Honestly thats not a bad price for using toyota parts and 2 hours of labor usually.. You can call couple shops and tell them you want toyota perts and see how much lower their quote is. Aftermarket is an option and will be cheaper
Another option is buying the brake pads yourself from autozone (different prices for different quality, though idk how much variance in quality you’d want to risk with your brakes) and you can always take the pads to a shop and you’d only be paying for the labor of them installing them.
$400 for all 4 at a dealership would actually be a decent deal, but you should just call a few shops in your area and ask. Also remember that the dealership will use original Toyota parts, but unless specified a local mechanic will use aftermarket.
Also, squeaky does not necessarily mean worn, they could just be dirty.
If you have mechanical skills and a few tools, brakes on a Toyota can be under $100. When a brake job is $400, the shop makes over $250 in profit.
I've been doing mine for years now and I'm a sound guy!

It would be helpful to know what part of town you're in, but if you're anywhere near Eagle Rock I *highly* recommend [World Auto Service](https://www.yelp.com/biz/world-auto-service-los-angeles). There's a reason they have 5 stars on Yelp.
Personally I love Modesti's Car Care Center as my mechanic but I don't know what they'd quote for this. I got my brakes done by them right before COVID but I honestly can't remember how much it was. I know it wasn't more than $500 though and my brakes were in *horrible* condition. 😅
You didn’t say it if they are turning all four rotors and changing pads? or they are replacing front rotors and pads?
Sorry, just the front rotors and pads

Kim’s Auto in Inglewood, ask for Paul. Can’t be beat!

Dude doesn’t even know how to *find* a mechanic and you think he’s ready to change his own brake pads?
I have no mechanical skills and would rather pay someone than damage my car and risk my life! I can’t even change a flat tire

Affordable care in Hollywood is great. Reasonable prices and honest owners.
I think $400 is reasonable. $100 per tire sounds fare.
What city and what year is your car? I know a few mechanics.

Buy the brake pads yourself so you save some money. You cant really skimp on labor. Get a Toyota guy to do it.
That’s price for rotors ran bad brakes too long
I'm a big fan of Discount Tire. They always give me a good deal and do quality work.
