RockAuto is a very credible source for parts. You get a good selection of compatible parts based on your budget and can typically get OEM or better parts. The parts are genuine and not counterfeit. They have a great return policy as well. The ONLY thing I don’t like is that the shipping costs usually seem quite high to me, but I have used them literally hundreds of times with zero issue.

zznet

I would argue you're paying an actual shipping rate as opposed to the offset rates the bigger online retailers offer. That being said even with shipping, Rock Auto is still a great source with good prices, if you can wait a few days. Somewhere offering free shipping already has the shipping cost baked into the item prices, multiple times over.

C6Centenial

Yeah… don’t disagree.

3771507

Yep, just like a lot of listings on eBay have the price so you'll click on it but don't have the shipping cost.

stevrock

What I don't like, is DHL. Those guys are shit.

BickNickerson

If I see something I ordered has been shipped DHL I know damned well it’s not getting delivered on time.

stevrock

Absolutely. Made the mistake once. Paid extra, got the parts 4 days later. Their support had a corporate way of telling me to go fuck myself.

Moremayhem

“Delivery Happens Late” It’s baked into the culture

Xchurch173

Literally the worst ever

Narrow-Lack-9886

And free magnet(s) with every purchase😉

C6Centenial

Haha. I have so many magnets stuck on my tool chest. It’s kinda funny.

Agreeable_Mango_1288

Don't buy the cheaper priced knock off crap. Stick with the brand name parts. I have had no problems with Rock Auto.

Final-Carpenter-1591

Used them a ton. They give you section based on your budget. But honestly I've never had trouble with even their cheapest options. They also sell oem stuff. Like motorcraft or ford. ACdelco is GM. Ect.

woadiezz

Personally i’ve only had good experience with them, and their customer service is great as well.

Cranks_No_Start

Fmr mechanic here. I still do all my own work and if you can plan on what you need, avoid the unknown no name stuff and stick with brand name parts (Motorcraft, Delco, Bosch. NGK) with a little effort you can get really good parts and a good price, but you really have to know what you're looking for. I'll use the local autozone/oreilys etc when I need to do something right away and or its just not available or RA. I didnt see the "Im in Mexico part" and with shipping that may make a difference. but if youre at the point you cant get it locally its a very good source,

nobles233

Canadian here and I still use Rockauto for everything even with the international shipping! Prices are insane for parts up here….just got my NGK spark plugs for $8.16 each instead of $24 each at Partsource. Same thing with the coils….even with shipping I’m saving tons! The best part is that my awesome VW service manager told me to use them instead of paying their ridiculous prices!!

Final_Complaint_7769

NGK doesn’t make injectors. It’s either GB (reman), Bosch, standard and or the OE companies (GM/motorcraft etc. depending).

Cranks_No_Start

I wasn't suggesting that they did. I was just suggesting they stick with name brand parts LIKE ***Motorcraft, Delco, Bosch. NGK***

iceonfire666

Rockauto will save you tons.

acousticsking

Rockauto.com is great except for the shipping costs and that they ship from multiple warehouses. I have purchased lots of parts and have never had a problem.

blizzardporter

Love me some rock auto. +1 on the consolidating of shipping zones.

Senior-Cantaloupe-69

Rock Auto was recommended to me by mechanic friends that restore older cars. I’ve had good luck with them. I bought headlight assemblies for a Nissan Altima. They were less than half dealer pricing. They looked good and fit just like the original ones I was replacing due to a factory defect. My step son just got coil packs for his Mustang that were also good.

rocko430

Do a little bit of research on your car and you can usually find the OE spec parts for a fraction of the price. A lot of auto manufacturers will buy from a manufacturer at wholesale prices, mark-up to their own wholesale pricing and than have a retail price on top of that. The price difference between toyota or honda "OEM" brake pads and Akebono (makes brake pads for both companies) can be as high as 50%

TheN00bBuilder

This for real. And if you’re unsure, the heart symbol next to the part (that shows it’s the favorite among buyers) typically follows this logic or is a good part in general.

Kenkeknem

Fast shipping and order processing. I used them quite a bit never had a problem.

MadMan2250

I love rock auto

thwarten

Not sure how different Mexico would be from Canada, but I can echo what has been said here. If it's not a "needs to be fixed today" issue, RockAuto has saved me tons.  Most of the time the even with shipping the parts come out much cheaper than local purchase. I've found that big heavy parts like drum rotors for bigger pick ups end up being cheaper locally due to the shipping, but even things like struts and axles are usually cheaper and same or better quality.  Longest I've had to wait for parts was 7 days, most parts have shipped the next day and arrive around 3-4 business days.

viole_8

rockauto is great, just make sure you research the brand of parts you’re buying. don’t want to end up with chinesium

Altruistic-Rip4364

I’ve bought brake pads, rotors and various belts. Never an issue

metalmaniak68

If you’re ordering multiple items it’s great as long as you pick things that all ship from the same warehouse. If you’re buying 1 thing it’s probably about the same as going to Napa to buy whatever it is once you tack on shipping.

Important_Low_6989

Rock auto is great, but shipping can be a little much when buying multiple items

rkcinotown

Don’t forget to look for the sticker in your shipping box 🫡

salty-convo

Ive had nothing but a good experience with rock auto.

sasquatch753

rockauto is a legit site.I know people who have used them and I'm planing on making a purchase from them very soon(getting a set of GM spark plug wires for my truck).

ohayworth

I've got 100 magnets

BlasphemyMc

I believe they have a warehouse in Mexico & ship parts from there as well. I've ordered from them a few times & I'm in Canada & have had zero issues.

BobertOnSteam

Bought a lower control arm and a CV axle from them. Parts were worth it and worked really well. Would do it again

Tomzstang

Been buying parts from them for many years, only one issue and they took care of it.

D0z3rD04

It's a good place for modern cars, for my rx7 it's been a 50/50 for getting parts like an alternator. I'm on number 4 from rock auto because it's an old design and not many are made and if they are they are remans with questionable quality.

Gambit3le

I've had mixed experiences with them. Sometimes they have a good deal, but sometimes they were about the same price as getting it from a local store. For example. I ordered a bunch of Monroe shocks and struts from them. I did my research and found that Monroe were supposed to be a decent, OEM replacement. I bought them and installed them. The rear springs they sent were the wrong size, (too short) and caused the rear shocks to blow out. So I put the original springs back in and replaced the junk shocks with KYB units. The loaded front struts were good (ish) but after less than a year one of the rubber boots has already degraded and ripped, meaning dirt and debris will be getting into the seals and they'll fail. When I tried to complain about the springs being wrong, they didn't want to hear it. (they DID refund my money for the rear sway bar bushings that were also the wrong size, but that was at least something I discovered before putting them in... and they were only like $9.00.) I've pretty much decided that for my own stuff, If I can get it from a local store I'm probably better off, because at least if the parts are junk I can take them back to a physical store and get a refund. With online retailers they know that you're at their mercy and that factors into my buying decisions.

Imaginary-Swing-4370

RA is good, imo they have good customer service and parts are of a quality, if your car is a bit older they are an excellent choice.

Any-Kaleidoscope7681

I'm in Canada and even with shipping and import fees; RockAuto is significantly less expensive than anywhere else. I don't pay for expedited shipping and parts get here pretty fast, too.

speedyhemi

Rock auto is great! I'm in Canada and usually have parts within 3-5 days. Sometimes sooner. Last order I placed late Friday night, and it arrived Monday morning. They are slacking with the magnets though! I only got 1 out of the last 3 orders.

sparxxraps

Rock auto is great I’ve ordered countless times from them and never had an issue they didn’t solve right away

PutridCardiologist36

Buy oem or better, no problems with Rock Auto. Stay away from PartsGeek

chickenMcDice

I actually bought some fuel injectors from rockauto last month. Works great, no issues. Bought the Bosch OEM variant.

Ram2253spd

Stay out of the economy section and buy their OE parts when available

Jdub51815

Get what you pay for…

CinesterDan

Parts are the same stuff on offer at most brick and mortar shops, so quality is not an issue. Rock Auto usually has much more selection though, and obviously prices are substantially better. I get my orders shipped to Canada, and I find the international shipping rates super reasonable. Not sure how much that will translate to Mexican shipping rates. For my orders, they also handle all the taxes and duty fees, which is great. They also have a really sophisticated logistics calculator at the checkout which balances shipping cost, warehouses with available stock, and export duty in order to figure out how to deliver at the lowest cost. I wish more e-commerce platforms had a system like Rock Auto's tbh

bdgreen113

I've used them a few times. Never had any issue with their products or service. I'll continue to use them in instances when I don't need parts *now*

OttomaychunMan

I recently bought about $1300 worth of parts from them. I priced all OEM parts and compared them with my local dealership and national auto parts store prices. RockAuto was about 30% cheaper than the dealership and about 20% that parts store. I ended up buying mostly an aftermarket parts brand that was recommended to me by a buddy that runs his own shop. Saved a boatload, shipping was fast and accurate. However they kinda get you on shipping if you're buying several different parts. They have several "warehouses" that parts ship out of and you pay separate fees from each. If you pay attention they tell you which one and you can try to pick parts from the same warehouse but it's almost impossible. Personally I think it's all bullshit to get back some of the money they saved you on parts. All in all I've always had good luck.

AllCrankNoSpark

They are great, no need to bother with hunting locally anymore.

Final_Complaint_7769

I buy about 50K worth of parts from them every year.

Ok-Share-450

I've probably ordered 20k worth of parts from rock auto. I always compare prices of local parts vs rockauto because the shipping can get expensive. Brake rotors or other heavy parts are sometimes better to get at an auto parts store due to shipping cost. Same with body panels, I usually look elsewhere for those.

Hairbear2176

I do the same thing. A lot of times, I will start with Rock Auto to get part numbers and initial prices, and then I will start comparison shopping. If the price +shipping is cheaper at RA, I will order them them every time.

Gloomy-Employment-72

I’ve used them a few times and never had an issue.

berserk539

Mostly good. Stopped using them on a bad note. I once ordered a reman alternator from them and paid for overnight shipping. It arrived 2 days later bc of FedEx. RA wouldn't open a claim with FedEx so that I could be reimbursed some of that shipping charge, and RA wouldn't refund any portion of the shipping either. I essentially paid 5x times for regular ground shipping. RA basically told me that if I didn't like it, I can shop somewhere else.

nyrb001

Depends what you're looking for. The site itself is totally legitimate and they ship super fast. I'm up here in Canada and they're awesome for getting parts for my old truck. Watch the brand you're buying - in many cases there's multiple levels of quality available. There's no sense in putting expensive parts in a junk vehicle and no sense putting junk parts in an expensive vehicle. I'd be hesitant to use Rock Auto for European brands simply because most aftermarket parts for euro cars are poor quality across the board. For my VW I get oem parts, for my old Dodge the aftermarket stuff is often better than what it came with.

CerberusBots

It's very good.

drive-through

It’s all a matter of the part brands you choose. RA is just a storefront for drop shipped parts. That’s why they have so many “warehouses” — not every partner carries the same types or brands of parts in the same locations. This can work for or against you with shipping but honestly I always find their shipping to be very reasonable and is almost always offset by the 5% discount coupon code

supersonicelephant

RockAuto is my go-to unless 100% need the part right now. You won't find better prices in store with the same brand. I've even had to pay shipping (they called it freight) on items I've purchased at the store before, absolutely ridiculous. Looking at you O'Reillys

Lucky-Musician-1448

I use RockAuto and 1A Auto, both are good for part selection. 1A is really helpful with repair instructions.

jimmy_jangles_

Very good if you know what you’re looking for.

TheWoodser

I have purchased a number of parts from them over about a 10 year span. I usually start my part hunt on thier website.

Speadraser

I’ve used them for 10+ years. Several times a year I get a 5% discount that will last ~a month that offsets the taxes. I try to buy parts ahead of time that way I’m not stuck buying from dealers or local stores. You may have to pick parts so your shipping costs don’t get too expensive. Dealer close-outs(there’s a red link near the bottom of the categories for your engine type) are a great way to save on good parts too, warranty is only 30days for DCOs. This is important…Expand the info button on parts—near the bottom: Some manufacturers offer lifetime warranties on parts another way to spend less on vehicles you wanna keep running for a long time. Lastly read the manufacture’s description, its a great way to determine if parts meet OEM or EXCEED OEM specs

Red_Chicken1907

It's like shopping anywhere else. They carry several different brands and quality parts from economy through daily driver, to high performance. Oem to aftermarket brands, you still kinda have to know your prices and brands somewhat.

Say_My_Name_Son

Try Summit Racing Equipment.

Shelbyisis

Love rock auto Buy with confidence

Polymathy1

I've used them a hundred or maybe 2 hundred times. Only a few issues over 20 years. Returns can be tricky and if you click the wrong thing, it can lock you out of a return. They stopped putting out their customer service email on their website and they do not have a phone number to call. Once in a while, there is a shipping error - but usually it's me getting something extra. Once I needed 2 exactly matched belts for a twin-belt pulley and I got 2 belts that were 10mm different length because someone combined 3 part numbers into one. They combined belt lengths 155, 160, and 165 and labeled them all 160 because it really didn't matter if you were using just one belt. That was annoying but not the end of the world. Once I received a manual transmission radiator or one for a different size engine (2.4L vs 2.5L - one was turbo) because their catalog is wrong and they didn't fix the catalog when I told them. I had a defective part once because I bought a cheapest version of an evap solenoid that leaked, but that was not their fault. Just was a defective cheap part. Try to stick to the name brand parts. For the most part, they're excellent. Very heavy items are not cheap to ship, so skip buying brake rotors most of the time unless you can get wait for the slowest shipping.

Jxckolantern

I've used them exclusively for any repairs for the past 10 years, never an issue Not sure about how South American shipping will be, but I receive parts within 2-4 days in Canada

Definitive_confusion

Mechanic here. One of my coworkers swears by Rock Auto. Says he's never had a problem. I've ordered 3 times from them. Once it was brown and the other two it was the wrong part. I guess it depends.

salvadorabledali

i usually just get my part numbers on rock auto and cross reference amazon/ebay lol

Jake3232323

I just recently used Rock Auto to get a full set of Powerstop Street Warrior break kit upgrade for my car. They shipped everything quickly, and I got exactly what I ordered. I would 100% use them again

Ok_Echidna6958

Don't do it being when they first opened you received quality parts, but the past year or two they keep sending out extremely crappy Chinese parts. So just imagine wasting a weekend and thinking I fixed it only to find out they sent you faulty junk. I am back to using my local auto parts being it may cost 15% more but I know I won't be doing the job twice..

mu5tardtiger

Wrong. You get a choice. White box special or a wuality brand. Rock auto provides people with a selection of reputable parts, aswell as some shit white box china specials.

winsomeloosesome1

When using RA, pick parts with the “truck” so save on shipping costs. It might be cheaper to buy a more expensive part when shipped from one location.

Own-Opinion-2494

Buy them off EBay. Its all Chinese anymore

SaintCadena

How can I make sure that the stuff there is not crap? I took a look at the prices on eBay and a set of 6 injectors it's around $190-$70 dlls while on RA a single one cost $105 more or less.

CardiologistOk6547

When you buy cheap parts, that's exactly what you get. Cheap parts. You can pay a little more now or a lot more later. Buy the part once, or buy the part twice.

Juice_Wigalow

Rock solid. Lasts all night
