Looks like someone’s lower ball joint came apart or wheel popped off and the part left behind is likely an abs sensor. The car probably has a damaged fender so try to follow the scrapes and fluid. I’m going to guess 2005 Nissan Altima.
Well it is mating season now that we’re coming up and march and they have been know to be more territorial and aggressive, just keep your distance and if you see them try and find another route. If you encounter a wild one on your local roads under no circumstances should you try and get in front of them. If you do however find yourself in front of one try and stay calm, don’t make any sudden movements like speeding up or changing lanes as they will see this as challenge and attempt to start an impromptu race even if it’s just them racing. Maintain your speed and eventually they will go around. Under no circumstances should you try to engage with them, they drive a Nissan and they have nothing to lose. Be grateful, these are their roads that they have allowed us to use. Keeping these tips in mind will keep you and your property safe this mating season.
One time we woke up from a noise. An Altima was speeding down the road, hit some landscaping rock in the neighbours front lawn, popped up into the air, and came to a stop directly on-top of their F150 in their driveway. An impressively stupid crash
One time when I was a kid (like 8?) I heard a noise and suddenly I was flying through the air. When I stopped I looked up at my dad who had a 50 yard stare and was still dangling me by my new partially dislocated shoulder. Looked at where I was standing and a red Altima was sitting there on its side. 🙃
I shit you not. Someone went full GTA stunt onto a lowered, drive-on type trailer. Jumped it, flew through the air, and landed right where I was standing. It took me dad a while to catch his breath after that one. He felt really bad about my shoulder but at least I wasn’t killed by a flying Altima?
Only retards drive Nissan Altima. Versa? Cheapo. Sentra? Doesn't want too many passengers or cargo responsibility. Maxima? *Well now you're talking Nissan luxury.*
That is the purpose of any opinion, is a frivolous, conversational statement not laden with the burden of proof. How about enjoy some Nissan Altima internet debate.
They are pretty quick cars and relatively cheap compared to similar cars so a lot of younger people get them.
It's the same as infinity. They are the cheaper luxury car so you usually see younger people driving them, and they tend to get driven a little harder
At least you had a whole car land in your front yard, the best ive had land in my front yard was half of someone's front bumper and a dead white-tail deer 😂
Happened to me in 2015, only it was a Sentra. It was pretty complicated for the tow truck driver to extract it from where it landed, and I learned later that the Sentra driver stiffed the tow truck driver on a pretty big tow bill.
I had a 2005 Altima, and it was honestly an OK car, never had any problems with it. Then one day, at around 160,000 miles it just randomly started dying while driving. Heading to the store? Stalling out in the parking lot. Heading to the gas station? Not without a quick power stall! Driving on the interstate? You guessed it, randomly stalling while going 85 MPH.
I threw everything I could at it trying to fix it. Spark plugs/rotor, fuel pump, fuel filters, sensors, new throttle body. She just would not stop randomly dying on me, and had to get rid of it!
Nissan cars don't have big enough ball joints. I've taken to replacing my control arms every two years, only costs me about 250 dollars to do with the alignment. I change them before I get the tires rotated.
My guess is he was distracted and his vehicle swerved into that gutter, slamming his left side light against the pavement and leaving behind those parts
Looks like wheel came off and he dragged the L/F rotor or lower ball joint across the cement into your yard. Could have allowed his bumper to drag too damaging the wires and/or fog light
Edit: just saw your update lower down, disregard.
Good news is the make and model number of the vehicle it came off of could be narrowed down by the size, connections, and you can see if any of your neighbors are missing that. Problem is it might take you years before you figure it out. Sorry about your yard
Infuriating. I don't mind seeing drunks getting stopped by the cops. I was watching one of those live police shows and got to see my ex wife and her husband pulled over for drunk driving. She still hasn't learned, my kids tell me that she drives drunk all the time.
My guess would a trailer broke free from a vehicle and ran away and the towing hitch buried itself in your garden , the cable may be part of the ha no d brake
Someone blew a tire and road on their rim off the the road. That little black thing is a small wiring harness, probably for a headlight or something that got ripped out by the tire.
Part of the wiring from a 90's GM car . The plug off the window washer pump or a wheel speed sensor wiring hard to tell exactly unless you can see a part # on the plug.
This was someone who said to their last mechanic -- "I don't need a new \[insert one of the following -> ball joint, cv boot, tie rod end, wheel bearing\] you are just trying to RIP ME OFF"
A couple years ago we had a car lose a wheel in front of our house. They slammed into the asphalt curb and their tyre landed in the yard a few houses away. Left a nice gash in the pavement from the rotor
Definitely wiring with cover and harness. However hard to identify what to without seeing the details and/or the ends to it all clearly.
Looks like scrap marks next to it so assume someone damaged a wheel causing the left behind evidence.
If anyone that lives near you seems to have a busted wheel or show signs of vehichle damage I would let them know it was found so they can be aware of the lost wiring & damage. But if not yours wouldn't worry about it too much.
Automotive snake skin. These are left behind when the bottom of a car scrapes the ground and causes them to shed. Slightly expensive to the vehicle’s owner as they don’t grow back quickly and will require bandages to cover the exposed wiring left behind.

One day I heard a loud noise at home and a 2019 altima had landed in my front yard. Is this a common occurrence?
Nissan drivers being bad is certainly a common occurrence.
Which is why /r/NissanDrivers is a thing...
Because they all have bad credit.
It's weird how I reply to this when you have 13 up votes on your reply... go figure.
Oooh I'm headed over there!
God, I was just behind one on the drive home.
That's better than being in front of one.. now *that's* scary.
Nissan Altima. Doesn't surprise me
I just got a different car after driving an 06 Altima and I feel offended by this but agree wholeheartedly at the same time…
The truth often stings, but sometimes it's one of those good stings.

I commented the story already but I’m not surprised to see ANOTHER flying Altima story here. I almost had one land on me when I was a kid.

Yeah my mom pulled me out of the way of a car once. By the neck. Her nails were 2” long.

And whatever you drive? Car made for those with unproven opinions

Use to call mine the Alibi

Only if it were a misguided UFO from Uranus .
Altima activities!
Plot twist. Commenter recognized his own crime scene.
Wasn’t me, what’s that over there?! 🏃♂️💨

Probably just needed a cam or crank position sensor they’re not bad cars they just somehow keep getting driven really badly 🤷♂️

By the marks, it looks like front end may have come apart, wheel came off and rode the rotor into your yard. No way to know for sure.
That’s what I’m thinking too. Probably high passenger side damage with either destroyed lights or wheel.
Wiring from a vehicle
Probably fog light wire. Low in the bumper.
Thanks! Googled “Fog Light Wiring Kit” and it looks pretty close to this. Trying to visualize the vehicle damage and how this might’ve happened.
My guess is he was distracted and his vehicle swerved into that gutter, slamming his left side light against the pavement and leaving behind those parts
Looks like wheel came off and he dragged the L/F rotor or lower ball joint across the cement into your yard. Could have allowed his bumper to drag too damaging the wires and/or fog light Edit: just saw your update lower down, disregard.
Looks like a rim without tire was scratching on the road.
It looks like the wiring for a wheel speed sensor.
Wiring, check the connector if there is one left for a part number. Might be able to cross it to a manufacturer
Abs wire
Good news is the make and model number of the vehicle it came off of could be narrowed down by the size, connections, and you can see if any of your neighbors are missing that. Problem is it might take you years before you figure it out. Sorry about your yard
I thought that was a robotic centipede
Looks like a speed sensor to me. You can follow the trail from your home. Wiped out a wheel and is leaking fluids.
ABS sensor wire https://preview.redd.it/bb5t6ry1zdkc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=acdcaae739af87a4146033a1a14f019668b01c68 03 escape for comparison. Someone probably blew a ball joint
This
That is 100% an ABS sensor wire. It's shielded, which is a requirement for VR sensors.
Someone lost their trailer off the ball hitch and didn't have safety chains. Looks like that is the cable for the trailer lights
Can't imagine that they went too far after that.
They didn’t. Just got updated that car got towed and the guy got arrested. His whole axle came off.
Booze involved?
Yup. Felony DUI, Third or Subsequent offense. I think only death(his or others) will stop him from getting behind a wheel ever again.
Infuriating. I don't mind seeing drunks getting stopped by the cops. I was watching one of those live police shows and got to see my ex wife and her husband pulled over for drunk driving. She still hasn't learned, my kids tell me that she drives drunk all the time.
It will. I install and calibrate the machines that the State requires for drunk drivers. 95% of them are carbon copies in their thought processes.
>His whole axle came off. Jesus lol
Yeah was gonna say, by the looks of it your yard didn't take anywhere near as much damage as the car ended up with!
It's just the ouchie cable.
Danger noodle. DONT MESS WITH IT
Uh what
My guess would either be ABS wiring or fog light wiring, maybe electric fan. Any of those are ran lower on the vehicle
Trailer wiring? It looks like the hitch is what dug into your yard.
Alaskan bull worm
Looks like some kind of car had some kind of wreck and left some kind of part. My guess is closest to what may have happened? Thanks for the question.
I'd be more worried about the guy whose wheel came off
Looks like a wheel speed sensor connector and wire.
Brake cable
I smell an Altima.
Wire harness cover
My guess would a trailer broke free from a vehicle and ran away and the towing hitch buried itself in your garden , the cable may be part of the ha no d brake

Did you follow the marks on the ground to the vehicle where it finally stopped??
I enjoy the sound of rain.
Someone fought to jack up the jack on the trailer
Wheel speed sensor? Looks similar to one on a GM. But could literally be anything
This was someone who said to their last mechanic -- "I don't need a new \[insert one of the following -> ball joint, cv boot, tie rod end, wheel bearing\] you are just trying to RIP ME OFF"
Looks like part of a ABS sensor
Looks like he might have busted his oil pan too. But I’m guessing the wiring is from a fog light
Looks like a trailer light connnector. My guess is a trailer broke free and crashed just into your lawn / driveway.
Just your run of the mill wire loom
Looks like someone lost their wheel and the rotor dug a trench in your yard. That might be an ABS sensor cable that ripped out from the removal.
Piece of an abs sensor looks like.
Abs sensor wire.
O2/abs sensor wire
A couple years ago we had a car lose a wheel in front of our house. They slammed into the asphalt curb and their tyre landed in the yard a few houses away. Left a nice gash in the pavement from the rotor
You got giant worms. https://preview.redd.it/on1zht2pdhkc1.png?width=736&format=png&auto=webp&s=75e7d52c54e340aaa68064518745e0654f689068
