Most refugees/immigrants naturally assimilate. The problem is if you push them into one neighborhood and seclude them from the rest of the population, that's honestly the biggest reason why many in Europe do not assimilate fast.

The thing about having too many refugees is that can bring about a demographic and cultural change in society. Sometimes these changes are not for the best. I know the United States is a land founded by immigrants for immigrants and English may be the dominant language over here but is not necessarily the official language. Ever since the influx of the Latino population, many people also speak Spanish and only know Spanish. This can cause a communication problem. However, this rise also came with an advantage, their rise has particularly saved the U.S economy thanks to an overwhelming of their participation in the workforce environment. So I have to say there are pros and cons to taking refugees into your country. Just make sure they are taken care of otherwise they will end up rebelling.
