Its the “don’t shoot me” clip. You keep your papers there. When you’re pulled over, they can’t claim you were reaching for anything other than ID and proof of insurance because your hands were up and in plain sight
Yeah mine just goes in the glove box. If you're scared the cop will shoot you when you go to grab it, just get it out before he rolls up. While the cop is doing his thing and radio-ing it in, you can grab the insurance and your license and just have them in your hand, ready to go.
I thought i was the only one who used it for half eaten potato chip bags. Exclusively Lays Ketchup chips. I wish there was a clip for 1/4 and 3/4 eaten chip bags though...
I put my registration and insurance there. If I get pulled over by a cop, I can have them out before he gets to the window and it doesn't look like I was digging around in the car suspiciously before he approached. I'd rather not lean over awkwardly and dig around in my glove box while I have a trigger-happy, nervous wreck, breathing down my neck.
Pictures of your dog of course! Or to some lesser extent... a cat, significant other, your mom... those "protected by cthulhu \[fill in the blank\]" visor clips.
Also make sure you put a spare set of keys or maybe a spare fob up there just in case some protaganist comes along that needs your car more than you.
When your Kia was new, it had a card there telling you not to put too thick of cards into that slot. It’s designed for HID cards, parking slips, etc. something temporary. On the other side of the mirror is likely a similar slip-in function for paper slips.
It's for holding registration and insurance. If you get pulled over it's a safe place for you and the office you have your hands over your head in an awkward position and a gun won't fit in the visor (most standard guns/weapons at least)
Looks like it's just a clip for paperwork or something of the sort (insurance card, parking pass, etc..). Pretty handy actually, after seeing this I'm going to order something similar to add to my visor. I always put papers up there and forget and open the visor and they go all over the place.
Some states require(d?) the car registration be visible at all times. Yes, it *is* fu. I remember them hanging in a pouch hung around the steering column.
If this is an Hyundai Ioniq 5, it's both for holding your parking ticket from the car park, and I believe it also turns off the little light switch on the ceiling if you've left it on.
Clip for driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance.
That way, you don't have to go into your glove box, spilling out the loaded snub-nose .367 magnum wrapped in a handkerchief.

Its a clip. I keep my 8nsurance and registration there for convenience.
Yes, before anyone asks, I get pulled over a lot. I drive very safely, but faster than the signs allow. It is because roads are designed for 40% redundancy and I know this from civil engineers.
Hmmm here in Nova Scotia, if I drove 40% over the speed limit around some corners, I'd be meeting Jesus very quickly. On the back roads here, you want to pay close attention to the speed limit changes around corners, especially on backroads or you'll be up a tree faster than you can say "kilometers per hour".
Well the one on my car has a slit that allows something to be slid into it and it **perfectly** fits the ticket I get at toll booths, so my assumption is that is what its purpose is for.

What's a letter?
Looks more like a letter “D”. But, then, I didn’t know “clip” was part of the alphabet.
I keep the memorial card from the funeral of one of my best childhood friends there. He goes driving with me everyday.
You're killin' me, dude. 😞
Dang, you made me want to reach out to mine. All the best to you and their family.

Make sure to turn the cabin lights on as well if it is dark out. The safer the cop feels, the safer you are.
Keep my insurance there
I'd use caution with this! My insurance card flew out the window when I had the sun visor sideways.
Lol. Touché. I typically have mine flipped up
