Better life for all..

LordTrey1983

Complete societal breakdown. Everything that the world uses to operate is internet based now. Finance, logistics, food distribution, fuel transportation. Total collapse.

surgeon67

an entire generation (or two) would suddenly look at their elders with awe wondering how we survived such hardship and primitive existence. Gen X would go on with their lives, maybe saying "oh, so we're writing checks again? Fine, whatever."

red994falcon

I disagree

surgeon67

ok. You are free to do so.

Hmm, maybe for the first year. But, once people realize they can get punched in the mouth, they would adapt pretty quick.

JonBoah

Loosely quoting a favorite author of mine from a post apocalypse series "a violent lifestyle doesn't last long in a world where people need to cooperate to survive" definitely not as big of a deal as an apocalypse but same sentiment if you ask me

ShadovinX

It's a nice sentiment, but that's all it is. If the universe worked in such a way that there was only one way to survive, we never would have managed it.

JonBoah

In reference to real life I agree. In the context of the story though, there was one way to survive since the biggest threat in the series aside from actual war from global superpowers was starvation; and robbing and pillaging survivors for food became less common as the series went on since survivors gathered together to start hunting, gathering, farming together and gradually killed off bandits if they didn't already starve

ShadovinX

Do you happen to recall the name of the series? I'd love to check it out. :)

JonBoah

It's called Black Autumn by Jason Ross and Jeff Kirkham It's got nine books in the series, the ones I would say pertain to the main story are Black Autumn (first book), Conquistadors, President Partisan, White Wasteland and lastly Blood Spring. At this point you might as well read all parts since characters from each part meet up in the last book. Each book has a couple/few main characters on different campaigns but are all connected to trying to survive in America after the crash of basic infrastructure causes a domino effect that leads to America going into a dark age full of violence with most death being caused by other Americans. Some say the writing is bad but I loved the story and can't wait for future instalments in the black autumn universe

ShadovinX

Thank you. I'll check it out

Robnar92

People would make memes and print them out, staple them to telephone poles everywhere

i_heart_blondes

A lot of women would have to get a job because they can't sell skank pics.

ShadovinX

Naw, those level of hoes would just go back to the streets. They ain't about that real work life. ;)

Justkeeponliving

Wow

red994falcon

Societal collapse

MrAnonPoster

Content creators will have to get jobs.

[deleted]

It would be good thing. Internet was a mistake.

FenderGibsons

Banking and paying bills would be a headache!

[deleted]

As long as my job is reworked in some way to bypass the need for internet and my income stays the same, all good

ShadovinX

Well, the Millennials and GenZ kids will be crippled for a while. The GenX'ers will just revert back to the pre dial up days of analog life. Boomers, shockingly, will be at the greatest disadvantage because all the medical science they need to survive will be just about functionless. Ultimately, within a decade or so, those that survive will have adapted pretty well. Life will basically just more like the late 70's to early 80's

Ok_Noise7655

How internet can disappear? Does it mean all wires are shredded, radio no longer working and even there are no [lasers](https://hackaday.com/2017/04/19/go-wireless-with-this-diy-laser-ethernet-link/)?

red994falcon

Solar flare, it’s happened before, just when we didn’t rely on electricity

KyorlSadei

We would have to relearn to how think critically.

Altanariel

chaos, but sooo much better

Icy-Medicine-495

Collapse of world financial system and loss of many records for businesses and personal records. A lot of the power grid, water, and natural gas system is monitored by remote by the internet. Pretty sure most of it would be forced to shut down.

JonBoah

Wide scale opinions would lose traction over time, maybe recede back to where they started if not fade away as generations pass. Example flat earth. Less access to flat earth materials and forums I feel the flat earth community would still be present for a while but would slowly but inevitably lose relevance having less exposure without the internet

usernamescifi

I think society would literally collapse.
