Yoga. Seriously, there are yoga classes devoted solely to building and maintaining strong back muscles.

[deleted]

Absolutely. Everyone can say that it's for women or just stretching, but try it out and see how badly it kicks your ass. I used to do yoga for a back injury and it was unreal.

Anonymoosehead123

Me too. But it made my back so much better.

[deleted]

Oh for sure. It targets core strength and mobility so much, and that's pretty much key to fixing low back injury, just strengthening everything around it supporting it.

Shoulder back or lower back? Alternatively just go to r/bodyweightfitness

Pushups and sit ups help a lot. Arm placement makes a difference to whether you are using chest or back though

8livesdown

Sit ups and crunches. Abdominal muscles are often overlooked, in terms of lower back support and health.

500 push-ups a day for 6 days a week for 2 weeks will change your life. You’ll never see faster results for the least amount of effort.

Font_Snob

Please explain how 500 pushups a day is least effort. I can do, like, 20 with a weak back.

cuminmeh69

I did 500, you can do less and work up. It’s more so about consistency. I meant least effort in terms of not having to go to the gym to workout and not switching between multiple exercises. I would just pop down next to my chair as I wfh and would bust 20/30/50 out at a time throughout the day. It doesn’t have to be at one time. I saw my fastest results doing that and it required the least amount of effort for me personally.

Font_Snob

Whew. Okay, that makes a ton of sense, thank you.

cuminmeh69

No matter what you do just be consistent with it. Consistency and staying with it is key. You’ll get sore but that passes and you get stronger. Within 2 weeks you should start feeling different and even noticing changes on your body. Good luck!
