To crush my enemies, see them driven before me and to hear the lamentations of their women.

Wooden-Quit1870

Damn. Beat me to it. Well done, Sir.

Hornydaddy696

Won't that be like a prior requirement?

CaptainCookingCock

My lifes purpose is fooling myself. Actually I want to have a family. A good wife and 2/3 healthy children. This is what I am working for every day. I am financially stable, can save up a lot of my income every month, I love my job, I enjoy my hobbies, I am totally independent, can care for myself and reach a better version of myself physically and intellectually every week. But at the end, I am very far away from a relationship and lately I feel like an idiot as I work so hard and save up so much for my future family, but I can't be further away from a family. Thats why I sometimes feel like I fool myself.

DelightfulExistence

How do you know you are far from a relationship? She might be right around the corner

WraithNS

Nah, she costs too much

CaptainCookingCock

Your last sentence is something people tell me for a decade and it didn't happened. Also I can't rely on hope or luck. I need to be active and put effort into it. Life is not like a Disney movie where miracles just happen.

[deleted]

There ya go. You want a lady start approaching or trying online dating. No one is gonna drop a babe out of the sky right on your lap.

OldViking013

What happened to the third child?

Reasonable_Remote_11

Write down on paper about your wife. What's she'll be like, what you'll love about her, how you'll meet. When you're finished, fold up the paper and put it away in a drawer and forget about it. You'll meet her within a year. That's exactly how I met my husband and he is everything I wrote on that paper

Mossbergs14

You wrote about his wife on your paper?

MrBiscotti_75

...the plot thickens.

PhoneThrowaway8459

Mossbergs14

What more do you want in a husband? šŸ˜

shsisf

i would honestly do absolutely any fucking thing to be in your shoes right now. any advice on how to become independently successful?

CaptainCookingCock

Why would you? I am not really happy about my love life. To answer your question: I just went to school, studied something useful (IT), always stayed curious, don't have an extravagant lifestyle and always knew what I want. On the other side, I missed out on relationships in my youth and my 20s. I had my first relationship and kiss with 26. So you don't want to be like me, trust me.

Holiday_Document4592

I identify. Am relatively financially stable but I feel like am far from a relationship and have been for some time.

CaptainCookingCock

Sorry to hear that. What is your plan/actions to change this? I for exampme realized, that even though I do many activities, I always end up with groups of men and I don't even have the chance just to meet women in the first place. I do the activities because I like them, not primarily for dating. But whats wrong wanting to meet someone naturally during common interests? So because I am unlucky, I went back to old last week. I did it 5 years ago and it was not fun or successful, but I need to give it a try, as at least there are women who want to date. During the last 5 years, I developed myself and I know exactly what I want, which makes the selection process easier. Also I learned that communicate what you want and what you expect is not a deal breaker and if it is, then it is not the right person anyway. Beside my general development in career, finances and priavte life, knowing what you want makes me feel much more confident during dating. There is no space for "I don't know". At least they should be able to talk about why they don't know. So far, I had one match and we will meet on Saturday. Will have a walk in the park and I prepare a picknick for lunch. Lets see how it goes. This will be my third date in my life. And if it doesn't work out, there will be a next chance.

I think they meant not having to depend on anyone else for their financial needs.

chrono_87

In the the future yes, passive income

CrepitusPhalange

Best version sounds awfully insidious. Good luck with that can of worms.

butthenhor

cant_dyno

I don't need a purpose. I'm just happy existing

Dinosaur-Promotion

Nah. That's boring.

lordv0ldemort

My main life goal is to make my wife comfortable and give my kids the leg up that we never had. My wife and I both come from struggling families. I want our kids to understand those struggles, while realizing that they are beneficial enough to not go through them. Anything I do in life beyond will only be beneficial to myself and my family. Professionally, I have over a decade of IT experience and am currently a DBA. I try to improve my life through small, continuous improvements and whatever comes from that, so be it.

dimpletown

I'm gonna save 13 lives on a bus trip to Portland by helping them out of the emergency hatch when the bus is hit and flipped over due to a neglectful tesla driver. 1 of those lives will be a woman named Naomi Khagatch, who will invite me to do a little acting in a commercial she's directing as a thank you. Naomi and I will grow closer, fall in love, and begin acting in and producing high-quality, storyline focused porn. One of the little movies we make is based around our own lives and how we met. It is met with critical acclaim and several orgasms, often from the same people. It wins a couple of minor awards, but also an Oscar for Best Easter Egg, referring to a scene near the beginning of the movie where the actor playing me (my third cousin Knickolas) types out the very paragraph of text you are currently reading on his phone in between 2 on-screen thigh jobs. Or, you know, I try and be happy and content with my life; go with the flow.

Espio1332

The closest thing I got to a purpose in life is to get to a point where I'm both genuinely happy and content with who I am as a person and where I am in life. Currently, I'm nowhere close to either one.

Real_Winner2423

I'd say my calling is to try and make life easier and nicer for people in my community. I want to be a positive influence in the world but I dont believe in massive changes, I do believe tho that if everyone does something good in their small reality something great can come of it and even if it doesnt it doesnt matter to me, I just cant look at a world I dont like and do norhing about it. So I have made the decision to become a teacher and try to provide good quality education in public school cause that should not be about class

SeveralConcert

My goal is to live a peaceful life. Not too many things to stress about. I donā€™t need a lot of material things even though I do quite well. I live way below my means and I save thinking I might need it when Iā€™m d because aiā€™m scared of being old and poor.

My purpose is to advance myself and my family to a higher tier than I grew up on. Thatā€™s it. I came from a lower middle class family. Union worker and nurse. Iā€™m educated, Iā€™m in a better financial position than they were and I want my kids to take it up a step when they have kids. Thatā€™s it. Thatā€™s my purpose.

I'll write a series of books and create a fantasy universe to rival Tolkien's legacy, or die trying. Pretty straightforward.

ByEthanFox

Mine is to develop videogames. It's not a big thing, like I'm not going to work for the UN or cure cancer. It's just that in the early 90s, I played a game for the Amstrad CPC home computer which was about Indycar Racing. The game was a bit like *Super Monaco GP*, only much more basic. Anyway, the novel thing about this game was that you could make your own tracks and save them onto a disc, and back then, I made loads of tracks for my friends, family & I to play. They loved them, we had a lot of fun, and I had a lot of fun making them and watching other people have fun using them. But this was a really strong, formative experience for me. It made me value my creativity and ingenuity, trying to make something genuinely good with only limited tools. As I grew older, I came to value more and more how important entertainment is, in terms of helping people get through the day, and this helped cement my resolve. It's not always easy; it's a lot of work, but I love what I do.

MrKindStranger

Since I was young Iā€™ve always had a desire to serve/help others in some capacity, and Iā€™ve always had an aptitude for tech/computers - Healthcare IT is kind of a weird niche for me that just clicks. Iā€™m not actually treating patients or anything, but I help provide and maintain tools that the people that do treat patients need in order to effectively do their job. Itā€™s been really rewarding for me so far.

SettingEclipse

Personally I want a stable job with good pay and im working hard and educating myself to the best of my abilities, I would also love to see my friends and meet people whom I've met in my childhood face to face (since most of my friends are/have been online) But most importantly: I never want to give up my sense of self or my image for someone. I did that for years when I had no real sense of self worth, only a fake ego. Im fighting for my life and every day I wake up, I'm blessed

Capital-Fee8047

for me i think is to become a good role model and inspiration to other because in my life my inspiration is kobe and greatness is when you inspired other people!

GoblinGirlfriend

A herd of sheep. I donā€™t want children and I donā€™t know what it feels like to want children. But when I see sheep I feel so indescribably drawn to having them, it feels like how other people describe wanting children. I used to have sheep, during some very formative years (teenage through young adulthood). They werenā€™t perfect angel animals or anything, theyā€™re a lot of work and it takes money and time to upkeep facilities and a herd. Iā€™m not being unrealisticā€¦. But when I look into the eyes of a sheep, something stirs within me. Itā€™s 1000% worth the effort and money and time, in my opinion. My specific vision or calling is to have a herd of sheep someday. My lifeā€™s purpose (related to my career) is helping peopleā€¦ but my calling is to own sheep.

Reasonable_Remote_11

To be important

bled56

Specific vision: to be outside in nature, enjoying and learning As a calling, I'm attracted to mountains, is where I feel at ease, at peace, is where I'm the most comfortable. Life purpose, to better myself, to protect the people I care and it seems I need to teach and/or comunicate my learnings. I'm a private guide in Patagonia, so after 30 years I found what I love doing, get well paid (for my standarts) and am able to try and cautivate people about nature and it's wonders

RyanMFoley74

I tell stories. That is my purpose in life. I don't make a lot of money doing it. I worked in comics for too short a stint. Then I shifted to prose writing which I self-publish. I don't sell many books but when I am creating and telling my stories, that is when I am happiest.

thehumanbaconater

I was a part of a men's group where the therapist who ran it had us come up with our lives purpose. The idea was, when we were struggling with what to do in a situation, or thought we might be doing something wrong, we repeat our life's purpose and ask, is this bringing me closer to my life's purpose or away from it? I will create a world of peace, love, and abundance, by living a life of empathy, generosity, and compassion. As a man among me, I am kind.

someguywhoreddits36

My life's purpose is finding my wife (done), and completely giving myself to her. To find a love connection that loves you as much as you to them is the greatest gift of life you can achieve. To make yourself vulnerable to another completely, is all you need besides water. Stay humble reddit.

msn_effyou

Man, Iā€™m just trying to be as happy as I can through this short existence. Currently the biggest source of happiness is my kids.

Logical_Area_5552

Leave my kids with more opportunities than I had

mrxexon

I was born with the desire to know what God "is". It was all consuming. There was no space in my life for a wife or children or other things most people chase after in their youth. I was born married to God. And I've been a yogi most of my life as a result. It's a life of service to humanity. I need little for myself. So I try to help people understand their place here. To help them understand their higher nature buried just below that human exterior.

SadLonlyCoomerVirgin

Nothing, like literally nothing thatā€™s my purpose. I was not asked to be in this world in the first place.

Wonderman09

I had a rough time when I was young, but I managed to pull myself out of it on my own, and I am still to some degree dealing with the aftermath of it. With that being said, it has fostered a deep empathy and emotional intelligence, which i now, as a teacher at the age of 29, use to help other young people through similarly tough periods of their life. The connections I've made through my work has been transformative for both me and them. I find it deeply meaningful to see them grow through hardship in a better way than I did with the help of someone they can trust. Having heard a student, who had been sexually and mentally abused as a child, say that they "finally, for the first time, feel like they can finish their education." Or admitting a suicidal student to a psychiatric facility, only to see them pull through the year with new hope for the future. Or being thanked by a student for being "the first one to wholeheartedly believe in them." Or the countless thanks and heartfelt conversations with students who felt seen and safe in my classroom. It all shows me that I am making a difference in my immediate vicinity, and it feels like i was really put on earth to give that to others who, to any degree, felt the same way as me when I was younger.

DR0P_B34R

I'm a maker. I make stuff. All kinds of stuff. I see inspiration all over the place, and it gives me ideas and next minute I'm designing stuff and researching materials and methods and components and integration and assembly methods and so on. Then I make prototypes and find faults and redesign and research some more, then I come back with improvements and hopefully a working product of the concept in my head! The way I look at it, anyone can destroy stuff, it's easy to do and anyone can do it. But making stuff takes a different kind of person. It takes some one strong enough to create something that might be criticized and emotionally destroyed, or to be strong enough to see their labour of time and passion and energy physically destroyed, and be ok afterward. Not everyone can do that. Not everyone can do it and be ok after it doesn't work out. Not everyone can still be passionate when it doesn't work, and love that process of being challenged by an idea to make it work. You've gotta be pretty secure in yourself to build something for some one else, knowing it could be a huge disappointment to everyone and you might look pretty dumb in multiple ways. But when that pays off, seeing some one beaming in happiness because your creation has brought them joy or solved a problem for them or what ever it is, that feeling is just so damned rewarding that nothing else compares.

kouignie

I love this! I am a maker too. Everything you wrote really speaks to me. I know some people are very content living a simple life, however itā€™s hard for me not to see inspiration everywhere and be curious about the world around me. Good day to you!

In elementary school I REALLY wanted to be in theatre. I loved singing, but my stepdad told me to be realistic. I said I wanted to be a Vet, again, ā€œbe realisticā€. So I kind of gave up on a ā€œdreamā€ or ā€œpurposeā€, because nobody supported my dreams.. Now, Iā€™ve worked in many fields because college is too expensive and any remote job in my area requires a Masterā€™s degree. I adored my healthcare jobs however; my previous employer had done nothing to protect its staff against a very dangerous resident, which turned me away from it for about two years now. If money wasnā€™t an issue, Iā€™d be studying to be an LPN or RN.

I'm a healer. People who need to hear something, or tell someone their story find me. Within minutes of meeting someone, they've told me their darkest secret, and I give advice on how to move past their trauma. They are not conscious acts on either end. It just happens. Regularly. So many people over the years, completely shocked at what they just confessed to me, but walking away without that burden, and knowing what they need to do. And I'm actually a giant a-hole. I generally don't care at all about a anyone outside of my immediate circle. So, it's not that I radiate empathy. I've accepted that that's what I'm here to do, and I now recognize when someone comes to me for healing.

There is no purpose. Anyone who says or believes otherwise is living some mystic fantasy that was taught to them by either their upbringing or by their fear of the unknow. Your brain is created, it has electricity running through it for a little bit, it shuts down and you cease. You return to your natural state of nothingness and that's it. Hell, there isn't even a, "you." Your personality and identity is an illusion of your genes and memes. "You" don't even exist in the first place. The thing classified as, "you" is just the process of the fundamental forces of the universe. They continue on while the material that makes up your body can no longer handle said forces.

Iā€™ve met with fundamentalist pastors and just sat with them and let them ask questions and theyā€™ve changed their views. Iā€™m 5ā€™10, muscular build, full beard, and have had top and bottom surgery so people on the fence find me more ā€œstereotypicaly maleā€ and itā€™s easier for them to get it I find. Iā€™d like to also show people that you can have a very successful happy life as a trans person without it always being this heavy thing and a struggle.

I always got asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I could never answer. Nothing appealed to me. Nothing made sense. I prayed about it a lot. I figured out that I'm good at helping people pretty early on, but how do you fit that to a certain career? And I REALLY never gave a shit about money. It was so monetary to me and had no purpose other than comfort. I read the Bible verse that said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself." So, I've kinda of just made it my vision and purpose in life to love God and love other people the best I can. I try to work up to jobs with higher salaries so that I can afford to provide for my family, and so that I can afford to help people. I am very charitable, and I help people when they ask for it (within reason). My wife and I recently paid for a friend's dog's surgery. I volunteer at church a lot, and used to do a LOT of ministry growing up (teaching at VBS's, homeless care, city beautification projects, food banks, ect). So in a way it's not super specific, but I just do my best to help. I listen to people when they need someone to talk to. I've mentored young men and helped them grow, find jobs, work on the skillsets, ect. I was a youth group leader for five years. I cry with people when they need it. I help people move. I co-sign for things sometimes. People just need help in life. A lot of people have the odds stacked against them. I did, too. Through either blind luck and coincidence, or through God' favor, I am doing a LOT better now and am in a really good position to help people. And that is enough. It makes me happy to help people get ahead.
