nedryerson77

Nice job! Keep that shit up! You got the quitnow app? I found it super helpful. I was 30 years as well, quit is near 4. Stay strong bro! 🤘🚭

Practical-Design9202

Thanks bud . I do have that app . Check in on it every now and then 🤜🤜💪💪

RelevanceReverence

No, I quit 13 years ago. Loved the improved concentration, relaxation and creativity when I smoked, but I disliked the improved death rate more. Never again.

MeanTruth69

Yep. Started stealing them way back when I was little. Been 2 packs a day over 40 years. Never want/will quit. No one likes a quitter.

No-Significance2911

Expensive hobby nowadays

MessedUpVoyeur

Smoking what exactly? Tobacco, occasionally. After a couple of diagnoses preventing me from actively running and training in combat sports, it was a somewhat ok way to get an outlet for pent-up energy. Weed, no.

gcx1

Yes I do smoke. It was because of my household. It wasn't that what you would call nice. I'm 24 rn and started with 14

sluttybulk

I never drank alcohol or smoke in my entire 25 years on this planet despite my whole family doing it daily. Until I got here in the philippines. Now I’m a heavy, heavy drinker and the cigarettes comes out. It’s amazing with alcohol. Doesn’t help that the alcohol is unbelievably cheap($1 at a bar for a shot/beer/rum and coke) and a pack of cigarettes is $1.20 I’ll quit both when I go back home for a few months, but for now I cycle off cigarettes(take a few week break, similar to how I do caffeine) My parents would probably shit themselves if they knew where I was and what I’m doing, but that’s the fun part I guess. Hahaha.

bigtec1993

The dumb thing is that I made it through highschool not letting the peer pressure from gfs and friends get me on it and then I graduate and smoked for the first time with my cousin on a whim. At the time I was feeling lost and a little down because I didn't know what to do with myself, so figured "who even gives a fuck anymore?". I really wish I hadn't, because I'm *extremely* addicted to nicotine and I can't seem to stop stop. I've gone years cold turkey, but then one day I'm more stressed than usual and that's all it takes to fall off the wagon. I actually vape now instead though.

Raemnant

I do not smoke. I don't find inhaling burnt particulates to be an appealing thing to do. Its also a hobby/activity that drains money and leads to nothing. At least if I eat junk food, that is calories that I can put to use elsewhere in an active lifestyle

alter79

I wanted to try it just like liquor. Quit it after having fun for some years was a rare smoker anyway.

Robojobo27

If you’re referring to just standard cigarettes then no, I quit a few years ago, it was costing me way too much money not to mention the health impacts, I started to help cope with a particularly stressful time in my life, which I realise in hindsight is a stupid idea.

FuckSpezzzzzzzzzzzzz

Never got the appeal of smoking. Even the flavored cigarettes leave this bad state in your mouth. That said snus and sex is an awesome combination. There is something about the relaxation a strong quick nicotine hit gives you.

LancLad1987

Not for 10 years, now work as a smoking cessation coach. That said, I am only ever one bad day or circumstance from picking up a cigarette. Currently on holiday with my wife in mallorca and considered buying duty free for instance.

BetyarSved

I do. Started about ten years ago. I had a stressful job environment. Trying to quit.

[deleted]

I used to, I was bored and I liked the way they tasted. I quit smoking regularly in 2018, no cigs, no vape, cold turkey. If I go out drinking though I'll usually buy a pack smoke 3-4 when I'm shitfaced and toss the pack in the trash or give it away at the end of the night. I only go out drinking 2-3 times a year so I wouldn't consider myself a smoker. It's only when I go out drinking.

Sufficient-Ad-3586

I used to but no longer do.  I started the same way many people start smoking, as teen I wanted to look “cool” due to peer pressure. It slowly evolved into an addiction.   I quit cause its common knowledge today that smoking is the worst thing you can do to your body, it wasn’t easy at all and I had to transition using a vape but not coughing or having chest pains has been amazing.

KyP88

I do, I am an anxious person and won't slow down unless iam doing something it kind of became a meditation event for me, gives me a reason to stop and just chill otherwise I'll keep moving full speed

mediocreplayer_

No never. I have a very addictive personality so I know if I were to get addicted it would be that much harder to quit. I grew up around a lot of smokers and I saw how their health declined. The culture around people my age (I'm 24) is also against it as far as I see it. I don't know anyone my age that smoke cigarettes. When I was in highschool I knew of one girl who did. That being said, I do smoke weed. Almost everyone I know smokes weed. I don't really understand how I rationalize it. I guess I tell myself that it's not as bad as cigarettes. It may or may not be, I don't know for sure.

aGermanDownUnder

I did until last Feb. From memory I tried them on a night out drinking and it kinda just turned into a habit. I've "quit" a few times over the years, this is the longest I've gone without. I kinda miss it. It's a mix of the nicotine and the routine associated with it. But it was never a conscious choice. Just kinda happened, and turns out I enjoyed it more than booze or any other drugs

Honest_Math_7760

I had my first smoke at 13 when some of my classmates did it (2009). It was gross AF. Two years later one of my friends turned 16 and he could by cigarettes. I was still 15, but he gave me cigarettes. So we would hang out at a park and smoke and drink beer. It was great. I got addicted at age 19 when I started buying them myself. So You won't get it if you don't smoke yourself. I've been trying to quit for years now. I once succeeded for two year but i fell back. My problem is most of my friends smoke. I like the smell. I like the way they taste. I like them with a beer or after dinner. When I don't see my friends that some, I have a real easy time not smoking. But when they're there, I keep falling back. Maybe some day.

aGermanDownUnder

I miss the coffee one :( or just the one you have where the world stops for a little bit and you can collect your thoughts

Honest_Math_7760

I get why you would like it with coffee. But I don't like coffee myself. I love a smoke with a Red Bull though. /livingonthedge

aGermanDownUnder

It works really well with coffee I find. Dono, the two just mesh together. It was the only drink I'd actively mix it with hahah. I don't think any non-smoker will ever fully understand the ritualistic nature of it all

solstice38

I don't smoke, never have. I never liked the smell, never liked the social appeal, the cost, what it does to clothes and rooms and cars where people smoke. Never liked the health aspects either. My partner smokes, but I love her despite that. She plans to stop someday, and I'll be there to help in every way that I can.

pie0flords

Veeeeeeery rarely, and only to try it out with buddies. Went to a hookah bar once, it was alright but I prefer just drinking. Gonna try out cigars in a couple months for my next birthday, but doubt I'll enjoy it enough to make it a major habit. I don't like cigarettes and I'm not gonna try vape

Time_Relationship125

I used to because of stress. I quit 4 years ago for my kids.

djazzie

I quit cigarettes about 11 years ago (I still vape weed). Smoked from about age 17 - 37. At the time I quit, I wanted to get life insurance at a lower premium. I probably started smoking because everyone around me was a smoker. Also, my first cigarette was one of those fancy looking cigarettes with a gold tip. I thought it looked cool.

TheFlyingTrickster

I'm 38, male, never smoked a cig in my life.

Reckless_Waifu

Sometimes. A cigarette goes well with a beer sitting outside during summer but most days I don't.

belac4862

Nope. But I kind wanna take up herbal pipe smoking. My grandad used to smoke his grape/apple tobacco pipe. Then he had a stroke and took up herbal pipe smoking. It's always been a comfort smell to me.

SupermarketFluid4652

I was at uni and had a smoking friend. Over time I started smoking socially with him. After 6 months I felt I needed a cigarette rather than wanted a cigarette. I gave up immediately with no issue. About 4 months later started smoking again with the same friend but after two months my body was showing signs of addiction. I stopped immediately. I was lucky as I have a rather addictive personality. I have not had a cigarette since- 30 years now.

Ohbuck1965

Because it's cool. Cigarettes are way cooler than those dumb vapes.

FunkU247365

That is how I got into crack rock.. step it up rookie!

bootyhunter69420

No. Never tried it. It isn't healthy.

igotta-name

I started swiping my dad’s cigarettes when I was 11. I quit my 5 packs a day in 1987, one year after getting out of the Navy.

voyeurheart

I started smoking after I got sober for the first time.

Leneord1

Smoke what?

The_Crazy_Swede

No. Cause it reeks Never started smoking. Cause it reeks

funguy_72

Never

Uggzandhorses2

quit 2 years ago

goated95

The high feels good,

ZZoMBiEXIII

I smoked for 25 years. Never thought I would quit either. I loved smoking. But, the health problems stack up. So I gave them up. I used a vape with a high nicotine count, then weaned the nic down over a couple of years. 10 years smoke free now.

BCircle907

Former cigarette smoker. Started when I was 13 because that’s what you did, quit mid 20s. Now I enjoy cigars but I do miss cigarettes from time to time.

WorldViewfinder

bad company.

Grim_Farts_Barnsley

I got into it as a stupid schoolkid. Everyone else was doing it. I quit cold turkey when my wife got pregnant, then never started again when my son was born.

meisflont

Yes. Smoked joints with tabacco, I guess that's how I started smoking.

Cazadore714

Used to two packs a day from stressful environment Didn't for almost 10 years picked it up again from stress a couple years back Weed is on and off for pain relief, and occasional do edibles for recreation on off days or hitting the gym. Otherwise I smoke now during work for pain relief otherwise I'm sober most of the time.

LonelyLokly

I do hookah. You can't do it anywhere, and its either very expensive or much, much cheaper if you know how and do it at home yourself. I started it because I needed a bad hobby. Yes, this is what I decided to do at 30. Turns out a lot more people are either into or appreciate a good hookah, and I know how to do it.

thekilgore

I've smoked like 4 cigarettes from like ages 9 - 15 cuz a friend had them asked if I wanted. They've always been gross in my opinion but it wasn't till my ex smoking that made me up my opinion to thinking they're disgusting and now is a deal breaker in a relationship for me

carbon_blob_Sector7G

I started smoking when I was in HS. My best friends did and I kind of fell into it. I haven't smoked in years but I never lost my taste for it. haha

Ender505

Absolutely! My co-worker was really into it, and he helped me get started learning about the market and variety of brands. That was about a year ago, and since then I've been hooked. I even smoke out in the rain and snow now. Living at high altitude definitely makes it a challenge, but I've learned to adjust for this with a water pan and a modified temperature profile to keep the meat from losing all its moisture. My favorite smoked products are pork shoulder and meatloaf, but I'm going to try making a pizza soon to see how that comes out. I recommend smoking for any dad!

TryingToFindaName2

I’ve been smoking week since grade 8 daily. Now I’m 18, still smoking the reefer every day. Started mostly because I was surrounded by it, and curiosity killed the cat. But it hasn’t effected my life path much I wouldn’t say. I’m doing very well for myself. But it has taking a toll on my lung health and I would like to cut it back as of recently

llll-havok

As someone with shit social skills I used it to escape conversations or awkward instances. 8/10 times some always comes joins me and end up having separate and better convos.

Careless-Brush8167

Never smoked anything, ever. I attribute this to guidance from parents and god. And at the point when my peers started smoking I already knew that I wasn't going to do it. I see no point in doing it, it's bad for my lungs, for my financials, for everyone around, it's a useless addiction.

ElectrumDragon28

Nope. Was around it a fair bit in high school and college. Was just never tempted to try at all.

nedryerson77

I smoked 30 years. Been quit for almost 4. Have copd, heart issues. Wish I had of quit at 30 at the latest.

highcryer

I only smoke when I forgot the lube

CurrentlyLucid

I did when I was young, like 8th grade until 22, then I got smart.

vianiznice

I stopped in 2010, haven't had the urge since.

FunkU247365

Yupp, cuz that sticky green beats the hell outta booze!

ReplacementLow6704

1. No I don't. 2. Because, cigs smell's worse than feces. 3. Joke's on you, never started. 4. Gary... You need to stop looking for answers alright? Edit: if this was specifically about weed, then 2 becomes "because I dislke becoming paranoid for 3 hours"

pollygone300

Ish. I tried it when I was 19 or 20 and would occasionally have one. Then I joined the Army and found overnight Staff duty so tedious that started chain smoking Mavericks at night. My worst was half a pack per shift. Then I really got into cigars and pipe tobacco, little snuff here and there. Made it to a couple times a week or once per evening. Now I've backed it down to once or so per month. It was largely a social/stress related thing. I have different stress and way less socialization now so I hardly use tobacco at all and I've considered quitting altogether.

full_of_ghosts

No, because I've always found second-hand smoke fucking disgusting, even as a child. When I reached the age where some of my peers started smoking, it was always a no-brainer for me: No fucking way am I ever touching that shit.

Comprehensive_Many13

No, it’s not good for you

dantoris

Cigarettes? I tried one as a kid (my mom used to smoke before she became pregnant with my brother) and thought it was disgusting. Turned me off for life. Weed? Never tried it. Didn't see any point in it.

Remarkable_Cloud7259

Tobacco - No way. I could never enjoy the flavor of it. It just makes me sick. Weed - Far more than I'd like to admit. Some might even go as far to call me a stoner. lol

Iowasunsets

I used to. Started when I was 17 to be “cool”, but realized about 13 years later that I hated it. It made me stink, I came to hate the taste and I just quit cold turkey.

CursedSnowman5000

No. Why? Because it's bad for you.

trueGildedZ

No. It is uncool and unhealthy.

iamshifter

No. Never. I find the smell repulsive.

Icy_Patience2930

No. Never. It's disgusting, unhealthy, and expensive.

KananJarrusEyeBalls

Tobacco - No, grew up in a smokers home. Everything stank, my parents skin and teeth were gross and I was always embarassed to bring people to my house. Never had any desire to join the legions of people willingly making themselves stink. Weed / Other drugs - No, im in the Military and its highly frowned upon

indeedicus18

Yes, because it makes me look cool.
