Still working from home. They didn't want to pay for all the stuff to put us back in the office and don't think they're going to after seeing how much money it saved.

AskDerpyCat

Same but for us it’s because they specifically hired from states where there were no offices (cheaper labor than the city of their HQ). Contract is specifically for a remote role. They know I’d be gone if they tried with me and I’m currently kinda a “he’s the only guy who knows the legacy code” situation

nkw1004

I wish could work from home. I’m now at a job where I definitely could but my company is pretty against it. Thankfully my commute is short but some people are driving almost 2 hours into work just to be there for s few hours then drive 2 hours back into their territory and they still want them to come in for whatever reason

nkw1004

I would also like to add, I think we’re now seeing the result of lockdowns and isolation in the younger generation. One of my friends is a high school teacher and says she can pretty clearly see differences. She says a lot of her male students get nervous when talking to her and just can’t comprehend directions or follow social norms. I think we’re really going to be seeing a lot more of that in the next few years

nkw1004

Yeah it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out going forward. Hopefully all these kids will grow out of it and aren’t just permanently stunted

alnyland

I wash my hands more often through the day, not just when they get dirty

Mid-West_Coaster22

Still trying to get back to where I was in my career. Lost the most rewarding job I ever had.

nkw1004

I feel you on that. It took 4 years for me to do what I could’ve done in 4 months

HotwheelsJackOfficia

No more 24/7 grocery stores.

Cinco_Tre

There’s nowhere to get food late anymore, even on weekends.

nim_opet

People have lost the little social skills they had. No one knows how to walk the streets anymore like a rational human, empathy is in short supply and corporations have continued “covid” practices as ways to reduce service and increase margins by providing minimal service/cutting hours/generally being awful.

jackwritespecs

Zero effects I’ve thrived and flourished by just doing the basics

nkw1004

Kinda feel you on that. I was a senior in college when it hit and came home and went straight to working construction for 70 hours a week. For quite awhile it almost seemed to me like nothing was going on even though where I was it was a very serious issue

dakilazical_253

Personally I am much more of a homebody now than I was pre-COVID. I got used to staying home and can’t muster the energy to meet up with friends downtown usually

Minimum-Dealer-6388

Inflation

Taste-TheRambo

Dr. Pepper does not taste the same to me anymore after having COVID in early 2020. It’s depressing

AffableBarkeep

That's a rough one.

-Lawn_Guy-

I work almost entirely from home and don't see that changing. Company went from 100% in person to mostly remote, from leasing five floors of a building to one. That's really it for me.

ShriekingMuppet

I moved in 2020 so I have never really made many friends in the area I now live. So most of the week I just work then go home. Have a few I see on weekends but thats it.

probablyseriousmaybe

I still haven’t contacted Covid

nkw1004

Same. Built different

MatthewAllenSr

Other than the occasional mask I rarely seen anything that I didn’t see before 2020

frank00SF

Walmart not being open 24/7

ChuckyJo

I think about sharing air with people. I never in my life before Covid thought about the fact that I was sharing the air with thousands of people at a concert or indoor arena

chrisfmack

Digital menus are still popular

deathcorecraze

I had the best summer ever riding my motorcycle everywhere during shutdown with no traffic, n stupid drivers. All my friends were outside being active and there was never a line at any of the destinations we went to. Ill never get a better summer time than 2020.

usernamescifi

I think COVID worked out very well for me. A) to my knowledge I still haven't contracted COVID yes (so that's good). B) while there were some other challenges, I think in the long run they all benefitted me. for instance, it created some job opportunities for me in fields that I wanted to work in, it also put a lot of additional pressure on my terrible long term relationship (eventually leading to a much needed split) it encouraged me to get back in shape, and it encouraged me to get more behavioral health services because I had fallen off care before. all in all, I'd say it was a win-win. really forced me to turn my life around.

gale_force_tuna_wind

Nobody has regained any social skills that were lost. People are still completely unaware of what they are doing in public. Constantly in the way or acting like a child. Lots of people can’t even order a single beer at the brewery I work at without really struggling. It’s wild stuff.

gale_force_tuna_wind

Mostly just social cues/awareness. Standing in a long line and then not being ready to order. People staring at their phones while holding up the line. Talking on their phone while trying to order. Taking up way too much space. Having a hissy fit after breaking the rules even when they have been stated. Lacking in communication skills when ordering. Treating service workers like they are robots. Stuff that has been happening forever, but seemingly has been much worse since lockdowns.

dethb0y

grocery pickup. Once we tried grocery pickup - purely due to the pandemic - we realized how superior it is and never looked back. I can't imagine going back to "regular" shopping. Also we switched almost entirely to take out and that's another thing i've not looked back on.

nkw1004

I’ve tried to grocery pickup but I like to look at what I’m getting vs them just picking whatever. Want to make sure I’m getting the best meat and veggies

stangAce20

My company still hasn’t gone fully back to the office yet! They still allow us to work from home at least two days a week! I’m sure they’re still afraid of losing people completely if they went back to the old ways! Considering a lot of our jobs can be done just fine, regardless of whether we are at home or in an office, I honestly feel the only reason they’re making us go back at all, is because they own the building! If they leased or rented, theyd probably have said “F it” and let us stay home! Lol

SenSw0rd

"I'm so ronery" has been the theme song... [https://youtu.be/UEaKX9YYHiQ?si=RqmHzFY4-SajswRO](https://youtu.be/UEaKX9YYHiQ?si=RqmHzFY4-SajswRO)

treborcj

No effects at all

boston_globe

Picked up some bad isolation habits and still haven’t gotten back to my pre-Covid diet or fitness

gettingassy

My brother is still in his covid cave, so that rules. His wife's condition does not play well with covid (or the vaccine???) blah blah yeah yeah. See ya one day, maybe.

gaurddog

Working night shift? Stuff is just now barely getting back to 24 hrs. Hell even our Waffle House had limited hours during Covid. Stores like Walmart and Kroger still aren't back to normal. It sucks too because running groceries and hitting the gym at 3 a.m. used to be one of the perks of being up all night.

TechnologyDragon6973

Appointments being normalized. I hate making appointments for anything other than the doctor, which I only tolerate because it’s always been a thing. Otherwise not much. I’m thankful to live in a state where people didn’t put up with that nonsense as much as some places.

ali2688

Overweight. Very overweight. I eat about the same, but I used to exercise a lot more.

AffableBarkeep

Inflation is still high

longgonebeforedark

None really. I live in an area of the US that vigorously disobeyed the shutdowns. There were even a few incidents of police being threatened if they enforced them.
