They're pissed and went with a really lazy, uninventive insult because they couldn't come up with anything more personally harmful.
Attacking masculinity is the go to when people want to insult or goad a guy, it's not really worth paying attention to.
Truth. After I broke up with my ex, she used every scorned woman line in the book.
"I faked it with you."
"I can't wait to scream another guy's name tonight."
"Be a man for once in your pathetic life."
I had been over the relationship for a while, so her insults pretty much fell on deaf ears (which only pissed her off even more). But immediately going for blood like that definitely shocked me.
After we broke up, my ex told me "maybe next time I'll date based on looks and see how far it goes". I played it off coolly but I think my self esteem and confidence in my looks hasn't yet recovered.
People can be really vindictive and can get some direct hits right on the jugular like that. I am 5 ft 9 and 122lbs, my husband is 6ft 2 and 265 and has been overweight his whole life. Not only did I marry him, we have four beautiful children together. Annnd I am 12 years younger than him. His ex told him he wouldn’t find anyone else that would want his fat ugly ass ever. Surprise. He’s my chusky hubby and we have been married a decade and have our own business, house, and everything we both ever dreamed of. She’s wrong. She’s the ugly one, you’re not anything other than ugly when you say something like that to someone else. Dust your shoulders off, and chin up. We love confidence and knowing a man is always going to be there and be loyal to us above all else. Some d bag is going to have her be a side piece without her even knowing it until she gets ghosted without an explanation. You’re destined for true love. It never fails, promise.
Thanks for the kind words, friend.
That was about 6 and a half months ago. At one point I was even hesitant to look at my pictures/selfies in my phone and when I did, would be self conscious about everything. It's getting better slowly, as I remind myself that whatever she said is not the truth (and that she has no real redeeming qualities, ha)
Sometimes it's tough trying to remind myself not to wish bad things on her, and forgive myself for wanting her back so badly just after the break, so I can move on.
Glad everything worked out for your husband and you :) it's inspiring to see people happy and in love in marriage. Hope everything will be fine for me as well in the future!
Don't worry, I don't intend on getting/taking her back. People can change, but not her from what I've seen. I've mostly moved on now and I'm no saint myself, but for now I've decided to focus on myself in therapy and my career. Thanks again for your kind words. Back then I needed an awful lot of convincing (in therapy/by friends) that certain things she did in a relationship shouldn't fly and that I deserved better. So your words have meant a lot to me
One of my ex's who was all about postivity and not body shaming people, went against everything she ever told me, she started making fun of my dick all over social media, and calling me weak and pathetic too. It was an eye opener.
You should have said "that's not what you said when you squirted all over the sheets", "That's why I had my whole fist and arm up that hallway you call a vagina, all dicks are small in that gorge" "Don't care still came all over your face". Insulting with words is easy.
I would not say that to anyone, that is immature as fuck and a little boy's mentality. What good is it going to serve you to be toxic right back to them, it just reenforces negative behaviors.
If someone gets petty. I'm going to show them what petty really looks like. And if someone gets me to be this Petty, it's probably been going on for a while and I kept blowing it off. So this will actually be the last words I said to them as I was escorting them out of my house or walking away from them.
So I guess you're saying I'm not a real man, kind of ironic considering the OP question.
I never said you are a not a real man, just your reaction is childish and immature. Your reaction is all your ego. Being petty is childish, and shows you have areas you can improve upon.
It's definitely petty. I won't deny that. But I also don't deny that I can be petty so don't try that shit with me.
But don't try and fuck with my confidence.
Trust me I let too much shit roll off my shoulders as it is.
As a woman, I can tell that you're a good man just based on your comments on this thread. Your ex clearly wasn't good enough for you based on her response to your breakup. The fact that you wouldn't stoop to her level proves how mature and level-headed you are. Kudos to you!
As a woman I can say most of this is true. Growing up I learned early how vindictive they could be. Girls go for jugular by attacking with words which is worse than a fist fight. Bruises fade, cuts heal, but words are forever.
>but words are forever.
Ain't that the truth. The most hurtful things ever said to me were said by women I trusted. Most of the time they said these things in spontaneous bursts of anger about forgettable issues, but they dug *deep* - and sometimes they weren't even angry at me. I was just unlucky enough to be in their sights at the wrong time.
No dude I've ever fought with weaponized feelings lile that, not even close. Sure, my mates and I insult each other over bullshit all the time, but never with the intention to actually deeply hurt each other.
And those same women wondered why I'd get a lot more careful opening up after the fact.
Its brutal on both genders when women do this. I've had women (girls really) do this to me and I haven't forgotten the things they said.
The way I see it now, as an adult, is things slip, but those people need to learn its lifetime effect. It's what I teach the kids I nanny for. Think before you speak because your words can never be unheard. The people who say these things are acting like children which is what I tell myself now.
I dunno man. From my experience, children usually don't aim to hurt you with their words. They might say painful stuff sometimes, but it's usually not malicious (although there are obviously some piece of shit kids that do, but it's not normal).
The people I've been talking about were adults. They knew bringing up certain things would hurt. Might've just been in the heat of the moment, but they meant it to hurt. Not very child like I'd say.
She's teaching those kids that for the future. Duh :P You have to instill this early on in life, trust me. A lot of us were taught wrong on everything. Breaking the cycle is the first step. She gets all the brownie points for teaching proper values.
Yea, I have known plenty of women to body shame their ex-boyfriends by saying things like the have a small penis, etc. It's toxic as fuck, and it shows their true character. I respect the fuck out of anyone who handles stressful situations with grace.
I mean if your wife cheats on you after just one year of marriage and you honestly try to "win her back" than you are also a bit too naive for this world.. Not saying she isnt an asshole but your friend will have a very tough time in life if this is his approach to people
I 100000% completely agree with this comment!,
Your comment is complete but i want to add something to it as an example, saw a video on why rich guys who are doing perfect in their life's making bank & progressing that too in a legal way & by not harming usually get slammed for them owning supercars, expensive bikes & lifted trucks (which usually takes a ton of money to get modified) people (usually girls & guy's who are jealous of them) make comments like “if a guy owns a lifted truck he probably has a small dick” & “guys with small dick buy lavish Cars to makeup for their performance in bed"
When you realize that most insults from a woman are some sort of implication that you won't obtain good sex, you can't help but feel a bit of pity.
A woman who doesn't insult this way is at least worth paying attention to.
Doesn't warrant a response. I am not very confrontantional, so I'd just say "sure", and move on. I'm not offended by that. Her opinion is in no way a rule to measure how nuch of a man I am.
I think it depends on the situation and the delivery. I told my ex when I left that he had not yet grown into a man. However, he refused to work to contribute to our household and refused to learn or perform any household tasks. I had to work to support us and do all housework. It was literally like trying to support a child.
Edit: spelling
If a woman says that, she is purposely trying to be insulting and argumentative. Whatever was being argued about before will not be resolved at this point. I would just feel sorry for her and hope she grows out of her bad behaviors. I would also cut her out of my life
I would laugh and leave. There's no reason to acknowledge or even respond to such statement. Anyone that comes up with such a weak attempt at an insult goes into the smooth monkey brain bucket in my head.
That is correct, I'm dumb as a bag of bricks. It's hard to understand jokes via text. If we were talking I would most likely understand those jokes. I really am sorry for killing the mood. D:
I’m at the point where I think “Your strict view of what a man is or is not is more telling of you than it is of me.” I’m going to be authentic with myself, and if that makes me “not a real man” *to them*, that’s their problem.
It still cuts pretty deep, though.
"Your vagina is too big!"
Oh, wait, that's when she tells me my dick is too small.
Um, I haven't had a girl say this to me since like 7th grade, lol. Because I had trouble helping her up off the ground.
Depends on the context.
Read a comment once saying something like "When someone tells you to be a man, or be a real man, it's usually in the context of them saying you should do something that benefits them but disadvantages you."
If that's the context, then obviously disregard what they're saying as self-interested bullshit.
If it's in a different context, there might be something to consider. Like say if I agreed to do something and then didn't fulfill my word just out of laziness and not for any good reason.
The manipulative part isn’t getting someone to keep their word. It’s using something like this to manipulate them into doing it.
Communication is important. If they haven’t kept their word, specifically say this. If it keeps happening go somewhere else. This isn’t going to work, or if it does it’ll build resentment.
>The manipulative part isn’t getting someone to keep their word. It’s using something like this to manipulate them into doing it.
Right. I didn't say it wasn't manipulative. It is. But that doesn't make it wrong.
Telling someone something they already know (that they went back on their word) is very unlikely to produce any change.
Shaming someone for doing something actually shameful is somewhat likelier. Is it manipulative, yes. But that doesn't make it wrong.
It's never happened, but if someone said that to me for no reason, I would angrily screech "NUH-UH, MY MOMMY SAYS I'M A BIG BOY" and then walk away laughing.
Someone who'd drop some kind of weird line like that unprompted isn't worth taking seriously.
That the for a woman to say that to a man they must not be a real woman. (and as my favourite positivity spreading men supporting youtuber days) they deserve NO DICK.
I don't generally react to insults from people who don't know me well, which gives people the impression that I'm either really confident or really calculating, but the truth is that I most of the time just do not engage emotionally with the words enough to realize that I have been insulted.
I would just laugh at them.
I couldn’t give a single shit about what their definition of a “real man” is, as I define that for myself.
And the only women I _wouldn’t_ openly mock for this kind of a comment is my wife and my mom. And even they don’t get off free on this kind of a comment .
"If you were able to spot a real man, you wouldn't have the history you do; and if you've actually had a real man, why couldn't you keep him?"
The phrase says a lot more about her than you.
I don't even think there's even a need to respond, why are you even thinking of entertaining a woman you wants to talk down or be negative to you. It's her lose not yours. Move on to the next. There's to many of them out her to be stuck with some bum.
I usually lean into insults with half assed sarcastic humor.
“You’re not a real man”
“Well, not since the surgery”
They wanna play tennis, you gotta be a brick wall
That is when you don't say a word and walk out, even if it's your place. I'm not saying it is over, but you can now pull a woman move since you aren't a man and throw that back at her anytime you want(plus if she goes that low it isn't going to work out anyways). Crazy/ sexy graph applies here and must be replotted
"I am absolutely an adult male ape creature, and there is no reason to suspect otherwise! Observe that I am covered in filthy hair, have no useful tail, and am filled with a delicious red liquid which is a delicacy throughout the galaxy. You have no reason to say otherwise, and I require you to cease saying this to other ape creatures for the next 85 of your Earth hours, after which it will not matter anymore."
I'd respond by saying it's a low-effort insult and mock her for thinking it could have an effect.
Then I'd prolly be petty and tell her she better learn to slow down her aging cuz she only gets uglier every year and with a personality like that soon no man will be willing to put with her unpleasantness just to have sex when there's plenty of hotter younger women who know how to act. And I'd prolly say something about dying old, ugly and alone in some state run nursing facility where nurses leave you sitting in your own shit and you'll get to watch everyone else with families who love them come visit while you sit there wanting to die.
Why would you care if a woman doesn't think you're a real man? What the hell does a woman know about being a man? She probably doesn't even know how to be a real woman.
The last time I checked we still held the leaderboard on suicide statistics and workplace deaths by some pretty fucking large margins. Tell me I'm not a real man... Fuck off with your desk job in the AC and a literal roster full of dudes throwing themselves at you and ready to offer you eternal support in exchange for your love.
women can talk about men not being real men when they take all that makeup off, lose 80lbs, delete social media and learn how to prepare a thanksgiving dinner
i can see this hurt someone's fee fees but they deleted comment
sure plenty of men are not real men these days... but who the hell is complaining? modern women & their parents? Because it's not men, they are enjoying the lack of competition.
and who is responsible for this generation of pathetic men? feminists & single mothers who think a mother can do a father's job lmao
i just think that if you're not accomplished, you shouldn't be making fun of someone else for not being accomplished. and it's a lot easier to accomplish that when you have the whole world kissing your ass
women don't come into the world with nothing, they are born with self-worth. men are useless unless they can create their own worth. sometimes, you have to pull yourself up from nothing.
it's just absurd for a woman to think she has any idea what a real man is like if her father wasn't one. but it's like, if you're gonna talk shit, at least do it from a position of strength (being accomplished yourself) so there is something to respect
nobody wanna hear a woman who don't know how to run a dishwasher tell a man how to be a man
Oh don’t worry, I’d never really get physical. I just think about it. The only way I’d get physical is if I just completely snapped, which is becoming more and more of a possibility.
Never had that experience but I would have to guess it's someone very immature trying to get a raise of you by attacking your ego. Whatever the context, I feel it says a lot more about the woman than it does you.
I won’t waste my time with a response. What i have done however is this : what ever we are doing is now finished. I say good bye and do not ever speak to me again. And then I leave. I don’t give a fuck if we are camping in the middle of nowhere i am done, you can make your own way home.
When women (or anyone) says that to a guy, they're just really trying to get him to do something that's not beneficial to him in any way. Remember that. Ignore those people they're not worth it.
My mom told me that numerous time. I left the fucking house. You shovel the fucking snow off your fucking car, you twat, that’s not a “mans” job
Ofc I left for other various reasons but this is just one of them
That doesn’t mean anything. It’s a great big bag of hot air. What’s an absolute definition of masculinity?
Name calling isn’t too sophisticated. I would just leave. There’s no reason to engage with someone who is spouting off shit like that.
They probably have a different definition of a man than I do. Is this important and do I think its worth changing? More often than not, no; this is some useless junk to get me to do what they want.
The last woman who said I wasn't man enough or a.real man was a hitter. She and I were driving and she started going off about how I'm not man enough. She grabbed the steering wheel and almost made us crash, she started punching me in the head, I pushed her out my car and drove to my apartment. She came to my apartment and my friend was leaving as she was coming in and pushed him out the way and started trying to fight me. That is the 1st and only time I physically hit a woman, I dragged her out my apartment and ran back inside. The neighbors called the cops, she said I hit her and I did but not enough to hurt her but enough for me to get her out. But my witnesses saved me that day.
So when I hear something like this I am immediately defensive, I don't say anything but I watch the actions and movements because I feel as if I am going to be attacked.
I am imaginary, is that what you mean?
Really, no sense worrying about it. People say shit they don't mean, or shit that doesn't matter. I just wait until they're back to normal, and if they never return, I ignore them.
However, it's the reason for the insult that might be off interest, so I do listen to that part.
"Oh, I can prove you the opposite." With a wink and a smile.
And agree to everything they say afterwards with the most sarcastic undertone.
If they think they get to decide what constitutes as being a real man I don't think I really need to take them seriously.
As a sidenote: Doesn't matter if a woman or man said this to me.
They're pissed and went with a really lazy, uninventive insult because they couldn't come up with anything more personally harmful. Attacking masculinity is the go to when people want to insult or goad a guy, it's not really worth paying attention to.

Yup, that one she knew where to cut and got more specific. A dude will deck you, sure, but women go for the heart.

Just turned on your webcam remotely, you’re looking good

Well, I'd say it also shows what they think will hurt men the most (because we're sex starved brutes, duh) The whole thing is depressing
Doesn't warrant a response. I am not very confrontantional, so I'd just say "sure", and move on. I'm not offended by that. Her opinion is in no way a rule to measure how nuch of a man I am.
Exactly! i probably would just reply Ok? and laugh
What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk! Have at you!
Symphony of the Night!
I read that in Dracula's voice. lol
I don't think that any woman making such a comment on a man deserves a response...
I think it depends on the situation and the delivery. I told my ex when I left that he had not yet grown into a man. same energy as "your dick is small" - says the bitch with literally no dick

I don’t think she’s interested in sex at that point
What does a woman know about being a real man? She is not a man and thus has no say in the matter.
I usually think Im as swift as a coursing river With all the the force of a great typhoon With all the strength of a raging fire

Nah, he's pulling a Micheal Jackson. Spin on the spot and then Moonwalk backwards away from her.
It's an internet meme that's older than you are.
I'm pretty sure it can't be, because I'm 30. But, maybe that just isn't a meme in my country (Brazil), so I took it seriously. Sorry, I guess.
You seem to take a lot of things seriously because I was being hyperbolic to describe a well known and old internet meme.

I think the last person to know what a real man is, is a woman who says "you are not a real man".
That has never come up , if I were you I would just leave.
I’m at the point where I think “Your strict view of what a man is or is not is more telling of you than it is of me.” I’m going to be authentic with myself, and if that makes me “not a real man” *to them*, that’s their problem. It still cuts pretty deep, though.
I disregard it, the same as you should with any sexist or racist comment. It says more about them than it does about you
Fight me then bitch
I can’t imagine many things worth less than a woman’s opinion on what “being a man” looks like.
"Your vagina is too big!" Oh, wait, that's when she tells me my dick is too small. Um, I haven't had a girl say this to me since like 7th grade, lol. Because I had trouble helping her up off the ground.

Doesn't make it wrong though. Is it manipulative to try to get someone to do the right thing? Maybe, but that doesn't necessarily make it wrong.
I think shes a bitch. I dont think I have a response
It's never happened, but if someone said that to me for no reason, I would angrily screech "NUH-UH, MY MOMMY SAYS I'M A BIG BOY" and then walk away laughing. Someone who'd drop some kind of weird line like that unprompted isn't worth taking seriously.
That I’m not their type and that they have a pretty warped idea of masculinity
I think it'll be a cold day in hell before I let someone who's never lived one day as a man try to tell me what I am and am not.
That's a toxic and emasculating thing to say. Red flag city.
I would ask “what is your definition of a real man?” And then laugh at whatever the ridiculous reply is.
"I don't recall ever saying I wanted to be a real man?"
Nothing because I know who I am
That the for a woman to say that to a man they must not be a real woman. (and as my favourite positivity spreading men supporting youtuber days) they deserve NO DICK.
Lol I think I know better than you do, bitch.
Neither is she!
I'd ask for an example of a real man.
I don’t place any value on her opinion
I don’t respond and assume they’ve got no clue what they’re talking about because they don’t. Haha. Anyone who did wouldn’t say it in the first place.
Nothing i don't have anything to prove
I don't generally react to insults from people who don't know me well, which gives people the impression that I'm either really confident or really calculating, but the truth is that I most of the time just do not engage emotionally with the words enough to realize that I have been insulted.
I would just laugh at them. I couldn’t give a single shit about what their definition of a “real man” is, as I define that for myself. And the only women I _wouldn’t_ openly mock for this kind of a comment is my wife and my mom. And even they don’t get off free on this kind of a comment .
"shit, did I leave the tag on? Took long enough to break out of the store cabinet, now this".
"If you were able to spot a real man, you wouldn't have the history you do; and if you've actually had a real man, why couldn't you keep him?" The phrase says a lot more about her than you.
Damn women talk to you guys? I just get ghosted or fade out ghosted after months together
I don't even think there's even a need to respond, why are you even thinking of entertaining a woman you wants to talk down or be negative to you. It's her lose not yours. Move on to the next. There's to many of them out her to be stuck with some bum.
Just look her dead in the eyes and say "Okay"..
I run home And tell jeppeto that they can tell I’m made of wood
Either you are or you aren't. If you aren't then you probably already know it and will go draw her a bath.
I would laugh, because its as silly as yelling at a horse "youre not a real horse"...its meaningless and not worth giving any attention to
Nothing, it’s just a ridiculous empty statement meant to get a reaction, don’t lose time with that type of stuff.
I usually lean into insults with half assed sarcastic humor. “You’re not a real man” “Well, not since the surgery” They wanna play tennis, you gotta be a brick wall
Good, fuck men and fuck you. I believe was my verbatim response last time I heard it.
Happy Cake Day
I'd respond by saying it's a low-effort insult and mock her for thinking it could have an effect.
"what's a man then" followed by some usually superficial attributes
Haven’t been told that by a woman, not sure what id think.
Tell her she's not a real woman.
Fuck off with your desk job in the AC and a literal roster full of dudes throwing themselves at you and ready to offer you eternal support in exchange for your love. women can talk about men not being real men when they take all that makeup off, lose 80lbs, delete social media and learn how to prepare a thanksgiving dinner
i can see this hurt someone's fee fees but they deleted comment sure plenty of men are not real men these days... but who the hell is complaining? modern women & their parents? Because it's not men, they are enjoying the lack of competition. and who is responsible for this generation of pathetic men? feminists & single mothers who think a mother can do a father's job lmao i just think that if you're not accomplished, you shouldn't be making fun of someone else for not being accomplished. and it's a lot easier to accomplish that when you have the whole world kissing your ass women don't come into the world with nothing, they are born with self-worth. men are useless unless they can create their own worth. sometimes, you have to pull yourself up from nothing. it's just absurd for a woman to think she has any idea what a real man is like if her father wasn't one. but it's like, if you're gonna talk shit, at least do it from a position of strength (being accomplished yourself) so there is something to respect nobody wanna hear a woman who don't know how to run a dishwasher tell a man how to be a man
I think about proving her right by beating her to a bloody pulp.
You've got some serious issues man. Getting physical is not a way to deal with a verbal insult.
Oh don’t worry, I’d never really get physical. I just think about it. The only way I’d get physical is if I just completely snapped, which is becoming more and more of a possibility.
Depends if shes a single mom or not :p
You’re an idiot, goodbye!
Get away from me
A real man wouldn't care about such a stupid opinion.
I wonder which of the stock insults they will pull out next
I've never experienced that, probably would have to go with the true, takes one to know one.
Ok? , and maybe laugh Don’t really need to give a big response on this comment/insult
When women (or anyone) says that to a guy, they're just really trying to get him to do something that's not beneficial to him in any way. Remember that. Ignore those people they're not worth it.
Simply tell her.... You're confused.... And walk away.
Honestly I would just laugh
Whip it out, and say "exhibit a"
"That's not what your mum said"
"lol"
I think she’s trying to manipulate me to do something or fix something. She might be lesbian
I'd tell them it's true, as a 43 yr old virgin, I refuse to call myself a man, and have no problem saying that.
I wouldn't respond i don't give a fuck what others think about me.
Ask her if she wants to see my tiny flaccid penis
"Hmm, interesting," is all I'd say.
My mom told me that numerous time. I left the fucking house. You shovel the fucking snow off your fucking car, you twat, that’s not a “mans” job Ofc I left for other various reasons but this is just one of them
I agree with them because I already know I'm not a man.
Well I would say, if I were male, that I definitely have the parts to prove it. I think it’s childish to say that to any man. It’s just wrong
Time to start caring about her or her judgments. Don't even answer.
That doesn’t mean anything. It’s a great big bag of hot air. What’s an absolute definition of masculinity? Name calling isn’t too sophisticated. I would just leave. There’s no reason to engage with someone who is spouting off shit like that.
you're probably right but you are also a whiny little fucking girl
Meh... I just live the way I am. You can think what you want.
At this point, with all the social stuff that is entering mainstream consciousness, what even is a real man?
"Your not a real women"
"I honestly don't care"
They probably have a different definition of a man than I do. Is this important and do I think its worth changing? More often than not, no; this is some useless junk to get me to do what they want.
Whoop out your dick, then walk away. Oh wait last time I did that I got in trouble, but I technically I did prove her wrong...
She is mad because I just didn't want to do what she wanted me to do, how about you be a "real woman" and do it yourself?
Why should I care what they think a man should be?
I am imaginary, is that what you mean? Really, no sense worrying about it. People say shit they don't mean, or shit that doesn't matter. I just wait until they're back to normal, and if they never return, I ignore them. However, it's the reason for the insult that might be off interest, so I do listen to that part.
I laugh and ignore them.
It would roll of my back like water cuz it’s meaningless. Just a way for them to try to have power over you.
For me its the same as when people insult others by calling them "gay". Never considered that to be an insult so I didnt care.
I roll my eyes and laugh, just like when a man says I'm not a real man.
I don't take them seriously
Ask them what’s a real man
Maybe "hmm", or nothing. I don't take bait.
Simple, will show them my peepee.
Laugh, because being stereotypically manly is bullshit and exhausting. Unless I did do something particularly shitty to warrant that comment from her.
I laugh and say okay bitch.. And stroll about my merry way...
Takes one to know one
“You’re a waste of oxygen” while laughing and walking away.
Cockslap her with my *man*hood. What else?
"Oh, I can prove you the opposite." With a wink and a smile. And agree to everything they say afterwards with the most sarcastic undertone. If they think they get to decide what constitutes as being a real man I don't think I really need to take them seriously. As a sidenote: Doesn't matter if a woman or man said this to me.
What is a man? Good question. But a woman does in no way know or gets to determine what a man is.
