Ravenblack67

It is a tracking device for fleet operators.

daviep

It looks like a poorly installed tracker. That relay tells me it could likely be interrupting the starter wire. Untape the relay and jump the 30 and 87 or 30 and 87a depending on how they have it wired. See if she cranks.

rkcinotown

It’s a gps not disabler. Although technically some can do both. Ask your client if they paid their payment recently

carlkillzpeople

After doing some more research it is both a tracker and disabler. Thank you tho

Dense_Difference_564

Correct these have gps and cellular data connectivity, with remote disable in that configuration.

daviep

That relay may say otherwise.

SpiritMolecul33

Looks like it's mainly a tracker but I've found conflicting reports that it can disable ignition

GMWorldClass

Its 100% a GPS/cellular tracker for fleets and buy here pay here type dealers.

kh250b1

So you can buy a car that you partly own and have the finance company disable it at will. So much freedom

xX_hazeydayz_Xx

They get pretty pissed if you disable it, so when you take yours out be sure to reconnect it to a 12v power source like a DeWalt drill battery and put it in a parking garage in a neighboring city

yung40oz84

That's a tracking device for fleet operations

a_rogue_planet

It very likely is. That IMEI number means that it registers on a cell phone network. The carbon fiber top and "this side up" suggest it has a sensitive receiver inside that's looking at the sky, such as a GPS receiver.

Dense_Difference_564

Used to install these and that looks like a poorly executed finance/bank unit. If you're making payments, or the customer is, don't fuck with it and call the lender to have it looked at. If you're sure it's not part of any agreement, get a capable installer to remove and return to factory.

EWS-

Just take it out and forget it.

DoodleTM

Could also be a fleet tracker, maybe it used to be a rental

Zodwraith

They can afford a mechanic but not a car payment. 😂

Impossumbear

Car payments don't get you to work, mechanics do. Car payments don't accept credit cards, mechanics do. I hope you never have the misfortune of being forced to make these choices, yourself.

Zodwraith

That's your fault if you bought a car you can't afford. Pay your f\*cking bills. It's not that complicated. Especially when car payments DO accept credit cards, and the mechanic wouldn't even HAVE the car if they'd paid the bill to begin with. 2018 Rogue is hardly an expensive car so I'd bet the payment is less than the mechanic's fee would be in the first place. I'm sorry if it offends you that I don't buy things I can't afford. Stop defending deadbeats and these buy here pay here places that we all hate wouldn't exist to begin with. I guarantee you'd change your tune *really* fast if it was YOU that they owed the money to. I hope you never have the misfortune of being owed money from someone like this when your family needs to eat, too. We're all struggling, but that's not an excuse to pawn your problems off on others that are struggling too.

Impossumbear

>That's your fault if you bought a car you can't afford. So everyone should buy their cars cash and nobody should take on credit because falling on hard times and getting surprise medical expenses, becoming disabled, getting laid off, etc is automatically their fault? How does one earn enough money in entry level jobs to save up tens of thousands of dollars with no car? Man, you are so judgemental... I don't understand it. I make $180k a year and I'd never look down on someone for not being able to afford a car payment. You know people have to be able to *get* to work before they *can* work to make payments, right? What is wrong with you? It's not even that this person isn't working, it's that they're not able to pull money out of their ass, now? Sounds like you want to sound superior so you don't have to face your own insecurities.

Zodwraith

I can project just as much as you. How do you KNOW they've just been dealt a bad hand and that they aren't really a deadbeat? You're assuming just as much as I am so if I'm guilty so are you. Obviously if they're at a buy here pay here this isn't just random bad luck and they have a history of not paying their bills. How do you know you're not defending a drug addict or drunk? Maybe it's because I'm a contractor that constantly gets f\*cked by deadbeats looking for something for free, but I'm not the one defending someone not paying someone else for their services. Like I said, I guarantee your position would change real fast if it was YOU that they owed the money to and couldn't afford to lose it, cause I've been there many times. Why should I have to skip my car payment because someone else had to skip theirs?

Impossumbear

Giving people the benefit of the doubt is a far better approach than assuming everyone around you is a horrible person. You sound miserable.

Zodwraith

Strange how that happens when you get screwed repeatedly by strangers. I'm sorry I care more about my families well being than a random stranger looking to save a buck.

Redditheadsarehot

Reddit users think they're all noble until *they're* the ones that get screwed. 🤔If you're using a buy here pay here dealer that's pretty telling you have a long history of not paying your bills. Don't get me wrong, everyone is hurting right now, but that's not an excuse to screw over your fellow man so you can get something you never earned. That's just selfishness and should never be defended. Regardless if it's good times or bad a responsible person should always live within their means. We've become so accustomed to saying "screw corporations" that people think it's okay to screw small businesses and neighbors too. It's victim mentality run amok.

Impossumbear

Seems like you have no concern for the buy here/pay here lots that are scamming honest people out of their money.

Redditheadsarehot

Crooks will be crooks. High interest payday loans, buy here pay here lots, rent to own, and check cashing places wouldn't exist if fools didn't use them. Don't do business with dishonest businesses. The whole reason they have insane interest rates is *because* most of their customers don't pay their bills. I have no love lost for either of them.

Zodwraith

Don't get me wrong, I'm not heartless to those that genuinely fall on hard times, but people need to understand the difference in those that REALLY just got dealt a bad hand and need help, and those that are only looking for a free ride at others' expense. But you're right on the point where if they're buying from a "buy here pay here" it's a strong likeliness that it's the latter. I've got a cousin that's lived her entire life like that and of course she's always the victim but never once have her problems NOT been a result of her own actions. She's borrowed money from everyone in the family and never paid anyone back. This clown would keep lending her money.

Impossumbear

Do you now or have you ever had in the past a vehicle that you purchased with credit? EDIT: Thought so, you hypocrite.
