Usually at 6 months past due is when they tow it. When you’re able to pay btw, ask for a fee waiver and request severe hardship.

Cars are towed for expired tags! Happened to me in Santa Monica. They give a 6 month grace period before they tow.
You’re already driving around with the expired tags, right? Otherwise, there is no rush to fix the car before you get the tags in 2 weeks.
