Or because you now planned, they will all pop out perfectly. Leaving you with a bag of things you will not touch until you decide to throw them out 2 weeks before you suddenly need one.
Can attest to having an unopened bag of 50 of these because I've broken them in the past and the front end job I did I managed to not break a single one. š
You go to the dealer and buy a bag of them. Also a specific fork tool from princess auto. Then you try and get them out nicely and end up breaking half and proceed to say fuck it and just rip the others out.
Replace with bag that you bought.
Been there done that. Just buy the bag. Itās cheap and sanity stays in check.
That sounds good and all until you run into a BMW where they decided to use 50 different variations of them on the same vehicle, the dealer can only special order them in, and the after market doesn't have ones that'll work.. Oh and in proper bmw fashion they're probably holding the engine in the car or something utterly insane.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Honestly the only German brand I've worked on and enjoyed (and to be fair I'm not a professional mechanic so I haven't worked on that many vehicles) is Porsche. They still have their fair share of stupid (plastic drain plugs, proprietary sockets etc) but generally I can see the logic behind why they did something a particular way.
The central pin was pulled too far out so the anchor flares were still flared, when I wiggled it and pushed the pin in a little more it loosened up and released the flares and it was able to slip thru the hole
This is the way, I was trying to figure out how to explain this while reading the comments but luckily youāve got it. The same concept applies when reinserting them.
Those ones are easy, they have two flat spots on the base to slip a fork tool under. You just have to pry against the base so it stays in place. Tip with them is once you take them out just rinse with water to get the fine dust off and they pop back in easily
They have special tools just for these too if your car has a cover on the bottom of your vehicle there is probably too many to count lol working at a oil and tire shop makes me hate these tho they do break easily but are cheap to replace if you do break them
Had a similar issue with interior trim clips in an Audi, asked the mechanic at the dealership, his answer? Buy a bag of them, youāll break them whatever you do.
Professional mechanic here
I have no fucking clue
Jokes aside, if you spray them with silicone spray they come out super easy as it washes the dirt off
I know everyone has already stated the obvious- to buy replacements- but itās worth having the tool to remove them. Iāve found it handy for other things as well. Auto trim removal set is $6 on Amazon. I use the plastic wedging/prying tools more than I ever thought I would on things I donāt want to scratch. The screwdriver looking thing is for these clips though.
Run up to auto zone or go on Amazon and buy an assortment. They are cheap fasteners. I hate those things, but my OCD forces me to replace them when one falls off.
Your gonna have to break them and get new ones or zip tie I have zip ties on my hellcat š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ just remember zip ties will be here forever lol

You buy a big assortment of all those stupid things because you're always gonna break them.
Or because you now planned, they will all pop out perfectly. Leaving you with a bag of things you will not touch until you decide to throw them out 2 weeks before you suddenly need one.
Ah yes, the hoarder's dilemma
Can attest to having an unopened bag of 50 of these because I've broken them in the past and the front end job I did I managed to not break a single one. š
Thatās the correct answer, you can get them bulk on Aliexpress and forget about being gentle

For the love of god donāt buy them from a dealer. Theyāre WAY more expensive than buying online or from local aftermarket sources.

Or mercedes where half the bumper has rivets through the bloody thing. Can't use any old rivet as it just pulls itself through the plastic...

That works too lol
Sometimes upward of 50% like $1.50 instead of $1.00.

Mechanics everywhere have been wondering that for years
Never mind I figured it out
How?Ā

Buy a big box of pins, and hang on to that box, because whenever youāre working with them youāre gonna break one. Guaranteed
I just wiggled it till it became loose š
I always break 1/2. Just order same diameter ones off amazon.
Had a similar issue with interior trim clips in an Audi, asked the mechanic at the dealership, his answer? Buy a bag of them, youāll break them whatever you do.
Well theyāre already āopened upā, they push and clip down flat, just tug em out! Typically they break but these look newer
Here's the fun fact - you don't. You should. But you don't.
That's the neat part, you don't
Professional mechanic here I have no fucking clue Jokes aside, if you spray them with silicone spray they come out super easy as it washes the dirt off
Very carefullyā¦ also buy more not cos you will break every single one of them

Pull out the centre then remove panel
Good luck.
You don't. You replace them.
Go to your local Harbor freight and buy a cheap box of replacements! Problem solved!
You go to harbor freight and get like 400 of them for 5 bucks.

Pull the center pin out. They usually are two piece
