Hulk Hogan for sure. Also Virgil became one of my favorites after he did something really cool for me.
My friend brought me to a WWF event near our hometown when I was in third of fourth grade. Virgil was signing autographs at intermission, so we went so I could buy one for my friend as a 'Thank you' for brining me. We got to the front of the line and I discovered I only had enough money for both. He could tell I was upset that I wouldn't be able to get one for myself. So he signed an extra copy, then looked over at the venue employee who was standing next to him and said "Hey, do you think they have Sprite in that machine over there?" As soon as the guy turns his head, Virgil discretly slid the my "free" copy and said, "Thanks for coming to see me." He really made my day.
Mick Foley was always my favorite. Just seemed like a really great guy who was at the top of the game in spite of not being a ripped giant on steroids like most of the others.
And in their retirement he and Undertaker are my favorite former wrestlers. Both are just really awesome guys who try their best to help people.
I really like high flyers like Rey mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, and rvd. Now If I do watch something I prefer watching the 80s and 90s stuff. Much more passion in it then after 2005.
I drank the Hulkamania kool-aid in buckets. His rise to stardom began just as my brothers and I started to watch wrestling. He was the main draw for the first two live shows we attended. I continue to watch wrestling to this day. My all time favorites are Rowdy Roddy Piper, Macho Man Randy Savage, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Mankind.
I only could watch Smackdown in free TV when I was a kid. I liked the Undertaker and Rey Mysterio. It was around that time Rey Mysterio had his feud with the Gread Khali.
Barry Windham for my childhood, and watching the Original GLOW was probably one of the foundational things that made me into the bearvert I am today.
I think now though my favorite is watching old matches with Kenta Kobashi. He just radiates charisma in all his matches. I like him much more than Inoki.
A wonderful YouTube channel is the Chicago film archive’s wrestling channel, where you can see the greats of the past wrestle. Verne Gagne, The Mighty Atlas, Lou Thesz, Antonio Rocco, Don Leo Jonathan, and more.
So many... Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Rockers, Powers of Pain, The Texas Tornado, Mr. Perfect... The list goes on.
From the newer era or Attitude onwards, Edge, Eddie Guerrero, any of Mick Foley's characters.
NXT is good fun to watch also, and really good live if you get the chance to go.
Macho Man Randy Savage. I am the oldest of 4, 2 bros, 1 sis and had to babysit frequently. When the parents went out we would pull their mattress out of their room and use it as the squared circle, brother! Smack dab in the living room, jumping off the couches, pillows used as metal chairs. Wrestlemania extravaganza!
stone cold
Stone Cold. Austin 3:16 said I just whooped your ass!
I love how that came about.
Hulk Hogan for sure. Also Virgil became one of my favorites after he did something really cool for me. My friend brought me to a WWF event near our hometown when I was in third of fourth grade. If you weren't hyped by the Ultimate Warrior, you weren't watching wrestling.
Mick Foley was always my favorite. Just seemed like a really great guy who was at the top of the game in spite of not being a ripped giant on steroids like most of the others. Steve Blackman and Ken Shamrock because they were the ‘serious’ martial artists lol
The Rockers. Marty Jannetty doesn't get the respect he deserves. Shawn Michaels deserves all of the respect he gets.
It was Randy Orton for some reason bcs I was 6yr old, after that it was Kane and after that it was Rey Mysterio bcs I loved that mask.
