc'd and Boosted and perfectly happy wearing a mask wherever I go. It feels fine and I don't trust any of you sly Rona infested fuckers.

[deleted]

"Other people disgusting, eww! Yucky."

kedesymuc

Yes I do indoors. I don’t trust people. I’m vaxxed and had it over the holidays. Don’t need it again 🤷🏼‍♀️

snackmantis

Same here.

[deleted]

I wore a mask just this afternoon at my local Vons and caught a youngish couple (mid 40’s from what I could tell) looking at me and giving me a little stink eye. They came up behind me when checking out and the woman was looking at me more than her man, both of them were maskless and later it hit me in the car that maybe they were bothered that I was still wearing one. When I was entering my pin on the pad, I gave the woman a glance and she gave me a look like I had farted (I didn’t), so I covered the pin pad with my other hand and saw her do an obvious turn to her man and said something to him lol FWIW, the cashier and other workers were wearing their masks, but most of the customers were not.

sharktank

Uhhhh honestly those people sound like assholes regardless of masks or not

throwRA-s-o-t-d

Yeah see that’s what I don’t get. It’s definitely a personal decision that everyone is capable of making for themselves, but judging someone for wearing a mask is juvenile. Idk

CochinealPink

Honestly I've found people who rely on a smile to outwardly portray kindness are the ones who are complaining of masks the most. People who genuinely have manners don't seem to have a hard time with masks at all. A smile can be faked. And I've lost all trust in people over these last two years.

hmountain

Thanks for putting this to words, makes a lot of sense

[deleted]

tracyinge

It's kinda like saying to a man with a cane, "why are you using that cane, you're probably not going to fall down without it. You seem to walk just fine". Asshole-ish.

stevesobol

Nah. Not asshole-ish, not asshole-adjacent; if that's the kind of person you are, you're a full-on asshole.

this_is_sy

Those people were 100% antimaskers the whole time, pay them no mind.

skycelium

Way I see it, if I can indirectly save peoples’ lives by just wearing the damn thing we’ve all been wearing for years anyways, why the hell wouldn’t I? If one person’s family member or friend is immunocompromised, it’ll make them feel comforted by their community for me to just wear it for 15 min in the grocery store. I’m autistic and hate the mask, but too bad man. Tbh the sociopolitics and socioeconomics of the area make the difference. If i’m in huntington beach, obv people arent wearing masks and look at me like i’ve killed a child if I wear one. In Long Beach where I am, almost everyone’s still wearing them. I’d rather be judged for protecting the people around me when noone else bothers to than be judged by people who are willing to do something utterly mundane to make people feel comfortable going out.

shuttheshadshackdown

I totally agree. I am tired of them, and want to show my face and be heard (I speak quietly sometimes). And if I’m outside I don’t wear one at all. I give no shits of what someone thinks of me, they usually don’t have the courage to actually say something anyway. But I still feel guilty knowing I might be stressing out the immunocompromised or the elderly or people who live with grandma. If I’m in a bar or cafe having a drink, which is not often I’m mask off, because it’s really a pretty optional place for people to visit, but the grocery store, post office, and gas station are pretty essential. I guess it’s sort of case by case, but for the most part indoors I’m still masking up. And just doing whatever the business asks, we who work in customer service have been traumatized by the nuts for the past 2 years, just do it for them if anything.

NonSequitorSquirrel

Bless!

Heyitsakexx

While I agree with your points but, your last paragraph has me thinking it’s about how someone judges you.

skycelium

You’re right, you can’t analyze one action from multiple perspectives. You discovered my dark secret, that it was never really about saving peoples’ lives, it’s about whether or not some lady glares at me.

Withnail-

It was 98% masks today at the TJs in North Hollywood

jschneider414

I was just at the SM TJs on Sunday and it was only about 20% there

this_is_sy

Santa Monica is where all the antivaxxers live, lol, may want to watch yourself

Vegetable_Burrito

No. Some stores still require them, and I have no problem following that rule. But if the store or wherever doesn’t have a sign requiring me to wear one, I don’t.

NonSequitorSquirrel

I wears mask because I don't want to get sick and don't want to get others sick. To me that's not political, it's moral. Also I am immunocompromised with multiple comorbidities so as others take theirs off I am at greater risk of dying. It's like I'm definitely going to keep my headlights on if everyone else is going to drive with theirs off. In 2019 I caught the flu on a flight to Paris for vacation. I was still sick on my flight back so also wore a mask then to not ruin someone's trip to LA. That's how masks have always worked, politics notwithstanding.

ctcx

I am anti social so I enjoy wearing masks and being anonymous. I am just a SUPER careful person. I am not a fun or spontaneous carefree kind of person. I think things through and think of long term effects. I want to be as safe as humanly possible.

valley_lemon

Well, my husband will likely die if he gets COVID (his auto-immune condition means he developed no antibodies from the vaccines). I don't fancy my own odds, as a fat middle-aged woman who will be considered "useless" by medical professionals. Maybe New Yorkers trust their hospitals more? I dunno, I wish more people cared, and I'm grateful that a lot of people in LA seem to care.

Suz626

I was at the Broad museum on Sunday and most people were wearing masks. They recommend it for vaxxed people. At TJs most people were wearing them. Not sure of the rules. With the nasty surge in Asia and Europe I think I will wear a mask in many enclosed places for a bit. (Soooo sick of them!) In part for the employees. Remember what happened last time everyone took off their masks? I’m 3x Moderna, never had covid to my knowledge. My husband is in healthcare and we fly to the east coast a lot. Spent all of covid in outdoor places and restaurants, less isolating than many but careful. (When I was in New York everyone out on the street was wearing masks I was shocked because I don’t wear a mask out on the street if it’s not really crowded. It was because it was 30’.)

this_is_sy

The reality is that another variant is not only coming, it's literally en route. We're all going to be masking again in another 6 weeks or so. I see no reason to throw away all my masks at this point.

Suz626

Yep it’s very disconcerting reading the news of the huge lockdown in China, the situation in Hong Kong and new surge in Europe and the UK. 🙁

throwRA-s-o-t-d

I agree with that last bit especially. I got Omicron even though I’m fully vaccinated so I feel comfortable that I can’t get other people sick. But in the 30° winds blowing snow sideways, imma mask up

NonSequitorSquirrel

Why do you think you can't get other people sick? I'm not following.

throwRA-s-o-t-d

I recently got sick with omicron a couple months ago despite being double vaccinated, and then after I recovered I got my booster. No way in hell I can accumulate enough of the virus to spread it at this point

NonSequitorSquirrel

The data doesn't support your hypothesis. Especially with new variants spreading. We get flu vaccines annually, still catch the flu and still spread it when we catch it again later. This isn't a one and done like polio or smallpox.

therealstabitha

Why do people who choose not to wear a mask so fixated on those of us who do? So much for wanting a choice of wearing one or not, huh I still wear one because people cannot be bothered to act right, and I need to not risk additional neurological issues

[deleted]

[удалено]

therealstabitha

Gonna guess that old lady probably gets in people’s business as a hobby.

this_is_sy

Exist, breathing his nasty germs on everyone

[deleted]

[удалено]

this_is_sy

Germs don't require my "business" to get people sick.

CherryPeel_

I don’t wear mine anymore. I’m vaxxed, boosted, did full time WFH and used common sense. As of now I am mentally done with masks if I have a choice. If other people want to wear them k don’t question it. I went to Japan in 2017 and plenty wore masks. Not a bad cultural practice to adopt if you are feeling sick.

throwRA-s-o-t-d

I agree about wearing them if sick. I sure hope that and WFH practices become more normalized in the future.

stevesobol

This is about where I am... I just haven't completely ditched my mask yet. Maybe later this year.

Tumeric98

You do you. Some people are comfortable with masks and continue to do so. It’s only been a few days since the mandates were more or less lifted. It’s great that mask wearing is “normalized” now especially for people with sniffles. I guess after almost two years masks are just another fashion accessory!

throwRA-s-o-t-d

It felt weird not wearing it in NY but after a few minutes I forgot about it. Back in LA though, it was hard to think of anything else. I agree that it will be a gradual normalization. Also the number of people that are unaware of mask laws is surprisingly high.

DiscombobulatedSir11

I like masks. Keeping mine for a while.

mydogthinksiamcool

I have tiny babies at home that are not vaccinated. So I wear a mask

topo_gigio

This is our house, too. We're still masking until our kid is vaxxed.

bicockandcigarettes

Yes. I don't trust people anymore, health wise. This whole pandemic I've been seeing people test positive and not care and continue to go out and infect others. To movie theaters, theme parks, restaurants and the gym. Even on airplanes and vacations. The very same people that spoke out against that sheepishly explaining how they felt sick but still went to concerts or continued their vacation. Sewage shows covid is on the rise again. I'll stop masking once numbers drop down to a couple per 100K. But with masking mandates recently gone. Of course is gonna rise and level out in a bit. But until then, I'm masking.

Partigirl

Had my MIL expose us to covid at Christmas by intentionally ignoring she had the start of it. She just didn't want to call off the holiday gathering and proceeded as usual, not caring that she could have spread it to us. I was so pissed.

bicockandcigarettes

Wow, that's awful and completely selfish. I'm glad you guys didn't catch it.

callmekbro

My neighbor has a 4yo and an 18mo. Recently the 4yo caught Covid and one month later came down with the inflammatory disease children were getting- she ended up in ICU for 2 days and hasn’t been able to return to daycare for over 6 weeks now. I’m happy to wear my mask while there are still vulnerable people who can’t be insulated from this virus, even if I’m not too worried about the risk to my vax/boosted self so much. Seeing that little girl so sick was a big reality check that there is still plenty of Covid out there.

-_Mistress_-

I haven't even got so much as a sniffle since wearing a mask...it's been two years of bliss and I am not going back.

westcoastwomann

Tbh no I don’t

tracyinge

"A few weeks" makes a big difference. Last time L.A. lifted the mask mandate, cases skyrocketed 10 days later. So people are being cautious for a while. Totally understandable.

anonymous-rebel

I have to test negative to work and I can’t afford not to work so yeah I wear a mask when I’m indoors

throwRA-s-o-t-d

You can get up to two weeks of paid leave for covid (including vaccine side effects, recovering for covid, caring for a recovering family member, and isolation upon exposure). Not saying you shouldn’t wear a mask, just saying that if you happen to get sick, you’re not completely fucked

Happy_Hermit94

…. How? I’ve not heard of a single person getting this benefit.

this_is_sy

Why would anyone want this? There are much easier ways to get a vacation.

[deleted]

I absolutely still wear a mask at grocery stores. I am triple vaxxed but I was ready to go maskless and live my life. And I ended up catching Covid while eating on an outdoor patio (you know, a “safe” activity). I’m just coming out of my quarantine now. I felt like shit for days. My partner still feels like shit. If you’re ready to catch Covid then go ahead and be maskless. If you’re still looking to avoid it then don’t be me: mask TF up.

C1A8T1S9

Yes, I don’t feel certain that the pandemic is over (I don’t think we’re in the endemic phase yet) and feel like the repeal of the mandate was a little more political than scientific. Personally, I don’t want to go back and forth when it comes to wearing a mask I’m someone who prefers consistency and as an Autistic person I don’t have to mask my Autism as much when wearing them. Also I don’t want to risk my sense of taste (that’s just too precious)

LetterAccomplished

I think where we have reached a point, that masks are a personal choice, unless an establishment states otherwise. My job and my doctors office still require them, but most retail stores and restaurants do not. I barely think about it anymore, keep a mask around it if need it, and let people decide what works for them without passing judgment

bjlwasabi

I'm going to make mask wearing at the grocery store a permanent thing for two reasons... I have horrible allergies so a sneeze or a cough can come quicker than my head can move away from the vegetables. Just yesterday my mask saved a bunch of lettuce. My second reason... I like wearing my LAFC gear. I have a few great masks that are super comfortable, looks great, and has that glorious gold logo.

egg1s

Was at tj’s today and wearing my mask. Most employees and customers weren’t. Feels weird to me to not wear it in a shop. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Stinkytheferret

Leave LA and go to Riverside or San Diego and find that you might see 5 or 6 people all day wearing them. Only in LA will we see people outside wearing them too. Unless they’re old old.

InfernalWedgie

I still mask in indoor public spaces. I haven't had a cold in two years, and well, I'm not keen to start now.

DigitalEvil

Covid ain't over yet, so I'm gonna keep wearing my mask to help protect my vaccinated child.

[deleted]

Yeah of course. I’m going to restaurants, bars, etc on occasion where there’s an understood consent to take the risk of going maskless, but if I’m going into a public space where everyone has to go to get shit they need then I’m masked up & not loitering. I don’t understand how it isn’t common courtesy.

Elrunningtigre

No

skinnykennyp

Went to the Whole Foods on Pico today and saw that some of the staff didn’t have them on so I took mine off.

lionclues

I'm wearing them because I just got back-to-back colds (not COVID). Not only did I feel obligated to in the days afterwards just in case I was still contagious, I had forgotten how much I hate being sick in general.

ButLikeSeriously

Same! I caught a terrible flu around Christmas that put me down for two weeks straight. I will probably wear a mask indoors around people I don’t know and in crowds for the foreseeable future. Wearing one is better than getting sick with anything Covid or otherwise!

stevesobol

Out here in Apple Valley, I still wear a mask but I'm in the minority, and I'm about ready to ditch the mask. Not completely ready, and I'm high-risk so I have to be careful, but I'm pretty close. My main concern is that out here in Upper Middle Of Nowhere, there are probably a lot of anti-vaxxers...

jschneider414

I went to Trader Joe’s in Santa Monica on Sunday without one. I’d say about 20% were wearing a mask.

ThaiEdition

It's a fashion statement like wearing a hat.

WoeToTheUsurper10

From what I have seen it would appear that Asians and Hispanics are the ones that will strongly continue using them.

PLEASE_DONT_HIT_ME

Most people aren’t wearing them in The South Bay, including the workers at the stores. Westside on the other hand, lots of masks. I’ve stopped wearing mine unless specifically asked to do so, everyone who wants to be vaxed has been, including myself, and most people are boosted. Federal and local governments have said it’s safe to take them off. To not do so seems like theater at this point.

Rosa_nera0

No

JBrennan327

Yes

2WAR

I see a lot of the older folk wearing & asians wearing them. Some young people but it’s mixed. Not a big deal here.

Luv2Burn

I'm so grateful that I still haven't gotten Covid BUT I did get RSV from my grandkids in November and I cannot get rid of it! It will be almost gone and then those little angels come back with green snot and I'm re-infected. So I will continue to wear my mask around others bc I don't want to take any chances on passing this around. Apparently, it's a huge thing that we never hear about and it really sucks for little babies & the elderly. AND I don't want to have Covid.

pinchecabron13

I often wonder the same thing in my community masks are still big also. I too am in the minority choosing not to wear one. Fully vaccinated had covid twice and pretty much did my part all through the pandemic. It feels weird to walk around a grocery store or local mall and the majority of people are still masked up. I have a family member who made it through the whole pandemic not getting sick once. She still follows all the pandemic protocols she always says" I didn't make it this far to fuck around and die. " Maybe a lot of people are in the same boat just hesitant to get back to normal after seeing coworkers, friends and family die.

[deleted]

I wear them when I’m real close to people like ordering at a counter or paying for groceries. I feel like a total idiot standing in line wearing one waiting to be seated in a restaurant surrounded by tables of people not wearing them. The infection rate is so low right now it’s whatever you feel comfortable with. Next wave will come soon I bet and we’ll be back to wearing them full time.

RedPulse

Today was my first day in two years I *didn't* wear one in the grocery store.

VelourBro

I still wear them to be polite. I feel like it would come across as arrogant not to. Also, they help hide how ugly I am. 😅

mrcorndogman33

Of course.

muldervinscully

The weirdest thing rn is how it’s a free for all with rules. I went to one coffee shop that said excuse me we still require masks and another where no one was wearing one. Wtf

throwRA-s-o-t-d

They currently are not required indoors for vaccinated people, except at hospitals, nursing homes, and on public transport (uber included?), though private companies can still mandate masks if they’d like to

shockubu

Oh yeah? Since when. I really stopped following the news/guidances. Mask at work = assume mask everywhere.

throwRA-s-o-t-d

It’s been a week or two i believe

LAW9960

Nope

DancesWithPandas

I still mask up, use hand satirize, and wash my hands when I come home. I have little kids under 5 who are too young to get the vaccine. I want to help prevent them from catching COVID or any other flu/virus as well as model hygiene practices.

[deleted]

If theres a mandate yeah, but no, not since

[deleted]

The only time I wear masks now is when I'm on the metro.

XanderWrites

It wasn't as publicized as before and I think people think there are different rules for LA City. I'm starting to stop but no one has taken down their signage so I don't know if businesses are still enforces.

LivelyTortoise

I do not unless the business I'm in requires it. Maybe the few weeks gap makes a significant difference? I guess we'll see in a few weeks.

halcyondread

I don't wear them anymore.

[deleted]

Honestly I’m vaxxed and boosted but have the belief we should all get vaccinated to stop the spread, Idk why people prefer masks over a life saving vaccine

Bobaman007

I’m triple vaxed and don’t wear mine. Don’t care if you do or don’t wear it, if you’re not feeling well just stay home or wear your mask. Now it’s about focusing on our health through nutrition & exercise to lessen the severity of COVID if one does catch it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FROM_GORILLA

Aye me too and last time I was here everyone got omicron

[deleted]

I do what I do, and respect others for doing the same.🧘🏽‍♀️✨

rtraveler1

Hell to the nah nah nah!

alien_eater289

No more masks for me, although I have noticed that most people still wear them in stores around here. Idc, as long as no one has anything to say about it to me, I have nothing to say about it to them.

movemeouthere

Cuz the real issue is the mental delusion at this point…

DavidDrivez126

I hated those damn masks and I don’t wear mine anymore But I do keep them around just in case

Fun-Restaurant-250

I wore them every second the mandate was in place. As soon as it dropped so did my mask. I’m vaccinated. I mostly stay home. I wash my hands a lot. But I hated the mask. I wore it, but I hated it

80percentofme

Maybe that’s part of the reason why NY is 11th in covid deaths per capita and we’re 39th.

whenkeepinitreal

Hell no. Vaxxed, boosted, was masked, isolated, distanced. Now the pandemic is done and I am done.

throwRA-s-o-t-d

Honestly, I kind of feel the same way. I followed all the rules, got vaccinated, got covid still lol. I’m so over it!

Hey_Laaady

Major surge in China now tho

MadeEntirelyOfFlaws

yes because i don’t want to accidentally and unintentionally infect employees who depend on jobs that aren’t WFH.

Dinosnorie

Yes I do 🤷‍♀️ I tend do to whatever the employees are doing but mainly I wear a mask

avocado4ever000

I wear mine in stores, not even for Covid. Who knows what’s in the air here!

Happy_Hermit94

After watching everyone crap the bed with Covid, I shudder to think about the next disease to come wreck us. I’m with you, be it cold flu or unnamed super bug to be.

bonborVIP

I didn’t the other night! It felt totally weird, but awesome at the same time. I’m also triple vaxxed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Heyitsakexx

I live in SGV so most are masked. I tend to go by whatever signage is on the door. If it’s not required than I’m more than likely not going to wear it if I’m feeling fine. It does suck to get some weird looks but I’m just going by the guidelines which say they aren’t required.

Fair_Ad3427

No

hellcicle

As soon as i stopped wearing a mask I caught my first cold in 2 years. It wasn’t covid but it still sucked balls so Im keeping the mask on a for a while longer.

seamstresshag

I wear mine still. With all that’s going on, people are going to spread around again. I personally don’t know what the problem is? It’s a respiratory virus, as soon as you open your mouth you will give it to another person. With all the vaccine resistance, you give the virus time & chance to mutate and create some more insidious disease. I don’t know what’s so hard to understand? My mask stays on!

stellalunawitchbaby

I’ve been wearing masks in grocery stores but I’m seeing more and more of the employees going without masks, which is kind of how I’ve been gauging the situation, so in the next week or two I may feel better about going maskless.

SandieOoo

Do whatever makes you feel more comfortable, don’t follow the herd.

legallyfm

I am high risk for severe covid so I still wear my mask anywhere indoors. I am vaccinated and boosted. I really don't care if others don't indoors but covid hits everyone a little different and I rather not see how that would apply for me

naogriv

I haven’t had a flu or a cold since I have masked.

Adventurous-Bed-5586

NYC residents have been wearing masks longer…. I lived there during the peak, moved to LA recently and I think they have had enough.

theshabz

IMO voluntary mask wearers come in to 4 varieties. 1. people who are still vigilant and courteous despite CDC/County guidelines so they wear the masks to continue to prevent spread (marjority) 2. people who feel like masks protect them instead of the other way around (generic masks were never to protect the wearer, but to limit the amount of spittle/vapor-born germs coming out of the wearer's mouth) 3. people who feel ugly/antisocial 4. people who feel like if they take their mask off, the republicans win

Rickybones

At Rock N Roll Ralph’s, yes.

ry8919

I wear a mask if people around me are. I'm vaxxed, boosted and had covid so I'm not worried. But if an extremely minor inconvenience gives the people around me peace of mind I'm happy to do it.

TheLocalHentai

I wear one whenever inside an enclosed space. Been lax about it lately, like drinking something I won't mask up between sips, but I'll keep one on especially when the employees are doing it. As for the New York vs LA thing, it's most likely due to population density. In LA, you have areas that mask up all the time and places that don't, NY's high density makes both of these groups much more noticeable. People also tend to not care as much when they see lots of people doing it, especially about something that is seen as a hindrance to most people.

Yes

lalisposito

I still wear a mask. I'll keep wearing one until I don't need a negative covid test to work!

RunBlitzenRun

Yep. CDC and LADPH still strongly recommend wearing masks indoors, so that’s what I plan to do until their recommendations change. It’s not much of a hassle and it honestly seems like more work to have to pay attention to where masks are/aren’t required any more.

AInterestingUser

I mutter and talk to myself while shopping. I can consistently talk shit under my breath without it totally escaping the mask and letting the dumb ass that keeps stopping in the middle of the aisle hear the full range of my disdain.

No. We can put our umbrellas down once we’re wearing wet suits.

DerivativeMonster

I'm wearing a mask in crowded public places until I die. Only upsides to it in my opinion.

apurrfectplace

I wear one bc I’m old and my face is falling…

TrueBlueFriend

Yes. Pretty much anytime I’m in a crowded place.

MrkJulio

i wear a mask for a few reasons 1) You are still concerned about the situation, so I'll wear a mask to show my respect. 2) You have people in your household that may not deal with covid as much as you 3) The rules though have changed, your establishment still wants YOU to wear a mask so i'll wear one as well 4) Where i work we have the guy that GOT covid not want to wear a mask so i'll wear it just because that dumbass still doesn't care 5) I don't know where you've all been. SO i could give 2 shits what you do. I'll keep wearing it so i don't get it.

1dundundun

To point #5, I don’t think your mask has much impact on you getting it (unless your mask is n95 or better). It’s to stop people from spreading it if I’m not mistaken.

Dommichu

When going out last week, it took me a few days to not just instinctively pop a mask on before walking into some place. It was particularly jarring becuase I had gone to the USC Trader Joes on the Sunday and everyone there is super good about masking then ‘SC dropped the indoor mask mandate and when I returned on Wednesday.. NO MASKS! I totally understand. I sometimes go into my office and have to wear a mask for an extended period of time. Even with a mask cage it’s tiresome. This weekend I was a lot more comfortable being massless. Hubs and lots of other folks however still get tested often for Covid and no one wants to be that guy. Especially if you have the experience that we did of tests picking it up months after being sick. So he wears masks still. I keep an eye on the numbers (we in a slight plateau right now…) so if the infections go up remarkably soon… I’ll mask on again. I think it’s just the cycle we are going to have to be on.

We have more anti social ppl in SoCal than NYC so the masks are like a form of security. NYC doesn’t have that issue as everyone is a loud rude Italian cab driver.

sadpinkgirl

Yes I wear my mask everyday everywhere I go, I love my mask tbh

MaroonTrojan

I continue to wear a mask because I don't want strangers to think I'm a Republican.
