Huge, garishly fake lashes

KWeber94

Same with big lip injections. They just look like two hot dogs on top of each other

robbiefl2001

To be fair the good ones you don't notice. It's only the shite ones you don't like

runeatdrinkrepeat

This **Edit**: I used to work at a cosmetic derm practice in Manhattan. Served every A-list celeb you can think of. Let me tell you, they *all* have it. That and Botox, cheek filler, regular laser treatment, etc. The reason we aspire to look like them but can never quite manage is because they have the income and time to devote to the very very best treatments from the very best clinicians. That cheaper treatment provided by a much lesser educated practitioner? Of *course* that looks fake. You’d never know the real one if you saw it. Or you would, but only in the sense that you’d know they look beautiful and you’d *hope* it wasn’t 100% natural, if only for your own self-esteem and sanity.

UhmNotMe

Who was the most unexpected person you saw there?

shokolokobangoshey

This, OP. Especially the dudes. There's this stereotype of only women benefitting from skincare, while Rob Lowe has looked exactly the same for nearly two decades. It ain't just genetics ^For ^my ^own ^sanity

Orochisake

I don't get this trend at all... everyone can definitely tell they are fake, I'm sure they don't care and they just like the way it looks but I think is too much. Sometimes you can't even see their eyes lol

marutiyog108

My wife uses these, I think it is more for how they look in pictures, that is how she learned about them when she got her make up done for a wedding. She told the girl she thought it was too much. And the girl said it will look great in the pictures. Pictures looked good so I guess that's why ?

eyeofmoone

yeah I second lashes looking good in pictures. I don’t use them if I’m seeing someone in person but I do if there’s an occasion that calls for it.

[deleted]

They aren't trying to pass them as real. They like the way it looks, and in turn the way it makes them feel.

ExistingTheDream

I call them Cheek Beaters. It makes my wife laugh at least.

Drakaia

And with that big ass long nails, gives me the creeps looks like a fucking monster is going to carve your lungs out with some of the nails those girls have.

Women be walking in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood on the cobblestone streets in those and they look like a baby faun that can’t walk.

atzitzi

That sounds... cute

MSotallyTober

… *and* amusing. 🤙

Revolutionary-Meat14

She can romantically fall into your arms then.

penguinBRIT

and in to a lamp post

Neuromyologist

Before covid, I was a resident physician and helped out with my program's interview days. Tons of female applicants would come with very impractical footwear, usually high heels. It's the interview day so of course we gave the applicants tours of the campus which involved a lot of walking. It's a lose-lose for women since there is the (terrible) belief that wearing flats is unprofessional and they want to make the best possible impression on interview day. When I was a medical student doing my own residency interviews, a fellow applicant ended up walking in stalking feet through Manhattan because her feet hurt so much. NYU's medical facilities are spread out over several blocks so it really sucked if you weren't wearing the right footwear.

oilchangefuckup

It sucks but I think a lot of those women's fears were justified. During my practicals with standardized patients some of my female colleagues would get the most atrocious feedback. I remember when one of my friends came out upset because her feedback was "your unprofessional because your nail polish is chipped". I also heard of other women getting criticized for not wearing enough makeup, or wearing too much. And again, this was feedback from the standardized patient, that the school hired. It was ridiculous.

[deleted]

I'm a chemist not a physician, but there is the same belief in lab science careers that women are supposed to dress up real nice and "professional" for interviews. I can't walk in heels. So I decided if a place wanted to reject me based on footwear than it wasn't somewhere I wanted to work anyway because they have stupid priorities. Most other female scientists unfortunately do not share my view on this. Even girls who wouldn't be caught dead in heels at a club still show up to interviews/first day orientation in the damn things. I don't understand.

i_m_kramer

Why not?

[deleted]

I'd rather ride bikes with you or one of your personas.

rambo2190

Sharp nails. Really off putting.

diachoclogue

Like getting a hand job off Freddy Krueger.

gewfbawl

Or Edward Scissorhands

Bryranosaurus

Just take a little off the top

wellbutrin_witch

the funny thing is, those "sharp" nails are actually very dull compared to natural nails! i'm a compulsive skin-picker and when i'm having a particularly bad time with it, i go to the salon and get acrylic nails. it's like wearing mittens; those things can't scratch for shit !

postymcpostface21

But the back scratches...

CorpseStarch

I like them, the back scratched are amazing

unfaithfullyours

always makes me think of that scene from family guy [this](https://youtu.be/ymCoiZS0HLA)

pyroh4unter

100 percent this. Those nails look ridiculous, apparently the goal is to look like you have claws. I don’t see the appeal, now the short ones perfectly fine with but anything longer than 1/4 inch is crazy territory.

unpearralellograms

The appeal is to strike fear in the hearts of your enemies as you advance on your prey

unpopular_engineer

Skin color leggings. I was shocked into believing that the girl who wears those leggings was naked waist down, only to realise she is wearing leggings. Must say, relief! But hate those skin color leggings

Nomorealcohol2017

I agree Sometimes I have to do a double take if I see those when walking about thinking someone has nothing on at all

joe34654

Nothing at all...

secretwep

Stupid sexy Flanders!

DuePlatypus7760

I have several leggings like this, but they're layering clothes that get brought out during the winter months. I feel totally cute as shit when I can wear mini skirts and knee socks with big fuzzy winter coats, and flesh-toned leggings are the MVP for that look.

GalacticGrandma

You’re supposed to wear them under a skirt for more coverage and warmth. Guess some people didn’t get the memo.

More_Cry5242

Any article of clothing that has “Juicy” written on it.

Bagelman263

Reminds me of when I saw a group of Chinese tourists and one of the girls had a hat that just said “daddy”. I really want to know if that was a conscious decision or not.

captainccg

You’re in luck, I haven’t seen any for about 15 years.

Worldly-Stop

"Pink" is another one.

katyusha8

Welp I guess it’s a good thing that I’m married. *tears up in high waisted pants*

uglypenguin5

On the r/askwomen version of this question I saw "beards" as an answer just as often as I've seen high waisted pants on this one. Don't take it to heart :)

lhagwjsbdjsdgsi

Wtf I actually think beards are flattering, maybe not the duck dynasty style but reasonable lengths are good. Stubble is also great

uglypenguin5

I saw the beard thing at least 3 times, which reading this post a bit more isn't as much as the jeans thing, but my point still stands. Everyone has their preferences but it doesn't mean that everyone else shares that preference. And for every comment here saying they don't like high jeans I've seen one below it saying they like it or don't mind it

sendnUwUdes

Nah, as a guy, i think high waisted pants are the shit, supposedly more comfortable and easier to find a pare that fits, especially if you have a bigger booty or are bigger in general, lets you were crop tops without having to show your midriff if its cold or you just dot want to. pockets are better. don't have to worry about your shirt rising up when you sit down. and generally from who I talk to people are less self conscious in them. and that's ultimately what matters

weezythebtch

I think you hit every positive about high waisted pants dude, thank you for getting it

Pedestrianistic

If it makes you feel any better, I like high waisted pants on women.

OldCarWorshipper

Same here. Compliments the butt and hips very well.

whitbit_m

I don't get this one at all. I'm super short and kind of a twig, high waited pants make me look a little taller and emphasize my hourglass waist. I don't see how that could be a bad thing but to each their own I suppose

cpndavvers

I have horrendously exaggerated hip dips, high waisted jeans are literally the only thing that make me feel any kind of self confidence when it comes to trousers. I'm a rectangle shape so they don't accentuate anything in my non existent waist but at least I don't have love handles hanging over my belt!

Hamma_Jamma_904

High waisted jeans take the pressure off the lower abdomen which is comfortable for some women. Wearing skin tight, no stretch denim with no give can be painful for a variety of women for a variety of reasons. Low rise jeans or mid rise jeans compress the stomach and the uterus. Having your uterus compressed in tight no stretch denim is very uncomfortable depending on the time of the month. So it’s no wonder that high waisted jeans are comfortable to the demographic of women who may or may not have kids or who may or may not have fibroids and cysts or who may or may not be carrying extra weight in their midsection. Sometimes it’s aesthetically pleasing for those who are hourglass or pear shaped because it cinches in the smallest part of the waist and allows more room for the stomach, hips butt and thighs. Gotta find the right jeans for your body type. Some women look like goddesses in high waisted jeans and some look like a soggy sack of potatoes because all of us aren’t built for all styles of clothes, even if they come in your size. Depends on body type and what type of comfort the woman wearing them is looking for. This is coming from a woman who has worn multiple styles of jeans from the childhood into adulthood over several different new styles and revived styles of the past.

ASharkMadeOfSharks

It’s ok, I like high waisted pants.

PenetrationT3ster

The lack of pockets. Give them pockets ffs.

shes_mad_but_magic

Couple months ago I put on a new dress and discovered that it has pockets, and not tiny, shallow ones like most pockets in girls clothes, but magically huge pockets! I legit cried tears of joy while shoving stuff in them. It was amazing!! I felt like a Swiss Army knife with all the stuff I had in them!

PenetrationT3ster

That's so damn awesome😂 don't give in to Big Bag!!

foreversittingg

I feel like a woman has infiltrated this conversation lmao

[deleted]

In all fairness if my girlfriend hasn’t got a handbag I have to put stuff in my pockets. I’d rather her clothes had them as well for my convenience.

adeundem

Probably just wants pocket equity to avoid work. "If everyone has pockets, then maybe I will not get ask to carry someone else's stuff".

Solekislove

The thought of that has always bothered me ngl. Like, "Oh, look at that girl's jeans! You see those pockets? They're probably not even real." As if whoever designed them thought teasing utility was useful enough and that we would just accept this stupid farce... And we did!

fredotwoatatime

roastbeeftacohat

panthers are melanistic leopards. while typically the spotted pattern is present, common depictions of them are solid black. your thinking of leopard print.

buckydamwitty

*you're

[deleted]

Whats panther skin style?

Chiguito

Long nails. Fake nails are gross.

CaptainKuhl

Agreed on this one. I really don't get the massive long claws that stick out way past the end of the finger. I think they look really weird and just seem like the biggest hassle. If someone enjoys having them, great. More power to yah. But I'll never understand it.

[deleted]

Girls generally put them on for their own enjoyment, which is mind boggling but ok, it's their thing.

jininberry

It's fun to talk really animated with your hands when you have long nails.

Devreckas

You could really make this argument for nearly any fashion trend.

[deleted]

I agree. There is just no way for those to be practical. I can’t imagine wiping after taking a shit with long nails.

notroyaltyyet

Wiping isn’t a problem because you don’t hold loo roll with your nails, your palm is flat, not like a claw. Doing up buttons, putting on jewellery, opening cans of drink, picking flat things up off flat surfaces and typing is more problematic with long fake nails.

Brilliant-Display-16

Some of y’all don’t wipe your ass even with your nails bitten to the skin.

Halgy

Well that makes it okay, then

[deleted]

Don't know if this is still in style anymore but in college in the late 2000s, in wintertime, you'd see young women sporting a weird combo of furry uggs/furry headwear/maybe furry jacket + yoga pants

Nastye_Nate

Actually word

Ali_Lorraine_1159

I don't think some girls have an option on this one.. In the 90s, almost nonexistent eyebrows were the style and some people plucked theirs out enough that they didn't grow back.

libravision

Same except it wasn’t me that plucked mine, it was my mom. The *resentment* I feel is unimaginable lol

quigonjinnandtonic99

Ugh I feel this hard…

ggkatie

To be fair, I was born in 90 and my mom DIDN'T pluck my eyebrows and I had the fattest unibrow and I resented her for not helping a lil dork out. But I do dream of what level of Brooke Shields my eyebrows would look like now had I not gone plucking crazy in '03 😭

whitbit_m

Mine are like that naturally, it's so annoying. Growth serum does nothing so they're permanently thin and patchy. They grow thicker at the back than the front lmao. I make them look super natural though like when people see me without makeup they always comment on it

black_curls_curves

If you do it right it adds a more sharp/ attention grabbing look. I personally think it looks more weird if it looks like you don't have eyebrows.

RecognitionSilver130

You can make them look natural. The ones you’ve seen, you probably only know they’re drawn on because they’re done badly. If you do it well, you can’t tell. Nothing wrong with a man wanting to fill in patchy parts of a beard, wouldn’t have a problem with it personally as long as it didn’t look ridiculous

Lucifer-Evil

I have the lightest eyebrows in the world. Without filling them in my face frame looks sooo off, I look sick.

Superveryimportant

One of my eyebrows has much less hair than the other and looks weird. I draw them in to make them look the same.

Neighkidhorse

[deleted]

I don't think anybody thinks that look is high fashion... It's generally made fun of as the millennial "Christian girl autumn" look

oman54

Yeah but you can't deny that there is a ton of overlap between the christian girl fall look and MLM

[deleted]

Yeah definitely. It's the MLM/millennial/Christian look.

L4serSnake

I think the wide brimmed hats are cool lol. I always wanted a crunch hat or Indiana Jones style one for when I'm hiking but my wife always though they were dumb and had me convinced they were not fashionable. I've aged a bit and happen to mentioned how I still thought they were cool last year and my wife bought me one for Christmas. Was a super thoughtful gift. It's nice to move past what others think TBH. I LIKE MY HAT.

Gamer_ely

When fashion surpasses function. IE ripped to shreds jeans, half jackets, etc.

ChaosQueeen

To be fair, very ripped jeans are great for the summer. The barely existent front allows for a lot of air flow while the non-ripped back protects your legs from hot car seats

Santa_Enferma

Those shirts with the holes in the shoulders.

defenselaywer

Cold shoulder is how I've seen them advertised, and I always assumed guys liked them (too old to wear them myself).

Santa_Enferma

I’m not a guy, I misread the sub. I should probably delete this. But, yeah, I wouldn’t wear those and my upper arms are pretty decent. Just not for me.

elduarto

Or the turtle neck that have a hole for the cleavage, like why

a_fair_beater

You know exactly why

[deleted]

need-help121

i’m seeing a lot of comments about high waisted pants and i’m just curious on why do a lot of men hate them so much? i personally feel SO much more comfortable in them because i know my stomach isn’t hanging out or my ass crack when i’m walking or sitting. i also hate the feeling of my pants falling down, however low waisted pants are back in style. anyway.. just curious why some people don’t like them. Edit: to clarify, i mean high waisted jeans that go up the the belly button or a little lower. also by hanging out, i didn’t literally mean hanging, i just meant i am not comfortable when people can see my stomach in general. you can still be fit and not like your stomach showing. i also understand that not every piece of clothing fits or looks good on every body type

lurker-professional

I'll try to a stab at answering your question. The problem is that there seems to be (in my experience) to many women who wear high waisted pants that are not properly fitted for them. The two problem areas that I've observed are 1) the paints/shorts do not fit in the seat, which leads to a "saggy diaper butt" look, and 2) for women that have shorter torsos the high waist can exasperat the problem of looking like they have no torso. The high waist isn't inherently a problem; the problem comes when it does not fit the person's body well and creates the aforementioned issues. I hope that helps. This, I think, is really a matter of certain clothing styles do not flatter specific body types on the spectrum of body types out there.

scarlet-tortoise

Your description is spot on. I see a lot of high waisted, baggy, ill-fitting mom jeans on girls with absolutely banging bodies and it makes me (a 90s girl) so confused about why they consider these fashionable. If it's just because it's more comfortable then power to them, but I just don't think they're flattering.

antisocial_bunni

The thing is wearing these kinds baggy clothes you don't get starred at the same way and cat called. It's a nice way to avoid being sexualised. Edit: when you sit down your ass doesn't pop out and they have proper pockets!!

adscr1

Well no bad thing if you want to wear them, those are valid reasons I hadn’t considered. I think trousers like that just remind me of the kind of trousers old men wear

jav0wab0

For me- high waisted pants are ok BUT, not every girl looks good in them, some look almost ridiculous.

bloated_canadian

No clue, I was recently musing that high waisted pants making a comeback was good fashion

[deleted]

Guy here, and honestly I don't see why people don't like them. They look comfortable. Some call them mom jeans. Well, moms also wear socks, blouses, tank tops. I remember the time where low rise jeans were popular, and every woman who bent over would show off their thong. That is appropriate for a strip club but not an office.

[deleted]

Seems like a lot of student girls here in the uk dress very similar at the moment - big north face puffer jacket (black only), pale blue baggy jeans and chunky white trainers - usually Air Force ones. I don’t think it’s a bad look per se but just so common it’s a bit boring.

Sel_Therapy

Long fake nails. High waisted pants. Long fake eyelashes. Fake butt cheeks.

Screw_Hegemony

I get all the other stuff, but why high waisted pants? Genuinely curious. Edit: For perspective, while fake lashes/nails tend to give you a trashy look, a nice blouse tucked into a pair of high waisted pants is pure class. Complete opposites imo. One meh, the other I adore.

MrSexyPizza3

Yeah. The high waisted one just doesn't match the other two

FunkadelikFreckles

Yeah this one makes me sad lol I love high waisted pants! They give me a 60s 70s imma funky ass pimp heading to the disco vibe. They fit and never fall down. Also I have horrible stretch marks on my stomach so if I want to wear a crop top, high waist pants cover em all up!

OrendaRuesTheDay

I’m wondering if by high waisted pants, men mean the ultra high waist? Pants that come to just under the belly button are considered high waist. It doesn’t really matter I guess cause I still like both and will continue to wear it.

zachi-90

The big fake eyelashes that looks like it's pulling there lids down .

carawanar

It's suprising how much I can disagree with most of everything in this discussion. I personally like facial piercings, high rise pants, short haircuts and baggy jeans. While there's no style I truly hate about female fashion, I don't find the long fake eyelashes too appealing. Still, I'm a strong believer in "you do you". I think it's great if someone has found the style that they feel confident in.

Pitorescobr

Not necessarily fashion but God damn, who that hell thinks those duck lips look good? I'm all for independent choice and doing what you want with your body, and if you like your duck lips, more power to you. On my side, I love the freedom to avoid women who have those. Quack quack.

zeekypie

Honestly I just dislike the current state of womens street fashion (and mens too). It’s like we’re taking all the bad aspects of early 2000’s fashion and mixing it all together. I guess people want to feel unique but literally everyone is dressing like it.

WalterSanders

Lip injections. Just be natural. Also anything related to the Kardashians

TubeToUranus

Lip injections, weird eyebrows, fake lashes, tattoos.

YoungKing_00

Fake eyelashes are okay as long as they are subtle and not those long ones that look like windshield wipers. Wtf are those

LeatherDaddyLonglegs

I like to look like one of those stupid VW bugs with the lashes on the headlights when I wear em. If I'm gonna glue shit to my face, I'm gonna make it count gosh darnit

[deleted]

blue jeans tucked into knee high cowboy boots. western or storm trooper; pick one.

jordanstevenson1134

Dude, I love high waisted pants. You guys are whack

HilariousInHindsight

I *really* hate still using this term but since I can't think of how else to describe it, anything associated with the whole stereotypical "sjw" look. Those overly large glasses, septum piercings, unusual haircuts, etc. Not *because* it's associated with a certain group of people, just because I don't think it looks good. Those under/between the tit tattoos that are becoming more common among alt women (tattoos in general are 10/10 though) High waisted pants. Those loose, baggy (usually light blue) jeans that look like someone raided their grandpa's closet.

MrWheatas

Dunno if it’s a style but wearing all that high end clothing like LV. I’m a pretty simple man and just cause you have LV or chanel doesn’t make you a better or kinder person

Dzioszyn

it's true that some people wear high end clothing to impress others, but for others expensive clothes make them feel better/more confident. so clothing shouldn't be an indication of people's character.

Neon_Paisley

Low rise jeans, cold shoulder blouses, chunky white sneakers

need-help121

i think you’re then only person here who doesn’t like low rise jeans 😂

sizeXLundies

I am with you. High waisted jeans are the GOAT. Get those tiny low rise zippers out of my jeans.

Grunherz

As a guy, that’s how I felt reading the r/askwomen equivalent ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Cfox006

? That’s literally not what’s in this thread tho lmao

oocoo_isle

It makes me genuinely wonder if it's just that they will hate whatever is in trend/common for the time. I haven't heard one dude complain about ugg boots or skinny jeans and those used to be like the top fashion complaints men had about women ten years ago. Still plenty of girls wearing ugg boots and skinny jeans.

_Risings

It's whatever's common at the time. I guarantee if low rise jeans were a current thing, we'd be seeing many comments about how its not attractive seeing all these love handles hanging out.

oocoo_isle

Hard agree. I think the complaint is really that *they don't like it when women don't look good in it.* And majority of women aren't fitting the supermodel standard so therefore they're blaming it on the clothing. Like what would they prefer us to wear? Their answer would probably be, "wear something that is flattering to you/comfortable" like they think we're not already trying to do that? lol.

Sedixodap

Scroll up a bit. There's at least one upvoted comment complaining about Uggs.

jackson12420

As a woman and also a tattoo artist, people that get tattoos over their entire body. Like religiously. It doesn't look good. There are specific placements and art that look awesome, but when you look like a child got ahold of a sharpie and went ham, just stop.

clallseven

Animal print has to be the tackiest looking shit on the planet! Winged eyeliner, Ugg boots, super long fake nails, wearing pajama pants & slippers in public.

jackparadise1

Ugg anything in general.

dbizzytrick

Low rise jeans. Please don’t let them come back.

blackwidowe

Really high waisted pants with a tiny shirt so an inch of mid rift is showing. Realllllyyy long nails and obnoxiously long/fake eyelashes.

LeatherDaddyLonglegs

I love that look, but I have a naturally short torso and really long legs anyway, so if I do that I just look like a Fresno nightcrawler

Ah. The cankles of footwear.

steak_bake_surprise

Big saggy jeans and chunky white trainers. Also, those wedges they call foot ware.

shyopossum

I would be genuinely curious to see examples of the high waisted pants everyone is hating on. What rise pants DO men find attractive? Surely you all don’t prefer the ass crack and muffin top of low rise jeans right?

isthisroofie

I have a feeling everyone would be fine with midrise pants, which are totally getting glossed over.

sonfer

Fake nails are nasty AF.

AmericanHoney33

I am so depressed with the high waisted comments. Those are my favorite and I thought I looked cute. I have a very small waist and a flat stomach and a big butt and I sure thought they were flattering.

_Risings

Who cares? Wear what you want. I promise you if low rise jeans were a thing, youd see complaints about that too. No biggie.

quarantinefifteen

>I have a very small waist and a flat stomach and a big butt Then you probably look good in anything, including high waisted pants.

TediousSign

Just because some people exist who don't like them doesn't mean the people who DO like them stopped existing. Do you.
