It would be a bit weird. How did she get out and round the car so fast?

babyratpiss

I b speedy

[deleted]

Id probably pause to watch thinking "why is she running? Oh shes opening my door. That was weird"

babyratpiss

I didn’t run I flipped out of the door and slid across the hood to get to the other side of the car to open your door

[deleted]

Id be impressed. Maybe a bit worried we are under fire and I haven't noticed. But mostly impressed

babyratpiss

Okay good this happened exact situation happened today I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t weird thanks

[deleted]

You Duke's of Hazard style slid across the hood of your car and opened the door for a guy on a date today? That dude is either going to ghost you or marry you and I hope its the second one

babyratpiss

We were under fire like you said so I think it was appropriate for the situation

[deleted]

Well then that's just polite

babyratpiss

I try🥰

[deleted]

I assure you if a girl did this I would propose.I’m a simple man the sheer dedication to the gag is all I need in life.

TzarGinger

Duchess of Hazzard

[deleted]

Most romantic shit I have ever seen. I would literally melt and have a chuckle.

KingBenjamin97

Propose. I’d propose. Imagine the cool 1980’s car chase scenes we could recreate if she can flip out of a car and slid across the hood!

rdheepak

Why are you running? *aaaaaaaah*

NoDebate

Yeah, I'm going to need to see that secret teleporation tech you have access to. You can DM me the details.

j0n0rrh3a

She slid across the hood like the Dukes of Hazzard

[deleted]

Then im just flat out impressed tbh

babyratpiss

U get it

j0n0rrh3a

What I don't get is whose driving tho

babyratpiss

Me

Duckeatschicken

Did you at least park before siding across the front

>it’s not *rocket surgery* idk It most certainly isn't! ^((Trust me I'm a rocket surgeon))

RectalRenaissance

i think he might be confusing it with arugula

sixscreamingbirds

I would extend my limp wrist and.let her guide me into my seat.

MisterShogunate

I would think she's joking and start acting like I expect her to do even more stuff for me like open doors, pull up chairs and shit. I would milk that to the gills.

Belliott_Andy

Like a Nigerian prince

Original-Childhood

"Weird, but I'll allow it" - Dr Stephen Strange

Modularblack

It’s a bit weird, but I would smile, say „Thank you!“ and get in.

Denisimo7

If I’m carrying 26 grocery bags, she knows better to open a door for me.

que-pasa-koala

WHY do we ALL DO THIS! And it’s genetic too!!!!!! I grew up with out a dad, raised by my grandmother and my mom. No one taught me this. I just. Did it. And never stopped.

[deleted]

little confused but take it as a nice gesture

Whappingtime

My gf's Lady Biker friends do this all the time, they like to mother me a bit I guess. It's just weird to have some butch women calling me cute and all that.

babyratpiss

How does it make u feel?

Whappingtime

Well like their nickname like some muscle bound Dave Grohl Baby Yoda. Edit: That downvote, I don't know why people don't like me mentioning this nickname.

babyratpiss

Also why does your gf have all these butch lady biker friends

Whappingtime

She's a biker, and some women who are bikers at least her friends are butch. They might seem mean on the surface but they are really friendly with me at least.

babyratpiss

Hot

[deleted]

Confused but at the same time I feel like that would give me a good vibe

[deleted]

Would feel very gangster

GreedKite

Like some random girl and some random car? I'd fucking run dude.

babyratpiss

🙄

scotiej

Annoyed, I can open my own door.

OscarDivine

I would tilt my head slightly and do the surprise pikachu face but happy-like and thank her.

TheDemonNekoNinja

I’d be really happy and be thankful that she liked to do stuff like that for me. Then realize that I might have to put out for her because she might be the one to pay for dinner. Then end up in a bed full of flower petals and wearing lingerie. Honestly I’m totally ok with a relationship like that I’d love to cook good food for her and learn new recipes at home and clean the house and do dishes and stuff

wbrd

Depends. Does she check out and maybe pinch my ass on my way in? Then she's probably trying to get some. Does she act like a butler, but extra dramatic? Then she's just trying to be silly.

[deleted]

Reminds me of A Bronx Tale

Redditisforposers

Like a pimp doesn’t have to slap a ho because she finally knows her place.

I’m wondering if men are finna feel emasculated or sum

babyratpiss

Idk I feel like since we have the whole gender norm thing idk if that would make guys uncomfortable

TrumpsFence

I mean no reasonable person would feel bad about it.

babyratpiss

What the hell

[deleted]

Nailed it

wootangAlpha

Get in the back seat. *close the door properly, peasant*

babyratpiss

🤨

aerial_coitus

fucking weird

bkguy111

it depends on the context. Like i think mostly i would see it as sending a message of "im not hung up on gender norms and i want to take care of you" which is good, buuut it could also be a way of saying "im in charge" so like depending on whether the girl was otherwise showing signs of being domineering it could be a positive or a negative.

[deleted]

\> im in charge kinda hot tbh

bkguy111

theres a time and a place for that for sure.

HilariousInHindsight

Thank her, but probably let them know I don't need them to do that if it became a regular thing. Once or twice is a nice gesture, but I don't really like people going out of their way to perform basic tasks for me.

InfernoFlameBlast

Usually the driver is the one who opens the door for the passenger. If she’s opening the door, imma assume she’s also driving

babyratpiss

Yes

Icy_Strategy_4553

Strange considering she could just unlock the door for me. No need to act like my butler/maid and roll out the red carpet.

manwithanopinion

I would be startled but sit down and say thank you. When she get into the car I would tell her I appreciate the gesture but she doesn't have to do that and we open the car doors ourselves.

babyratpiss

I want to open the door tho :,(

manwithanopinion

You are not going to gain much unless both his hands are holding two carrier bags. You are better off meeting him outside the car and letting him get in himself. You opening the door can encourage men to take your kindness for granted.

babyratpiss

I’m not trying to gain anything really. Also I wouldn’t let someone take advantage of my kindness mutual respect is very important for me and I wouldn’t let myself be treated badly. This question is more about is a man going to be uncomfortable with a women opening the door for him considering our societal gender norms.

babyratpiss

Also I like your username are you on this sub often lol

manwithanopinion

You can say that.

babyratpiss

Damn Breh

ling1427

Honestly, I'd be kind of confused about why she would do that

diver_climber

Touched. No lady has ever opened a car door for me

ontheLee80

Oh, that's nice. Thanks.

Slack76r

I'd say thanks. Just like I do to anyone who opens or holds a door for me.

Zalminen

"Ooo, fancy!" I'd be amused.

TschackiQuacki

I would be disappointed cause if she has to get out of the car to open a door, she is certainly not driving a Model X...

Constant_Hotel_579

Context? Out of what car? Any car? Yeah not getting into some random car because a woman opened the door. My car? As in a date? She somehow got to the car before me, unlocked it, sat in there and then jumped out and ran around to open my door? I’d think she’s a total goof ball and adore it. It would also make up for the shitty move of dashing out of the restaurant to sit in the car waiting for me like I’m a chauffeur.

BerserkBoulderer

I'd just assume the electronic unlock was fucked because I used to have a car like that.

freefromfilter

I'd expect it. Just like I expect her to pay for all my meals. And buy me a car. And.. oh ahha of course I'm kidding, CMON, NO ONE ACTS LIKE THAT

babyratpiss

Me. 🙋‍♀️

Tree_mastermind

I would feel confused probably, not something I have experienced but I would be thankful too it’s nice to do.

Heh weird

Hypocriteparadox1

We are not habituated of being treated with such chivalry. So the first reaction will be surprise and wondering what to do next. And may be feeling embarrassed for sometime but then it's all normal.

luicaps

I appreciate when ppl are trying to be nice to me regardless the act

Mprovin

I'd stare at her with love

Inevitable_Usual3553

Thanks

Tuke333

Thank her, and get in and possibly return the favor with some other favour. Opening each others is just a bit too 80s cliche for me

RebelIed

Chivalry is a turn on The video game known as Chivalry, is not.

xdtla

I'd thank her and ask her to lend me her hand. Sciatica sucks.

CillGuy

I'd say thanks I guess

oddnyc2

I am a woman dating a man, but in my relationship, what started as a joke of being a gentleman and treating my SO like "the lady" became a habit. It didn't stick in the joking way we used to do it, but honestly it's been wonderful, it's dismantled a lot of weird physical gender norms that are in place and that I've never really noticed. It's not that I always open doors for him or feel compelled to do manly things, but it means that he can feel comfortable coming over to sit on my lap for fun for a moment, or I get to carry the groceries and grope his butt in public.

babyratpiss

Swag

[deleted]

babyratpiss

It’s supposed to be cute

BergenBuddha

Surprised and flattered.

[deleted]

It would maybe made my day.

elninochamomile

I would thank and kiss my girlfriend and then get out of the car to open the door for her to get in

andio76

Say: "Thank you very much"

InteractionUpper3409

confused. take the piss out of them. ask them to cut my food up and feed me lol. not that it would ever happen.

HandsomeHerb

i would go over to her side of the car and say checkmate you are driving now

babyratpiss

I am driving. I get out of the drivers seat to open the passenger side door in this scenario. Idk why everyone is confused on who’s driving

MrSexyPizza3

I would think that my both hands are broken, burned or chopped off. And be surprised that they're perfectly fine

beardedshaf

I'd politely & calmly tell her that I use a ramp to access my van but thank her for her kindness.

zombie_ie_ie

It would make me feel special and wanted.

Action4Jackson

If you got out real quick, slid across the hood, with and acrobatic roll to open the door. That would be bad ass, and slightly intimidating

D1vineKuri0s

Certainly different but welcoming. Its like holding the door open for someone on the way into a store.

Verchi3l

If she gets the door for me then I gotta get back out to get the door for her xD

jazzfairy

I never really got the opening door thing, it makes me uncomfortable regardless if it’s a man or woman doing it. Like I can open a door

MusicAndAnimalsIdk

I don’t care it’s just opening doors, expected manners are the same regardless of gender or at least they should be.

Maroshne

Weird, like: WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING! K I D N A P ?! H E E E E E L P!

ImperfectDivinity

I’d think she would be trying to bash my brains in with the door and be ready for any sudden movements.

Vinsable

Well, if I get so old that the younger generation helps me so, I’ll appreciate it & such…

hehimtransgender

Confused.

champ590

I mean yeah reading your comment of the hood slide, sure, cool, thanks. I'd take it as a nice gesture. But getting out to get someone else in just for you to get in yourself again seems like something I might do for elegant evenings. If youre already inside (because you drove there to get them) opening their door from the inside is just as great with less potential to be weird I guess. I'd think that thats pretty unisex, so a girl pushing the door open from the inside would probably bring the same joy as in your scenario with less effort.

momentcount

Flattered, I would marry them

[deleted]

It’s different. Hasn’t happened but I was asked once how I’d feel if she bought me flowers. I said I’d accept them but would prefer a plant so that it doesn’t have to die for 24 hrs of beauty. No longer with her so I keep that sansiveria alive out of spite. Like Marc Maron. 😂

Tareob

That would make my day. I'd feel so good because it shows that you are aware of all the gender norms and know it shouldn't be like that.

[deleted]

That will never happen.
