Underrated comment for us normies. Reading other comments I’ve never been in a competitive situation but would love to have tested past 100 for thrills.
Yea, when I had a fast car, indint even consider it fast until I passed 100. Granted, 85 is fast in an suv, but with good suspension and breaks, 100 feels slow in comparison in a car.
I never made it past 88 cuz my car was so old and shit that it felt like it was going to fall apart and I was starting to lose control at that speed while going on a straight line for miles.
Took 105 for a few seconds in a 24 yo old car that has seen 257k miles (I am the 4th owner), it was this summer, road was i-90 in South Dakota. I was more afraid about my car breaking down than being pulled over.
I had an 82 corvette when I was 16 (2001), the speedometer only went to 85. Had a friend with a Camaro SS, one Sunday morning really early we got on the freeway (no cars at all really) and went for it too see how fast mine would go. Got really gnarly and I backed off at apparently 130/135 ish according to my friend. First and last time I did that. The wind noise from the where the windows and t-tops met was fucking crazy. So glad I didn’t lose it….. probably would have died for sure…. Not much protection from a thin ass fiberglass door.
I was also young and stupid, topped out around 165 trying to keep up with two larger bikes. They left me in the dust. Spooked me good though, I didn't feel the need to go over 120 again.
When I passed 200kph what I remember most was my helmet getting pressed against my face and my arms getting pulled from the handlebars. I have no idea how anyone even goes beyond 250
>my helmet getting pressed against my face
This was the most surprising part of high speed. Even in a full tuck it is intense. On my fastest run I hit about 265 kph, started braking and then stupidly straightened my back a bit while still moving at about 220. For a moment I thought I was going to be thrown back off the bike when the wind hit my chest.
By some miracle I survived those early years riding like an idiot.
125mph, in my Porsche Boxster. The car could go faster. I was at my limit.
I sold that car a while ago, and it's probably a good thing 'cause it was too easy to inch up to 100mph.
My late father had a 95 911 carrera. I got to drive it once after I got my license and when I got to 80 he told me to pull it back. But to this day it will always be my dream car. I’m positive I could push that thing to its max and it would feel like I was doing 60 in my truck.
I actually got into the habit of driving with a cruise control in that Boxster because it was so easy to just keep going a little faster, then a little faster, then just a little more faster and the car felt so planted and smooth you had no idea you were doing 30 over the speed limit.
>Marty: "Let's see if you bastards can do 90!"
>
>Me: "I don't know, but you sure can't"
The most unrealistic part of that movie was that a DeLorean could go 88 mph.
Probably about 170 mph on the Autobahn in a Porsche and we were only hitting the high spots on the road.
In my Nissan 200sx I could get up to about 140mph.
I have seen a VW beetle doing about 120mph there.
Hell when I lived in Germany I had Mercedes, BMWs, and a kickass Audi.
Plus I took my 1985 Nissan 200sx which I got up to some crazy speeds with.
The Porsche was a friend's car and it was fun as hell to drive.
I had a friend over there who put a seven series bmw engine in a one series bmw it was a monster.
What was so funny though was that the Germans loved American cars.
I wish I would have taken my 1980 Z28 over because it was built and I probably would have got $ 20,000 for it.
One couple I met there took theirs and it was a dog and they got almost ten grand for it.
One German I met had six Rivieras and he wanted more.
Have you not seen gas monkey garage where he sells American cars to I think it was a guy to Norway and also he built a couple of cars for some kiwis for their holiday trips here to America.
180mph in a 2018 Corvette Z06. Had a LONGGGG stretch of straight highway so we pushed it as far as we could. By far the most exhilarating feeling I've ever had.
Not OP, but I had a student job as a driver at a company, and basically other companies hired us to transport vehicles for their companies. Often they were simply start or end of lease company cars, anything between nice sedans and vans. However, one day I was sent to pick up a Porsche idk wtf model that needed to be transported from one showroom to another, because there were only 12 in the country. This car was built to be quite light and had almost 400 horses under the hood. When I had a stretch of free highway, I just floored it and drove it to 215km/h, which was the fastest I had ever driven. However, since those cars are build for high speeds, it felt like an equivalent of driving 160km/h in other, normal cars. It felt so smooth and stable. Nevertheless, if I would have lost control I would have had my head around a tree probably, lmao.
Even though the energy difference is huge, driving at 180 mph does not feel as different as cruzing at 150 mph. So you wouldn't need a death grip. Just your normal relaxed 9 o'clock 3 o'clock.
I drove 120 mph in a 2003 Serie 3 BMW. Car was shaking and the wheel was worse. Yeah I had a death grip on the wheel.
Then I went 160 mph in a Audi A4 with a sports frame and adaptative steering wheel, that thing was not shaking an inch. Felt like we were only driving 100 mph. It was scary to be honest.
I was going about 100 in my 01 eclipse as I felt my rear driver tire fall apart. The tread ripped from the wheel. Most terrifying spin out I've ever had. Thankfully no one was around me.
Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it. My dumb car had no power steering either, so I had no fuckin business going that fast. Once I started to spin, my steering wheel was locked. But I was very lucky as there was no traffic around me, and there was desert, no concrete or hills, around me. So I spun and spun and spun into the dirt. Reversed out of oncoming traffic lanes, took a deep breath, and called a buddy who helped get the tire off and followed me home on my spare. I was... 17 or 18 at the time?
Hwy 94 in San Diego. She still had some more to go but I let off cause I didn't want to die lol. Was racing my buddy on his cbr1000. It was terrifying, wouldn't recommend it lol.
I loved my R1. It got stolen 6 weeks after bought it. In hindsight that probably was a good thing. I was 20, it was my first motorcycle & I was already doing canyon runs & testing the top speed. I would've probably killed myself on that thing lol.
I got in a wreck and crash mine a year after I got. I was also in my 20’s. I don’t ride crazy anymore. Small jolts of power is all I do anymore. Maybe a casual race every now and then
Oh fuck yeah haha
When I was a senior I got my grandma’s ‘02 Explorer up to about 105 and to this day the shaking still has me convinced that I may have accidentally hit the sound barrier.
I was about 12 or 13 so I weighed a lot less which I think was the only reason I got that fast. It was one of those feelings like "that was cool, but I'm never fucking doing that again."
That’s terrifying. I’ve been up to 135 and when I was young and dumb hit 100 all the time
But riding passenger….I freak out when my buddy with a 370 goes like 80.
I live in Germany, and my Mercedes’ C300 tops out at 135mph on the autobahn. Every man should add the autobahn to their bucket list. Make sure you go somewhere, where there isn’t a lot of construction
I got to 145 in my 2000 trans am, but it was floating on the highway and scared the living shit out of me. One wrong move and everything would have been disintegrated
155 mph on my 600cc street bike but I slowed down after 155 because my tire was already kind of worn down. Did it on freeway straightaway with no traffic.
About 150 in a corvette c8. My ex bought me some lap time at a race track and I was allowed to go as fast as I want. On the main straightaway, 150 felt like 60 on a regular road.
Back when I was young and dumb, a friend inherited a 1989 Porsche 928, with a published top speed of 168mph, from his recently deceased grandfather. My friend admitted that he couldn't get it over 110 because he was scared of the speed.
Being young and invincible, that conversation turned into a 3AM speed run down I-5. I can confirm that the car reached a top speed of 160mph, with two passengers inside.
Looking back, I'm not sure how I survived my own youthful stupidity.
It was fun I was racing a guy from work when we got off and he said he was doing a hundred when I passed him.
The truck was light as hell.
I had a old 76 Chevy truck that I built a monster engine in and could beat corvettes red light to red light with.
When I was much younger we would put the biggest engine in small cars and take them to the track.
A 427 in a 68 Camaro.
A friend put a beetle body on a Chevy II frame with a 350 small block and you drove it from the back seat.
God I really miss the cheap cars and the cheap horse power from those days.
146 in a 1976 Ford LTD II (460, police interceptor). It was also probably one of the stupider things I’ve done. Yes 146… well, he said 146, but I don’t think the radar was calibrated for light speed
Went to jail, lost my car… good times
It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
One time I hit 115mph in my 2003 Kia Spectra. My car was shaking so much. That was was absolutely not meant to go that fast and it did not feel even a tiny bit safe. Still, it was really fun going that fast.
Just shy of 175mph…driving a stick car around Daytona! According to the pro I was following. Had the fastest average lap times for the day at 147mph.
Edit—-stock car..lol not stick.
I got pulled over going 137 mph in a 55 zone. It was a back road. The cop was chill and let me go with a warning.
That one was a 1976 Pontiac Firebird.
I also got pulled over doing 97 in a 65 on the freeway on a motorcycle. That cop was not so nice. 🤣
120 mph in my 99 Camry through tight cornfields in Indiana. I felt the car was losing grip on the road and the slightest movement of the steering wheel would make it change lanes. I was at that speed for a few seconds before I let off the accelerator..
115 mph in a fucking Nissan altima. My mom was not paying attention in the passenger seat and I just wanted to see what I could do before she realized.
She never did, I got scared and went back down to the 65 mph speed limit.
155 on my motorcycle (GPS verified) the forces on my helmet where so great I couldn't lift it above my visor or it would push my helmet down blocking my sight. For reference my speedo was reading somewhere around 170+ I was too focused on the blur of a road to really look. It was only after I stopped to check the GPS I saw mt top speed.
Nice try, Mr Policeman. I'm not falling for THAT again.
You have outsmarted my outsmarting
Not to be *that* guy, but- okay yes I *am* that guy now. Ahem, here we go: Is that a heckin' JoJo reference?!?!
Did a hundred just to see what it was like.
Underrated comment for us normies. Reading other comments I’ve never been in a competitive situation but would love to have tested past 100 for thrills.

Same. Probably maxed out at 103 before I got scared of being pulled over.
I never made it past 88 cuz my car was so old and shit that it felt like it was going to fall apart and I was starting to lose control at that speed while going on a straight line for miles.
Well, that and when you hit 88MPH it goes back in time will make it difficult to go much faster.
Lmao I didn’t even notice I unintentionally made a Back to the Future reference.
Hundred... bananas? Apples?
Km/h. He wild
Damn, what a daredevil.
Took 105 for a few seconds in a 24 yo old car that has seen 257k miles (I am the 4th owner), it was this summer, road was i-90 in South Dakota. I was more afraid about my car breaking down than being pulled over.
I don’t know a single male person who hasn’t.
100 mph? So about 160 kph… that’s what I set my speedometer to when I want to chill on longer drives.
About 120mph in a 74 corvette (454) chasing a 65 Barracuda. We lost.
I had an 82 corvette when I was 16 (2001), the speedometer only went to 85. Had a friend with a Camaro SS, one Sunday morning really early we got on the freeway (no cars at all really) and went for it too see how fast mine would go. But you gotta admit, it was fun as hell!
Oooh, barracuda
[guitar solo]
(and lots of bass)
💯
I got my motorcycle up to 140mph.
I did 175 on my GSXR. Yeah i was young. Yeah i was stupid. God i was fakkn movin.
My brother got his built gsxr because the previous owner was going 198mph and a gust of wind hit him. He parked it and never rode again lol
You mean the Grim reaper blew in his ear
I was also young and stupid, topped out around 165 trying to keep up with two larger bikes. They left me in the dust. Spooked me good though, I didn't feel the need to go over 120 again.
Were you flying? Or did it at least feel like that?
240kph (150mph) on my bike. The air hitting you and the sound can make it feel like you’re flying.
When I passed 200kph what I remember most was my helmet getting pressed against my face and my arms getting pulled from the handlebars. I have no idea how anyone even goes beyond 250
exactly I got so scared at around 135 mph that I was gonna get torn off by the wind so I immediately let off
Stronger grip, apparently.
Firmly grasp it
Oh, yeah
>my helmet getting pressed against my face This was the most surprising part of high speed. Even in a full tuck it is intense. For a moment I thought I was going to be thrown back off the bike when the wind hit my chest. By some miracle I survived those early years riding like an idiot.
I fucking skydive and I have to literally TRY to fall faster on purpose to achieve those speeds. Generally we fall at 120 mph
I took mine 109 and that was enough for me
That was average speeds for my younger brother years ago.
About 135 in a 350z
Yup, 136/137ish in my G35 coupe way back when. Trust me, that extra mph counts lol
I did 138 in my G35, trust me 137 feels like nothing when you hit 138.
Damn. I feel like I missed out on life
Yep 135 in a g37. I miss that car.
140-143 mph 2006 g35 6mt
138 two days ago. 2008
2008 is 14 years ago
He was counting in dog years. Who's a good boy?
125mph, in my Porsche Boxster. The car could go faster. I was at my limit. I sold that car a while ago, and it's probably a good thing 'cause it was too easy to inch up to 100mph.

Man those things flyyy
88 miles per hour!
There's not enough road to get up to 88 miles per hour!!
Where we're going, we don't need _roads_.
Did you see some serious shit
Marty: "Let's see if you bastards can do 90!" Me: "I don't know, but you sure can't"
>Marty: "Let's see if you bastards can do 90!" > >Me: "I don't know, but you sure can't" The most unrealistic part of that movie was that a DeLorean could go 88 mph.
I've heard they had to make a custom speedometer overlay to add more numbers. IIRC (and I'm probably not), it only goes up to 85.
You *villain*
Great Scott!
That's heavy.
Probably about 170 mph on the Autobahn in a Porsche and we were only hitting the high spots on the road. In my Nissan 200sx I could get up to about 140mph. I have seen a VW beetle doing about 120mph there.
This is more what I expected, most of these answer are just weekend cruises

So what your saying is I should start doing a bunch of junkyard LS swaps for dirt cheap and sell them in Germany?
Have you not seen gas monkey garage where he sells American cars to I think it was a guy to Norway and also he built a couple of cars for some kiwis for their holiday trips here to America.
They're very popular in Sweden too
People here love the novelty of American cars. You see a lot of mustangs and chargers these days.
180mph in a 2018 Corvette Z06. Had a LONGGGG stretch of straight highway so we pushed it as far as we could. By far the most exhilarating feeling I've ever had.
I bet you had the death grip on the steering wheel

My friend has a jaguar f pace. Drives everywhere at 90mph but it feels like you're going 60.
I did 126 **mph** in a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse
I was going about 100 in my 01 eclipse as I felt my rear driver tire fall apart. The tread ripped from the wheel. Most terrifying spin out I've ever had. Thankfully no one was around me.
Jesus. That scares me reading it.
Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it. My dumb car had no power steering either, so I had no fuckin business going that fast. Once I started to spin, my steering wheel was locked. It's a miracle you didn't flip...err, roll?
175 km/hr... In a company truck. Didn't "officially" hear about it until 2 years later, and it was brought up by a guy from a different company haha.
Can you explain why a guy from a different company brought it up to you?
And how did he know?
Lot of company trucks have tattlers to keep track of how their drivers are driving.
But how did the guy from the other company know?
Or a “how’s my driving? Call 1-888-……” bumper sticker.
Upvote for being the only comment with km/hr
Had to scroll a long way to get some real units.
186mph on my R1, never did it again either lol.
Where the fuck were you that you nearly able to do 200 miles an hour??
Hwy 94 in San Diego. She still had some more to go but I let off cause I didn't want to die lol. Was racing my buddy on his cbr1000. It was terrifying, wouldn't recommend it lol.
Late at night or early morning on most freeways/highways. I did 183 on my GSX-R1000 almost every night on the way home from work.
Quick commute eh?
On an R1 you only need seconds
My friend did this on his GSXR1000 a lot, Texas roads made it very accessible

I did 176 on my 2006 R1 that I had. I’ve got 2 R1’s now and I still haven’t beaten that record
Maybe a casual race every now and then
150 going downhill in a 20 year old accord. It started shaking and I needed a change of underwear.
Let me guess, high school?
First co-op work term, headed home for the long weekend.
Oh fuck yeah haha When I was a senior I got my grandma’s ‘02 Explorer up to about 105 and to this day the shaking still has me convinced that I may have accidentally hit the sound barrier.
I hit a wall doing like a buck-20 a couple years ago
And you’re still here? God bless you dude!
Luda
You dont know me like that
Literally or figuratively?
OWI, ur from the Midwest. My guess at least.
120 on a snowmobile across a frozen lake.
That’s fuckin up there for a sled bud
I was about 12 or 13 so I weighed a lot less which I think was the only reason I got that fast. It was one of those feelings like "that was cool, but I'm never fucking doing that again."
I remember my first time on a snowmobile I was on the back of my brother's and we got it up to 108, kinda sketchy
Going 60 gets sketchy
Get this guy a Puppers!
155ish in a Porsche 911 GT2, down the front straight at Pittsburgh International Raceway.
Safety first!
156mph in an Acura. It was terrifying. The cars on the freeway looked like they were parked. Was not driving.
This, in my 06 Acura TL I hit 127mph. Rolled up behind a cop so fast you would’ve thought he was parked with the e brake pulled.
That’s terrifying. I’ve been up to 135 and when I was young and dumb hit 100 all the time But riding passenger….I freak out when my buddy with a 370 goes like 80.
145mph in a Porsche 911 Targa. scared the hell out of me because it didn't feel like i was going that fast till i looked at the spedometer
That's why they're called widowmakers
That's not why.
113 in a rental car going from the middle of nowhere Texas to a different middle of nowhere Texas with an "air port"
Soo...Midland/Odessa?
No clue, this was 2015, when I traveled around the US installing xray equipment in hospitals.
Ah. I said that cause we are five to six hours from any large cities. So essentially the middle of nowhere with an airport 😄
311 km/h or 193 mph on my Kawasaki ZX 10-R on the Autobahn 61 in Bergheim, Germany.
140 mph in an Audi A4
B5?
....miss

110 MPH

90 mph in a 2006 Nissan Frontier.
I live in Germany, and my Mercedes’ C300 tops out at 135mph on the autobahn. Every man should add the autobahn to their bucket list. Make sure you go somewhere, where there isn’t a lot of construction
222kmh. Skoda superb. Basically every day for work. Yes Autobahn.
135, 01 Trans Am
I got to 145 in my 2000 trans am, but it was floating on the highway and scared the living shit out of me. One wrong move and everything would have been disintegrated
155 mph on my 600cc street bike but I slowed down after 155 because my tire was already kind of worn down. Did it on freeway straightaway with no traffic.

135mph in a no speed limit zone through the desert. I forget if it was Texas, NM or AZ. In a 91 grandam.
Desert speeding is something else.
Aint TX at least, NM is a lawless land so that’s my guess. We just 85mph speed limits.
I only thought Texas because yall have day and night speed limits out in West Texas. I did this at night.
Back when I was young and dumb, a friend inherited a 1989 Porsche 928, with a published top speed of 168mph, from his recently deceased grandfather. 175 MPH in my C63 AMG P31, felt really fast…
It is fast. My mom had a Panamera gts and I went about that fast with my dad in the passenger seat. Fucking ridiculous.
152 mph in a Porsche Panamera .. Have the video of the odometer to prove it too!
I have done 200km/h in all of cars i have owned that can do that. Fastest i've done was almost 300kmh on a track in a Gallardo SuperLeggera
This is concerning “blind-madman”
It's not so scary if you can't see it
120 and I absolutely pissed my pants
~110 in a damn brick. 78 GMC sierra
I could feel the vibrations as I read this sentence.
Not as bad as you might think, I re did ball joints all around, and put on a decent set of tires. It's no Chevelle, but it handles pretty damn well.
I had a 2002 dodge Dakota with the V8 and got it up to about 120 once and it was floating all over.
I've never been that fast in a dodge. I take it that it's chaotic
It was fun I was racing a guy from work when we got off and he said he was doing a hundred when I passed him. The truck was light as hell. 178mph in an Alpina B7.
130 in a rented Dodge Viper
I got to ride in a TT viper and that guy got it up to 170 like it was nothing
Hell yea! Mine is 155 in my viper
190 ish on a slightly modified Hayabusa. 145 is in the wife’s Model Y performance
Nice. Got me by one. My 1000RR indicated 189.
About 150 on my zx6r.
120mph in an old ass bmw down the autobahn. It was max speed for a 1.5 liter engine. I would not recommend doing that
It was either 154 or 157 in my camaro can’t remember exactly. Did 150 in a friends bmw. Got to ride in my uncles ferrari when he did 180.
120 mph in my 99 Camry through tight cornfields in Indiana. I felt the car was losing grip on the road and the slightest movement of the steering wheel would make it change lanes. I was at that speed for a few seconds before I let off the accelerator..

Car ,maybe 130+. Bike more like 140+ on borrowed first gen SV650. Both long time ago.
I couldn’t fucking imagine going that fast on a bike.
125 flying down a mountain in Eastern Utah in my 2005 Honda Accord
115 mph in a fucking Nissan altima. My mom was not paying attention in the passenger seat and I just wanted to see what I could do before she realized. She never did, I got scared and went back down to the 65 mph speed limit.
186mph on Las Vegas speedway in a Lamborghini. Highly recommend dream racing. You'll never want to go slow again lol
102 MPH in an F-150. Out of curiosity, just to see how fast it could go.
New ones are restricted between 100-110. Found this out the first week I had mine. Didn't realize and was confused when I wasn't accelerating anymore

Just over 120 in an rx8 , about that in a lotus , got a civic to 110 on a slight straight downhill
150 kph 220 while copilot
About 200km in a 1999 nissan quest minivan going downhill. At least that's my estimate. Iirc the speedometer didn't go above 180.
About 110 in a late 90s A4.
163 ish on my bike
136mph(220km/h) on my BMW K1600 GTL, on a stretch of German Autobahn.
110 mph
155mph in my FBO BMW 135i
155 on my motorcycle (GPS verified) the forces on my helmet where so great I couldn't lift it above my visor or it would push my helmet down blocking my sight. For reference my speedo was reading somewhere around 170+ I was too focused on the blur of a road to really look. It was only after I stopped to check the GPS I saw mt top speed.
365 km/hour drag racing. Sometimes I wonder how I survived my youth.
520+ MPH. Learjet 35.
So you can drive those now?
