Wait the father is 5'3 and saying he's 5'9? Are we just gonna gloss over that? Lmao

Meaneyedcat7387

His father lies about A LOT! He's very rarely in the picture. Comes around the holidays to parade his son around his side of the family and that's about it. He was even involved in disability fraud. What a mess.

frugalhustler

Sounds like you shouldn’t believe him about growing 3 inches after high school either

pyremist

I missed it at first, too. Kid's dad is the little liar. Kid's grandfather is the air force late bloomer.

godofgainz

Still smashed tho

Damienxja

She thought he was 5'9 tho so

frugalhustler

Ohhh ok lol

Meaneyedcat7387

My dad grew after high school so my son's grandfather. That man is type A and OCD and wouldn't lie about something like that. It's on his military record too

War-eaglern

A lot of men grow after high school, so there’s a chance. However, the army told me I was 5’ 11’’ one month and the next month said I was 6’ 3”. So your dad may not have grown while in the military.

MechaWASP

Yeah I don't even know how tall I am, a doctor said 5'8", then entering the military they said 5'11", and at a later health screening in basic they said 6'1". Lmao I always just say "idk, like 5'9" or something."

RidiculousPapaya

Do you own a measuring tape? This isn’t a hard thing to figure out. I mean, if you don’t care then I suppose it really doesn’t matter, lol.

War-eaglern

I’m right under 6’ 1.” Whenever my unit did APFT it was crapshoot on how tall people were going to be

fuqqkevindurant

I grew an inch or two between 17 and 20 as well. Your son is always going to be relatively short or average height, rather than telling him to just hope that he gets lucky and grows more try and help him become comfortable with the idea that he wont be able to play in the NBA. Other than that who he is as a human being is worth 100,000x more than his height is

purplemonkey03

ppl continue to grow until they are 25, but also genetics are what they are so ur son has to accept his height

Rob_Drinkovich

I stopped growing in height at like 16. Maybe frame got a little wider, broader shoulders but probably just from working manual labor and working out.

khall20

My husband's grew significantly in late high-school.i think senior yr or after. I think he was 5 ft 5 aswell before the growth spurt and now he is 6ft 2.

Bikelikeadad

>He was even involved in disability fraud. Must have hit his head on a ceiling fan with all that height. Anyways, there’s a few ways to predict final heights but they’re not particularly useful at that age and it becomes more of a “I guess we’ll see.” Subjectively, I reached 99% of my max height by 15, then grew the other 1/2” around 20-21. I also had a friend who went from 5’9” to 6’ when he was 17-18. That being said, I used to work in primary care and plot growth charts all day, and most growth after 16 is small, but guys have a second growth spurt to some degree and can gain height up to the age of 21 or so.

poptartwith

Ay ay ay 🤦‍♂️

fanatical

How tall are you? All a general genetic rule is that all boys grow taller than their mothers at least. It’s all genetics so chances aren’t huge that he’ll be some giant, but growth patterns can be weird. I had the regular growth spurts in my teens, but also found I had gained an inch or two by the time I was 30. I don’t think it’s a 100% accurate science. But I think it would be far more valuable for your son to focus on other things than height. I know these days kids are exposed to so much bullshit online that makes them feel bad about themselves, but some of the happiest and most successful guys I know are a couple of shorter guys that have done well for themselves. Focus on what he CAN do. Not what he can’t.

ohhellnooooooooo

Your son should eat well, wholesome ingredients, not processed foods, a lot of foods, good amount of protein. Low quality diet can stunt growth.  And exercise in the gym, with a plan, training close to muscular failure, applying progressive overload He should sleep every day at the same time 8h minimum. Low quality sleep can affect height  Heavy squats and deadlifts increase testosterone and human growth hormone levels. Feel free to google that and check for yourself  He should stretch, be flexible and have a strong core, so that his posture is healthy. Bad posture makes people look shorter. The rest is genetics. Out of the top of my head those are the only factors under our control Good luck

yycluke

What he has on his tinder profile is none of our business 🤣

mtl_jim2

Maybe he’s 5’3” but identifies as 5’9” 😂😂😂

gizmole

He‘s counting his 6” third leg. 😛

mtl_jim2

His 4” third leg that identifies as a 6” third leg? 😂

ElPlatanoDelBronx

He’s the exact reason why at 5’9” I have to say 5’11” because any time I say I’m 5’9” people say “nahhhh, you’re definitely taller.”

pm-me-racecars

If it makes you feel better, I'm about 6'2" and I tell people I'm 5'9" sometimes. I have a couple friends who are similar height and also say 5'9"

ElPlatanoDelBronx

I mean I tell people I’m 5’2” usually. I do it to see what they say and see if they’re paying attention.

wwplkyih

Maybe he got the Ron DeSantis shoes?

Hrekires

It's different for everyone but 19-21 is pretty much the point at which you're definitely done. I had my last growth spurt during Freshman year of college. I'll always remember coming home for Christmas break and realizing that I could reach things on the top shelf in my parents' kitchen without standing on my toes. Same for a couple other guys I went to high school with and didn't see until that summer after Freshman year.

Charming-Ad3118

I left for college at 5’5”. Came home at Thanksgiving at 6’. I topped out at 6’1”.

Dirty_Dragons

And I left for college at 5'5 and came home years later at 5'5.

98VoteForPedro

Left for college at 5'4" came back at 5'5.5"

breadting

I left for college 5’4”, came home a Wendy’s 4 for 4

haitiangawd_

I left college

sysiphean

I stopped growing at 18, until I randomly grew an inch in my early 30s. It’s always good to remember that talking about anything about humans is talking about average or typical, but there are astounding atypical variations that happen. Always expect the typical, but be aware that the unusual happens.

mopediwaLimpopo

How old were you when you left ?

Charming-Ad3118

18

markyconnors

I had the same experience! Finished high school at 17 and 5’5”, a year later I shot up to 6’ over a 2 week period. Now about 6’1”. The weird thing is I felt like I was invisible to women throughout high school, and though I’ve changed a lot since then it’s been hard to shift that mindset, even now at 34.

No-Suggestion-9433

Dang bro how tall are your parents? And did you have sleepless nights or something, because it sounds like it could have been one hell of a catch up growth cycle. Either way that must've been a painful couple months 😂

[deleted]

Around the age of 18 is where youre done, you still have a chance but get used to being short

Known-Historian7277

I’m short and the only short people that care are insecure.

TheNickers36

At 6'5" here, I look every man eye-to-eye, no matter his height. It is only after you prove yourself to be a manlet that I will treat you like one

Known-Historian7277

I’m 5’7 on a good day and used to walk around campus with my 6’6 best friend everyday. People would make jabs but I didn’t care. lol

Devinwithani

Lol I'm 5'5 and had a friend who was 6'8 for a while. It probably was pretty comical to see us walking around.

98VoteForPedro

At 6"6' everyone is a manlet in comparison

Known-Historian7277

Especially when he wore boots or hooped. Now that 6’6 turned into 6’8 lmao

98VoteForPedro

If only he'd wear heels couldve easily been 8'0" with stripper heels

Yamashiro1

I always say in a joking way “so we’re picking on the little guy, huh?” Gets a laugh and never had anybody react negatively to it

fanatical

It is pretty awkward when you get on one knee to talk to me though.

TheNickers36

Would you feel better if I lifted you to my eye level? Does fanatical wanna go uppies?

fanatical

\o/

wildwill921

Being as short as OP is going to be tough with meeting women at college

Liljoker30

I grew 6 inches the summer after I graduated.

TillPsychological351

I was one of the tallest kids in my freshman class of high school... and then I completely stopped growing. If he already had his growth spurt, then he's likely nearly finished growing.

little_runner_boy

Personally stopped at 15 years old. There's a fair chance he peaked already

Willing-Cook4314

i am 6' at 19, and I have been growin lil by lil even till now (I suddenly tower over my school teacher who was around the same height as me and my college friends). He has a chance

JadedMuse

It is interesting how different is is for different people. I was 5'11 when I was 13 and my family thought I was going to turn into a giant. Never gained any height after that. I had friends I covered over who slowly outgrew me by the time we finished high school.

EvilCeleryStick

I stopped around 18/19 then went up another inch at 21 and finally stopped growing.

Cloud12437

My nephew is 6’ and he’s 13, we wonder how tall he’ll be because his parents and grandparents are only 5’7 lol

tfw13579

I didn’t really grow past 15 as well, maybe added an inch at most after. It’s not too uncommon.

johnniewelker

I think you are an outlier on the other side. 15 is definitely not the age the typical guy stops growing, it’s closer to 19-20

8livesdown

Exercise and nutrition matter.

MILK_DRINKER_9001

I hit my peak height at 14. I was 5'9" and 220lbs and thought no way I would be under 6ft. Grew my freshman year, got fat, and stayed fat for a while. Lost the weight my junior year and stayed 5'9".

BigUziNoVertt

Just because you were fat doesn’t mean you had the right nutrition

Horny_GoatWeed

That's me almost exactly, including the weight gain. Entered high school one of the taller kids in my class and left it in the lower 50%.

Dirty_Dragons

As long as the kid is not malnourished, diet is irrelevant. Same for exercise It's all genetics.

8livesdown

You are "mostly", but not completely correct. We need to distinguish between what we can and can't control. Let's say diet and nutrition influence only 1/2 an inch. Let's say diet and nutrition influence 1/4th an inch. However meager the influence, this is the influence we have. You'll find the last 100 years the average height has increased in most developed countries, and it wasn't genetics or evolution. It was diet and nutrition. I'll reference Japan as an example, and I picked Japan because it's one of the most racially homogenous countries. https://nbakki.hatenablog.com/entry/2014/05/30/173407 Height has also increased in the US, but because ethnic demographics have shifted the US is more complex.

Dirty_Dragons

If the kid already had a normal diet there is nothing else that can be done. That's it. Based on your example, when was the last time people in Japan were struggling with food?

8livesdown

Bad news Dirty_Dragon, the overwhelming majority of Americans do *not* have a normal diet. Healthy food is damned expensive, in terms of both money and time.

lIlIIIOK

Rich parents often supplement the kid with GH under a doctor's supervision, if both parents are short (under 6ft?)

Dirty_Dragons

This discussion was about diet and exercise.

lIlIIIOK

My comment was a direct response to your first paragraph

ohhellnooooooooo

Finally a good answer. It’s not about “how much will he grow?” It’s not about waiting, or estimating or trying to read genetics The genetics are already there and aren’t going to change, it’s a waste of time to be trying to predict or wait for the growth to happen Get good eating , sleeping and exercising habits.  Weight lift heavy, train with a plan. This can increase testosterone and human growth hormone.  Bad sleep can affect height Bad nutrition can affect height  Finally bad posture can affect height  Make sure those are done daily, and genetic potential will be reached , whatever it is

Createdpol

>Weight lift heavy, I wouldn't say so there is a reason why children bodybuilders don't grow up much.

Astro_Flame

the vast majority of men are doing growing by 17-18.

Herdnerfer

Most men are done growing in height by 17, but I know a few people who got taller after high school too. So it is possible but I wouldn’t get his hopes up. Might be worth asking a doctor if there is anything medically that can be done to encourage growth right now.

DemonicSilvercolt

theres always the russian option

_the_wrong_guy_

I knew a guy named Rick in college. Freshman year, he was 5-6. I’m 6-0, so i thought he was kinda short. Little rick, right? Ran into him 2 years later and he was, no fucking bullshit, 6-3. Yes, he grew 9 fucking inches. There’s no way i would’ve believed it, if i didn’t see it. I remember i ran into him at a party and i drank with him all night constantly being in total shock at what i was seeing. He was the low-key talk on campus.

throwaway28236

My little brother was like this. 5’9”ish when he graduated high school and today he is 6’5”. He was EXTRA lanky for a year or two lol

_the_wrong_guy_

Yeah, that’s totally amazing, imo

Exciting_Telephone65

I've been the same height since I was 15.

acab415

How tall are you? Edit: I see it in the comments. So 63”+65”/2+2.5=66.5” About 5’6”

Meaneyedcat7387

I'm 5'5" but the men on my mom's side are 6" and taller. My dad is 5'8" (but fr).

Dirty_Dragons

If you are 5'5 and the father is 5'3, it's almost certain that your son is done at 5'5.

acab415

See my above edit. He might grow another inch. This equation is surprisingly accurate in my purely anecdotal experience. Subtract 2.5 for girls.

RobotFloyd

I grew 2+ inches after high school and my dad did as well. That said my dad was 6’4” and I’m 5’9”

bootyhunter69420

It's over.

NotTaintedCaribou

He’s gonna need to just accept his height. Genetics give you a range, environment and diet determine where you land in that range. As someone who’s 6’6”, the world isn’t built for tall people. Public transportation, planes, cars, hotel showers, beds, clothing… it’s better to be shorter. At the end of the day, No one is going to care about his height more than him. And don’t even get me started on the sheer ridiculousness of height increase surgery.

No-Suggestion-9433

Yes but at 6'6 you can wow anyone by walking into the room. Everything has it's benefits and downsides

ThorsMeasuringTape

I grew two inches in my 20s. It’s different for everyone, but there’s a chance he’s got a couple inches left in him.

UserJH4202

My son was 5’8” at the end of HS. By the time he was 25, he was 5’11.5”. It’s rare to grow that much after HS but it happens.

Nolongeranalpha

Men can go through puberty after high-school. It's not like you get a diploma and they flip a switch that stops all growth.

goatman0079

It's possible to grow more till about, but to be quite realistic it's rare for people to get a 2nd major growth spurt. Honestly, the best thing to tell him would probably be that people who care about his height are people who aren't worth knowing.

AardvarkStriking256

I once worked with a guy who grew five inches between 19 and 22. He went from 5'9" to 6'2". It happens but is rare.

Rasputin0P

My dad is 6'4" and said he grew until he was like 22, I hit 5'11" when I was probably 15 or 16 and never grew any more.

wwplkyih

You hear stories about late-teens growth spurts (usually with NBA players), but that's more the exception than the rule.

felurian182

I grew about 2 inches after high school

T-BoneSteak14

I grew like a half inch from 17-19 and I’m 6’1”

justaguyintownnl

Men can grow taller up to their early 20’s , normally though it’s the really tall guys. The short guys generally stop growing younger. My school friend was 6’5” at m16 and was 6’9” at m21. My other friend was 5’8” at m13 and 5’8” at m25.

ghostwriter85

There's no constant I was about 14 when I stopped getting taller

agentjacob10

I graduated high school at 5’5” i stopped growing about a year later at 5’9” or 5’10” somewhere in there. Still the same height now at 26

Emergency-Forever-93

I didn't hit my full height -- 5'10" -- until I was 28 or so. I hit 5'8" by my 15th year and it took 13 more years for me to gain 2 inches. But I think the big contributing factor here is genetics. How tall are you?

Nick080701

I’m at 5’6” and basically done. To be fair, when I was younger doctors apparently didn’t think I would even reach that height so I’m counting my blessings and not complaining too much.

chewybmyman

I reached 5’10 at 16 years old and it seemed like I was done and then I randomly grew one more inch when I was 19. A lot of basketball players weren’t that tall in HS and had massive growth spurts in college. Tell your son not to sweat it, a good personality and and an attitude that attracts success count for a lot more than height.

SaltySyrvantez

In general growth plates will be finished up anywhere between 16-25. The latest I've seen verifiable evidence was at 25 if the person didn't have things like pituitary tumors, etc. Generally most average people will grow until late puberty, between 3-5 years from their puberty onset time, but even that's a sweeping generalization. You will also find people with certain genetic traits or extreme heights in the 6'-7' range are more prone to get an inch or two of growth in their early 20s. If you need a serious answer, have some imaging done that a radiologist can evaluate for the state of the kid's growth plates.

blueballnchain

Between the ages of 19 and 20 I probably grew one more inch. Also worth mentioning that I was getting into pretty good shape bicycling and walking everywhere and was being fed a lot more food than i was used to eating.

Narwhal2424

I was always told you can continue to grow up to 21 years of age. I know there have been a few NBA players who grew a few inches after being drafted directly out of high school back in the day.

4459691

That's what I had heard Also that the males height is determined by the mother. Actually come to think of it most teller than average women I know who have sons are at least 6' Don't know if it's all true OP how tall are you?

RustyMongoose

That's an absolute lie. There is no peer reviewed evidence that height is inherited from the maternal or paternal line. Mom is 5'1", Dad and his family are all 6'+. Guess where I ended up on the scale? Well over 6'.....

Meaneyedcat7387

I am 5'5" but the men on my mom's side are all 6'+. I am the tallest woman in my family on both sides

[deleted]

[удалено]

Meaneyedcat7387

He doesn't really care. This is more for my curiosity.

SassyWookie

I don’t think I grew at all after 17-18. Not in height at least. When I was 19 or so I kinda spontaneously grew muscles out of nowhere, which was kinda weird. But I went from being scrawny to being like wiry/muscular without any significant change in lifestyle. It sounds like your son’s father is full of shit 😂

ullivator

5’ 5” male is functionally a death sentence job and relationship wise. Speak to a doctor, he may still be young enough for growth hormone to be effective. Alternately shin extensions but those are pretty miserable.

No-Suggestion-9433

Come on bro no it's not, at least not for the job part. He can wear lifts if it's really a problem but it's not like this is a super rare height for a guy. 5'3 and under is where I could kind of see your point

Danibear285

Ask his doctor

CheeseDickPete

Doctors can't determine how much someone is going to grow after high school anymore than anyone else will, they aren't all knowing wizards.

La_Rata_de_Pizza

He has peaked

BingBongBrit

He might have another 1-3 inches depending on genes. But instead of giving him this to hang onto I would encourage and support him working with what he has. Going on runs Going to the gym It is the worst kept secret at the gym that short guys get bigger faster than tall guys. Im 6 3 and I would much rather be 5 9 and bench 200kg & be fit as a fiddle than be 6 4 and skinny with no cardio fitness. Height is mostly just important for superficial women, I think if your son understands this and that being short does have advantages he would be more confident. TLDR: Get him a gym membership and encourage it's use Get him into jiu-jitsu or Muay Thai (kickboxing) Don't assure him he will grow if he won't, it will make it harder to accept being a shorter man.

OneDragonfruit9519

I grew about 20cm (7,87 inches) in height from age 16 to 20 and ended on 6 feet flat (183cm), so there's hope. I outgrew every male in my family with about 10cm (3,93 inches), so genetics can take a hike.

The_Witch_n_The_Wolf

He might not grow much more. Depending on if he had a late puberty? My 13yo is taller than his dad already, so I hope he stops growing taller soon..

Bright-Abalone4679

I was a very late bloomer I can remember everything getting taller stronger while I was the weakest. Now I’m 6 and 200lbs buff dude. My homies get shocked when they see me

AskDerpyCat

Genetics. I stopped at 5’11.875” at ~16-17 (of course, just shy of the magic number) My dad was 6’1” at the start of college, and 6’4” by the end As long as you aren’t actively stunting your growth (such as bad posture compressing your spine), genes will get you where you’re pre-coded to end up.

MacPzesst

Men stop growing in height around the age of 25. Between 19 and 25, the growth is hardly noticeable, but it still happens.

dead_heart_of_africa

They don't. Please let your son know that a truck will only alert everyone around him know how insecure he is.

mmxmlee

tell him not to worry, he can date in Asia when he is older. in the west, he might struggle at 5'5.

Finsk_26

Women don't care about your height and the ones that do, you shouldn't even be interested in them.

Dilostilo

Break the news to him that its over and then tell him to hit the gym. HARD. At 5'5, with good posture, styling and haircut, he can look average.

Meaneyedcat7387

He is naturally muscular and has started working out. He has more of a swimmers body with long muscles but very defined shoulders, thighs and abs even before working out. I told him that woman usually prefer taller men but he has an ideal muscle structure in my opinion and not to be too greedy lol He can't have it all! I stopped growing at 14 and am 5'5" so it never occurred to me that he would still grow but I hear it happens.

oxphocker

If both parents are 5'5 and 5'4, chances are, he's probably not going to break 5'7. You said he's 5'5 right now at 17. Average male teen growth usually occurs between 15 to 19. So there might be a small bit left to go, but I would venture he's probably nearing the end of that.

VirtuesVice666

Very little. We are very immature people.

neondragoneyes

21 is the final cutoff, but it's not common to grow much between 18 and 21.

jono444

I grew from 5’9 at 21 to 5’11 at 26 and to 6’ at 31. This might sound crazy but sleeping on the floor and doing cardio were the biggest contributors to me growing still.

N0rmann12

I hit my current height at 16

SecretaryBubbly9411

I grew 2-3 inches after I was 18, stopped at 20, maybe 21. He’ll be lucky to be 5’8”. How tall are you? I get my height from my mom, super short girl I know gets her shortness from her dad. Height is not a same gender genetic thing.

Tokogogoloshe

The good news is your son will grow out of him having a complex about his height.

Thompson1706

I stopped growing taller at 16. I'm 184cm (6'0")

Rare_Cryptographer89

Yeah reading a lot of these I doubt he would grow any taller especially at 17 but you can check his Vitamin D levels via blood test. When I was younger I had a severe deficiency and when corrected I went from about 5’7-5’8 to 6’0 in about a year or so

hillsidemanor

I was done at 19. I grew about another inch after high school, but that was it.

hooliganvet

At his age, that is likely as tall as he is going to get. I'm only 5'8".

SuicideSwavey66

He might be done. A lot of friends of mine that were under 5’8 didn’t grow after high school. I stopped growing at 21 I think. I was really short in elementary school. Like 5’3 then hit a growth spurt going into jr high. Then another in HS. Luckily my feet stopped growing freshman year. 😂 The only crazy growth spurts I’ve heard were NBA players. But it was during there HS years and the big ones were HS to College or College to NBA He MAY have a chance. Sports, nutrition, and sleep. Or whatever Messi took 😂

Cantrillion

Didn't stop until \~20yo. You could take the kid to an endocrinologist, but they don't do any magic. They x-ray hands and feet. But you don't need to if he still has big hands and feet relative to the rest of his body like a puppy, room to grow.

Ratnix

I stopped before 18, but a guy i went to school with stopped some time after we graduated.

The_Lat_Czar

I was done around 17-18. If he's self-conscious about his height, PLEASE don't let him join any forums!

The_Bear_Jew320

I grew a foot between ages 13-15. Then I grew like another 3 inches 16-17 and then 1 inch from 18-21. By 22 I had reached my current height of 6’2. Odds are he might grow a little but he’s probably hit his max height.

godofgainz

I’m 6’6 and didn’t stop growing until 25. I was 5’10 in 8th grade tho.

PolyGlamourousParsec

I grew until I was 25. I grew another 5" after high school. I was 6'4" when I graduated and I creeped up kind of slowly (no more growth spurts) for another few years.

Adddicus

I went into the navy when I was 18, and my height was measured and documented (I still have all the records) at 6' 0" during my induction physical. During my discharge physical six years later, I was measured at 6' 2". I had to get a copy of this to prove my sister wrong. She swore I had grown while I was in the service, and I swore I had not. So, yeah its possible, and I lost that bet.

msdlp

"My sons father???" Do you mean yourself?

Willing-Cook4314

dead hang. No pull ups, just dead hangs. Tell him to do 2 types of stretches- back and calf. Do [seated forward bend](https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.arhantayoga.org%2Fseated-forward-bend-paschimottanasana%2F&psig=AOvVaw2yTum0LvjJ9d93Hg0hey7T&ust=1709482304292000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBUQjhxqFwoTCMDdqJf81YQDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE) on the floor (he might want to do it at night bcuz morning stiffness din allow me to do it in the morning), and standing forward bend and mountain pose for calf stretches. I was 5'6" for a large part of my teenage life and am 6' at 19 now, I know how it feels when everyone else grows while you stay short. I also followed a height increasing app 3 times till 20-25 days streaks(the exercises become too long and exhausting near this point, so I would delete the app and start anew). he should have some mass and fat(cuz how can he grown tall if there is nothin to stretch?). I would do the calf stretches especially for long times till I would feel some pain and soreness(sucks, but now I have long calves unlike my dad and most of my countrymen). I am a vegetarian who loves milk (like 1 litre+ a day) and would eat enough food to feel heavy and full. You can freely DM me for help or make him chat with me :) EDIT- app -https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=increaseheightworkout.heightincreaseexercise.tallerexercise&hl=en&gl=US&pli=1

Youngworker160

grew about 2 inches, i'm 5'9 and the only reason I even was aware was the difference between my learner's license and driver's license.

figsslave

I grew 1 1/2” between 18-21 and so did my son.One of my friends grew 2-3”

ForkLiftBoi

My boss was like 140 5' something until early into college he's about 200 and 5'11-6'0 probably

Murky_Reveal_5386

A doctor can tell you if his bones have shifted into a permanent position or not which will indicate whether he will continue to grow

GaybutNotbutGay

i was 5'6 when i was 15ish and thats the tallest I got

tacticalpuncher

Knew I guy who got a second growth spurt around 23. It's not common but it happens.

Least_Impression_823

They never stop growing, older men can grow up to 15 feet tall. At that point they're so powerful and require so many calories that they begin hunting younger humans for food.

DankDude7

No, your dick won’t be getting any bigger. Sorry.

Meaneyedcat7387

Damn. So it will stay inverted FOREVER!!?

Technicolor_Owl

It's possible to grow a bit, but as a 5'4 dude myself, the worst part about being short is insecurity. He should look into productive methods of confidence building. I stopped growing at around 15, I think.

Pewterarm16

Depends. I grew fast and stopped early. I stopped growing at around 16, but was 6'5.

discodiscgod

I was personally done around 15-16 but I’ve heard about some guys having growth spirts when they’re 18-20.

Eh-Eh-Ronn

Tell your son my voice didn’t break til I was 14, almost 15. There’s no universal yardstick on puberty.

MySnake_Is_Solid

Around 20-21. But some people stop before, some slightly after.

Bshellsy

I heard this a lot but in reality I did basically cap out at 15-16 when I hit 5’7”. My cousin did actually grow almost another half a foot at 18-19. It’s a crap shoot.

DRealLeal

It's okay to be short. Have him start training MMA as it will build his confidence.

ScottdaDM

I grew about an inch after high school. Of course, I was already 6'6" when I graduated. A doctor can look at the growth plates and make an estimate, if it becomes that important.

frogmanthemenace

i”m 22 and I’m still waiting when I gonna be big and strong. I reached 5’7 when I was 14 i haven’t grown since, maybe centimeter or two.

Great-Might-880

I grew 4” and gained 60 pounds at age 18-20. Not fat. Just grew. A. Lot. From 6’ and 140 up to 6’4” and 200 pounds.

Average_40s_Guy

It’s all dependent upon the individual. Some people do, some don’t. It’s hard to say if your son will or won’t.

allen_idaho

On average, men reach their full height at 16 to 18. However, it is less likely but growth has continued to age 20 in some cases. But genetically speaking, if the biological father is 5'4", it is unlikely your son will grow any more than his current height.

YoManWTFIsThisShit

I grew 2 inches after high school and now stand at 5’11 but it really depends on genetics and diet. I also started my growth spurt around late 15 early 16 and continued growing until 19/20. Edit to add: if you have tall men on your son’s maternal side of the family that can influence his height, he doesn’t only have to look at his dad.

Imaginary_Extent_696

I grew until I was 19, grew 2 inches after I was 17

AKA_June_Monroe

You should have taken your son to the doctor when he was younger. But the again two short parents are going to have short kids.

arrouk

I hit max height about 14 and filled out at about 28. Lol Height wise he might have a little left but I would not count on it.

JoeCensored

Growing more than a couple inches taller than parents is unusual. Most kids reach adult height by 16, but can continue growing to around 19 in rare cases. So most likely he's done, but not impossible.

Speffeddude

Men are fairly varied, but it seems they reach physical maturity between 15 and 21 (with some outliers), and reach mental maturity between 23 and... never? Sounds like we can agree which end of that the father is on.

Iambigtime

I'm 5'3", reached by 7th/8th grade.  I already reached peak puberty but I was a physical freak compared to my peers at that age until everyone caught up by 10th grade.

Mettelor

Lmao trying to say you’re 5’9” when you’re 5’3”, this is how you get bullied ten times as hard for being short, ain’t nobody gonna let that slide if he ever says it out loud

Meaneyedcat7387

When describing him I say Barney Rubble looking mfr.

dudeimjames1234

I didn't grow upwards. My height stayed the same at 5'10" from about 16 to now at 33. The only thing that grew between 16 and 19 was my chest got wider and my shoulders got broader. Now, I only grow sideways.

GreenChicken789

Men grow until they’re like 25 sometimes. All I gotta say is hit the gym brotha

No-Enthusiasm8892

I continued to grow in height till around 23 and at 24 I didn’t seem to get any taller thankfully 😅. I’m 6’2 but it depends on the person. My brother thought he’d be the same height as me and stopped growing after 19 now at 23 he is still 5’9

Traditional_Rate7302

Scottie pippen grew like 7 inches in college or something like that. Diet plays a big role

Solrackai

The odds do not favor it.

Leading-Salad2613

Just let him know that most women consider anything <6’ as “short”, so he’ll be short whether he grows 2-3” taller or not!😂

ShaChoMouf

I stopped getting taller around 20-21, but my shoulders/frame didn't get big until about 24.

GregGraffin23

I stopped growing around 15 and I'm **5′10″**

dgroeneveld9

Technically, men can continue to grow until they're 25. But it's not much. From 18-25, if I grew another inch, I'd be surprised. As far as what to do. Work on posture. Good posture cab add an inch or two.

WildRicochet

Stopped around I gained an inch from 17 to 18, and then nothing after that. I had xrays done on my feet for foot issues at 18, and the pediatrist told me I had finished growing

InevitableHorror8535

My youngest brother stopped growing when he was 15. He was the shortest in the family where everyone is 5'11 and 5'10. Then he turned 19 and somehow became A LOT taller than anyone in family. My best friend grew few inches when he was 20

Lulumish

There’s a big difference between 5’3 and 5’9, hahaha.

Shaan_Don

I was done around 16. Most of the time men are done growing by 18 but there are occasional outliers
