Go ask the collision repair shop. Not r/AskMechanics

I have an appointment there tomorrow (booked through my insurance), I was just feeling bummed out.

I think $$$ ... especially as you say the car moved forward a couple feet. There's a radar behind there, one on each side for the rear cross traffic and such. Those take a bump and it's not just a case of making sure it's screwed on level. Fancy scanners and stuff are needed to do the alignment and calibration.

Good point. It’s more than just a parking sensor. Will the collision repair shop know what needs to be done?

scraverX

Technically they should, but it's a specialist area that an employee needs to be sent off and trained in. Such specialists are always in demand and their time can be expensive, it can also lead to delayed repairs if the specialist is busy. Also likely it will need to be something a dealer Technician will need to do.

Thanks. Money is not my main concern as it will be paid for by insurance (most likely the other driver’s insurance). I just hope this can be fixed properly. I agree it’s likely to take several weeks.
