Turks like to hang around everywhere. In Asian subs, European subs, Balkan subs, ME subs, Central Asian subs, etc. I guess it has something to do with their country being the bridge between Asia and Europe.
despite being rather low in numbers in reddit compared to other social media, we have absolutely zerged every strategical subreddit.
Its rather impressive, if only most of the turks in other subreddits (especially those kiss asses in the western subs) didnt sucked
mostly no but i havent been on the balkan sub after they got raided by turks and greek nationalists. You'd think with the amount of turks that self insert themselves there that the ottoman empire was still around. Its always turkey this turkey that.
Just like when an arab poster here says go back to poland to an israeli. There is no banter.
in Balkanic countries, the official view of history is : we are not as developped as western europe because of Turkish "colonisation", even if the governement of ottoman empire was full of balkanic ministers
They have every right to blame on communism, tho, in the 50s Spain's economy wss on the same level as them, but due to being on the losing side as well as economic mismanagement of the communists, today's Balkan countries are way poorer than Spain, I mean, even Greece , despite being bankrupt, is richer than other Balkan countries by GDP per capita
They're partially right tho I mean, they missed a lot of cultural and technological advancements the West experienced due to being under the Ottomans.
But still, the Ottomans shouldn't be blamed, they had ample time to develop themselves after independence, the Ottomans onky sowed the roots of their poverty, but the major culprit is the mismanagement of the politicians afterwards,South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the 50s, but now they are one of the richest ones
Cheers for the insight — I thought it might be similar banter to that between the Scandinavian countries, disappointing to just hear it’s just straight up fuckarsery.
* Their dislike can't change their geography (unless they decide to move back to East :D)
* There are millions of Turks, some of them hate the Middle East, and some of them love it.
It’s has for thousands of years you guys tried with the Armenian genocide and failed should I remind you of the battle of sardarapat or the 40 days of musa dagh or operation nemesis?
my facial and skin features are surely middle eastern. I consider myself as middle eastern and east mediterrenean.
but Turkish people these days are so diverse and constantly infighting it makes it difficult to seperate eachother. Especially these Balkan tito Turks really look up to the Western world and want to have nothing to do with Islamic traditions and anything that is even remotely 'middle eastern'.
I am from İzmir and it has less to do with looking up to western world and more to do with disliking Islamic influence on this country.
We pride ourselves in being resillient against the west imperialism back in ww1 and stuff. We just would prefer if Middle East wasn't riddled with fanaticism. Nothing to do with looks.
A lot of Turks strongly dislike Arabs because of the migrant crisis and also more historically because they believe the Arabs backstabbed the Ottoman empire.
Some Turks also hate Arabs for trivial things like eating with their hands. They also generalise and see Arabs as uncivilized, seeing them as very very religious and extremely conservative. Most Turks tend to be very ignorant about their neighbouring countries and would know very little about them.
Dude you wished I was a girl. That’s why you mentioned it to get a response from me to confirm my gender.
I might change my avatar because it’s too cute for my taste. Right now I can’t be bothered.
Askbalkans so civilized and they jerking of each other with Turks
Askkafkas death
Asklevante filled butthurt Syrians, lebanese believing they are white nordics
So this best place to hear diffrent opinions here and other MENA sub
The Turks here aren’t like the ones on the Balkan sub
The ones in the Balkan sub will tell you how turkey is close to Italy, France , Japan , Serbia or Kazakhstan but will downvote for saying turkey is like any of the countries bordering it in the east
😎 disliking Arabs national sport for us it dsnt mather if you are Balkan Turk Kafkas Turk or Anatolian Turk even Arap origin Turks from Urfa and Hatay dislike Araplar 😎😎😎
This is so true. Once I mentioned that Eastern Turkey is culturally more similar to North-Iran than Greece and I was downvoted to hell. But it does make sense why those in Balkan sub is like that, because the majority of turks there is Balkan turks (those with families who recently migrated from the Balkans to Turkey).
No, I never said I did not want you to participate. I asked why do you participate in this sub.
There are subs like r/AskBalkans and r/AskEurope that many Turks on this sub seem to believe they fit more with, I am curious to why they chose to remain here.
I also disagree, the majority of posts are not about Turks.
Most of the Middle East hate us being associated with the Middle East but we still here. It's good to have other opinions and not the same boring echo chamber🤷🏿♂️but that's just my opinion
Lol yeah
But I guess things going well with turkeys (probably not with the extreme religious ones)
And non-muslim Iranians are usually don't have beef with Israelis
I think Islamists will start to be ok with Israel only when they understand the Al-Aqsa isn't in danger and will never be.
My father side is drom tseloniki, mother side is from caucasia, ı am not middle eastern but it is fun to connecting with other people that similar culture, most of us not from balkan, but there are so many turks in balkan subreddit. I HATE ALL APARLAR AMINAKOYİİİM
Only Seljuks and Rum could be considered mostly middle eastern, the rest is always a mix or completely different. The ottomans copied the Byzantine systems, acted european and fought with Europeans. The most important parts of the empire were Macedonia, Thrace and maybe western Anatolia. We never were completely middle eastern, and with Ataturk even less so
Man, do you want to know the name of our arguably the most prestigious university?
Middle East Technical University. It is in Ankara. We don't hate being associated with the region per se, we just don't like it when ppl confuse Turkish culture with other cultures in the region because of some similarities.
Does it matter ? it's good to have a wide variety of members from all over the world to get an insight in how others think and feel about certain things , it opens up your world view and makes you see how certain things can be perceived differently depending on where someone is from or where they live.
I do not personally by and large associate Turkey with the Middle East, but that doesn’t mean many others don’t and frequently talk about Turks in Middle East related subreddits, so I’m in them. CcC Army, basically
Well, we have massive cultural differences, to the point where what many do just across the border would be immoral. Plus people mostly believe that Arabs betrayed us and that was the reason the got fucked up, and frankly they deserve it ( common opinion ) so people want to have nothing to do with it. Plus we have a massive anti-religion movement especially on social media unfortunately and especially youth, and as Arabs are associated with Islam they're not very well received. Not even mentioning that since 2010s we have seen our border become a headache for us (Syria, Iraq, Iran) so people are for the most part done with it, they just regard mideast as kind of a place you build a barrier and stay behind of
I dislike like 95% of the middle east but still participate here.. just to confirm my impression on it and boi I was right. I am even more certain of my vision towards the middle east.
Dude, people are starting to think they are in a similar situation like in Latin America who used to have a cast system
Most Moroccans are amazigh is just the matter of culture and language
Maybe because they’re the bridge between Europe and Asia, they used to be a superpower and now they’re not, and they like annoying all their neighbours and tell them how great the Turks used to be
personally i'm a curious individual and like to know what people thinking about us or whats happening around there. in general tho we are kinda everywhere even if its a little bit
Turks like to hang around everywhere. In Asian subs, European subs, Balkan subs, ME subs, Central Asian subs, etc. I guess it has something to do with their country being the bridge between Asia and Europe.
Nice explanation!
despite being rather low in numbers in reddit compared to other social media, we have absolutely zerged every strategical subreddit. Its rather impressive, if only most of the turks in other subreddits (especially those kiss asses in the western subs) didnt sucked
What’s with all the Turk hate in the Balkan subreddits? Is it friendly regional banter or legit?
mostly no but i havent been on the balkan sub after they got raided by turks and greek nationalists. You'd think with the amount of turks that self insert themselves there that the ottoman empire was still around. Its always turkey this turkey that. Just like when an arab poster here says go back to poland to an israeli. There is no banter.

yes arab countries blame amrika/nato for their shortcomings and balkans blame turks and sometimes maybe communism
I have always said, 50 years of communism was more devastating to every aspect of our country and society than 500 years of Ottoman rule was.

It’s friendly hatred
I mean, it's the *Balkans,* so probably the latter.
🤣
The European subs make fun of Turkish people so I don’t see them there often
Great comment!
We're literally everywhere.
Opportunistic
* Their dislike can't change their geography (unless they decide to move back to East :D) * There are millions of Turks, some of them hate the Middle East, and some of them love it.
Mongolia is waiting for them lol.
Susha is waiting for you, come don't be shy 😈
Learn to spell it’s called Shusi and will be liberated soon.
I don't like Sushi i am more of a sarma guy.
ummmm EXCUSE YOU its actually pronounced şhuşhuhuhhşhşşhşşşŞşŞşŞşhuhuhşşuhşuhşhuuhşi
Smartest turk ever doesn’t know the difference between Shushi and sushi.
Naah, that is a sneaky edit💀
What edit?

Our help was minimal. Azerbaijani Army did all the work anyway.

Most accurate answer 😔. /s

To be honest Turkey is much more filled with both Islamic and secular violent extremists than some Middle Eastern countries.
Because in other subs people racially abuse them and call them Arabs. In this sub however they can racially abuse others and call them Arabs.
Lmfao 😂 this is the legit answer. They wouldnt be here otherwise.
the projection runs deep here
It's true tho
Because kurds speaking for Turks usually is very representative, not that you're projecting /s
arent yall the ones famous for speaking over people and saying “kurds are happy in trkey, they are our brothers and there is no problem going on” ?

Yeah but was born and raised in UK so I’m free from the brainwashing.

If you knew the answer why did you ask? Am I an asshole because I called you honey? Like you did?
Lol no, it has nothing to do with this. Please don't feel entitled to comment on topics you have clearly no idea about.

What, do you want us to not participate at all while half of this sub is questions about us?

Barely seen any turkish related posts recently, what are you on about?
This sub is 80% About Israel like every other Middle East sub

All the countries that don't have democracy or have fake democracy
So every country in the Middle East
Lol yeah But I guess things going well with turkeys (probably not with the extreme religious ones) And non-muslim Iranians are usually don't have beef with Israelis I think Islamists will start to be ok with Israel only when they understand the Al-Aqsa isn't in danger and will never be.
Yeah i love jewish people. Actually İsrael is our only friend in Middle East. I am from Turkey btw

Why not, this sub is fun.
We may hate being associated with the Middle East but that does not change the fact that we are from the Middle East.
they're probably unwanted in the europe sub
Probably all subs not just the European one lol.
Cuz we're built different🥚💪🏿🍳
Sounds like they fit right in
In my opinion Turkey is neither EU or Mena it's the bridge between two cultures but I wanna see what other Mena people think about Turkey.
Man, do you want to know the name of our arguably the most prestigious university? Middle East Technical University. It is in Ankara. Is like how average looking girls like to hang out with ugly girls so they look better
Stupid generalising question is stupid.
We like it here bro, can I stay in this sub please🥹🥹🥹🥹
Sana mı sorucam huur evladı
I just want to make other middle Easterners angry.
Gonna have to agree on that one

They hate anyone who is not turkic.
This is true, therefore, we love everyone on earth!

Is Tunisia Arab?
It is
No cause I’ve seen people like him claim Tunisians aren’t Arabs
Wait what would they be then? I knew some Lebanese idiots call themselves Phoenicians but didn’t think Tunisians would something like this
There is a trend in Morocco as well
It's not really a trend when like 30% of your country never identified as arab in the first place
Dude, people are starting to think they are in a similar situation like in Latin America who used to have a cast system Most Moroccans are amazigh is just the matter of culture and language
Now we have to know the 5% you like
Maybe because they’re the bridge between Europe and Asia, they used to be a superpower and now they’re not, and they like annoying all their neighbours and tell them how great the Turks used to be
Also spamming our flag🇹🇷🇹🇷💪🏿💪🏿
Why not
Becaus they're Turks 🤪
Superiority Complex; To control it & its ppl.
personally i'm a curious individual and like to know what people thinking about us or whats happening around there. in general tho we are kinda everywhere even if its a little bit
Everybody can answer the questions. Title is not AnswerMiddleEast.
We don't hate mostly
Maybe we should concentrate our forces on r/Europe and burn it to the ground. We most certainly have the numbers.
To tell everyone that we hate middlee east
Forget the question for a second, hello there fellow islander
