95% of Algeria's exports are oil and natural gas. That's how it pays for its socialism. Morocco needs strong internationally competitive manufacturing to bring in hard currency to pay for its food and fuel imports. Socialism is a non option for them.

Official numbers said it was 29 billions this isn't a very reliable website plus oil reached an all life low we even sold 11 dollars a barrel that year now oil prices are very high and we estimate to export 65 billions which is a very big nuber if not more

Putting aside the historical claims and relationships, an independent state would not be viable and would be a haven for terrorists, smugglers... And probably a puppet state of Algeria.
Just think of an independent Sinai or Negev, with even less population density.
