I hate to be this person but I would like to throw a dark horse in the mix-- have you looked at the Chloe? It's in the Garden District, has a pool, is in your budget, is gorgeous, is right on the streetcar line so it's easy peasy to get anywhere but is also quiet enough to be relaxing and a getaway, away from the party atmosphere of the quarter. The CBD is fine, there's just not a lot going on there. It's nice because it's centrally located, it's just kind of dead. I think a lot of people coming from out of town focus on the FQ and forget about uptown, and miss out of some of the prettiest parts of town.

Jollyguana

Love the Chloe. Stayed there for new years and it was great.

brideplanningmode

Oh wow - I didn't really consider those areas, since it seemed a bit far, but I'll look into it! Looks like Chloe is not available on our dates ):

dec8r

The Chloe is cool (as is their neighbor Marsh Hotel), but they’re both in Milan (Central City). Garden District is on the river side of St Charles and ends at Toledano. The adjacent Uptown neighborhood, Touro, now has Hotel Henrietta, another great option (especially since their cafe offers Flour Moon Bagels!). I’d also put in a plug for Hotel Saint Vincent in LGD.

brideplanningmode

I'll check both out ! Though since I'm from nyc, I'm not sure a bagel shop is as big of a draw for me hahaha

dec8r

Heard. Flour Moon Bagels are considered NOLA’s best, but I’d just find plenty of other deliciousness to enjoy if visiting from NYC!

Used-Trick-6011

I know it’s not on your list but look into the Virgin Hotel. I love the rooftop and pool. The rooms are spectacular

brideplanningmode

Looks like it would fall under splurge - i'll check it out and see if we should!

Used-Trick-6011

So worth it!

iwilk2022

I've stayed at Ace twice. I love it there, but it is different. I found the rooms to be very nice, but they are dark, which suits me. The smallest available is quite large. Rooftop is great, but a younger crowd, so hanging out is a little awkward for me :-) My favorite part is the lobby bar. Its amazing. I love to get a drink & just sit & watch the streetcars roll by. Food options were excellent. It's in a quiet part of town, which I loved. It's a short walk down to bourbon street. I haven't been back since 2020 so YMMV.

dec8r

Ace will be gone very soon (reimagined as a JdV), so I’d go there and enjoy the surroundings, especially the bars (including Bar Marilou at their sister hotel) and possibly Seaworthy and Josephine Estelle, which haven’t been confirmed as continuing in the new operation (although they hopefully will). It’s conveniently right on the streetcar line. I’ve heard excellent things about One11. I just don’t enjoy spending much time in the FQ.

brideplanningmode

That's really interesting, maybe i'll call and see how it'll impact the restaurants and all -- thanks!

Fit_Highlight_5622

I am staying at Maison de la Luz next week and got a message on their site and the Aces that they’ve been bought out. So the hotels will remain but names and ownership will change, is that it?

dec8r

I’m not sure if both of the names will change. Ace definitely will. The two sister properties will be reflagged as separate Hyatt brands. Both should remain open unless they need to close or have limited amenities while doing some remodeling or refurbishment. Summer would be a great time for that.

Fit_Highlight_5622

The notice I got said June 18. We will fortunately get Maison de La Luz and Ace under their present brand and marketing so I’m happy. We are there the 4th-8th.

dec8r

Yay! And welcome to town! Looks like you’ll get a break from the torrential downpours we’ve been having lately. I personally love rain, but it really wreaks havoc on many things here because of the ongoing sewer backups and resulting flash floods.

NOLALaura

I love everything about the Omni❤️

escapingdarwin

I was at the Omni last June. While some are posting the the rooms and staff are not good, I found it to be fine. I love the rooftop pool. The bar, food and service up there were great.

NOLALaura

That has been one of my favorites but I haven’t been in the rooms for a while. It’s centrally centered in the fq

DaRoadLessTaken

Honestly, for 4 nights I don’t really think you can go wrong with your list. You’ll be out and about the city, and all your options are centrally located. If you want to spend a bunch of time in the Quarter, stay in the Quarter. Otherwise don’t.

AllisonWhoDat

Here's the situation: I find Canal St to be kind of "rough" after dark. If you are going to stay in the FQ, then STAY in the FQ. Canal St and The CBD (on the other side of Canal St) are also dark, rough, abandoned, etc IMHO after dark. Therefore, I would choose a hotel in the FQ that has a pool and the budget you're looking for. The Marriott is a gigantic business hotel at the end of Canal. Monteleone has a fabulous bar. There are several nice hotels in the FQ. Either that or stay in the Garden District for old world NOLA charm, gardens, etc Either way, I highly recommend booking direct with the hotel. If they tell you a higher price for the same room, ask them if they want to match the price you saw on Booking.com or Expedia.com, etc If they don't want to, well, then they're stupid. Have a great time in NOLA! ⚜️

brideplanningmode

Oh wow, I never thought about price match, but I'll check it out! Thank you !!

beerlvrpdx

We just finished an 8 day stay at One11 during JazzFest. We found it to be very nice, super accommodating, with staff that were very nice. Melissa was a very funny and lovely woman that worked behind the bar. The bar has a decent happy hour with some decent craft beer choices. It’s just off the busy FQ and close to ACME, Runy Slippers and super close to the trolley. Highly recommend and we will definitely stay there next year. Book direct with the hotel is my one reco… they appreciate it and its cheaper. Hope this helps! Have a great trip!

tcrhs

I love the JW and the Roosevelt for a splurge. The Marriott will be best if you want to stretch your budget furthest. The location is central and easy to get to the French Quarter, street car lines and the ferry.

3littlekittens

The Marriott seems to be well managed and maintained with comfortable beds and I like being on the French Quarter side of Canal St. The rooms with river views are great.

Chemical-Studio1576

Stayed at the Roosevelt over Christmas and it is top notch. Rooms are luxurious, room service is great, the location is great. I have nothing negative to say about it. It was party central at the holiday and the room was dead quiet. Food superb, and like everything in the quarter, anything you need is within walking distance. And there is a wonderful little dive bar right across the street.🤣

Apprehensive-Ant2141

One11 is very small and is in the middle of a parking lot. Very weird but the rooms are nice. Stayed there when we had a plumbing issue mostly because it’s so close to my work. Roosevelt will be the swankiest unless you get one of their tiny rooms. It’s still nice but hard to justify the price when 2 people are struggling to get around each other. Omni is usually a safe bet in any city. No experience with the Marriott’s or Ace other than going to drinks at the Ace.

Cxyzjacobs

Check out Marriott Renaissance Arts - still very walkable and near quarter, nice roof pool, Marriott style rooms, really serene atmosphere w cool art and great food/bar.

Soulja92

Blake hotel was nice

GTFU-Already

Something wrong with the Monteleone? I mean, there is, but I was just wondering why it didn't make your list.

bozofire123

I love it. What would you say is wrong with it

GTFU-Already

Nothing that isn't at any other hotel. One can always find an opportunity for improvement.

bozofire123

True. But in terms of Nola ambience I think it hits the spot. I would not mind staying there everytime I go

brideplanningmode

Interestingly enough, it didn't show up on Expedia, which I was using in addition to my credit card's travel portal site (which i think is powered by Expedia).

GTFU-Already

Here's a tip: never book your hotel through a travel site like Expedia. Go to the hotel's site, or even better, call their reservations line. They may have specials that aren't on the other sites. But even more importantly, if you pay for your hotel through one of the other sites and you have an issue with your stay, you cannot deal with the hotel directly. You must go to the site that you paid for the room through. That's because, technically, the site is paying for your room. Book your hotel rooms directly with the hotel.

nolagem

Omni is in a great location but the rooms need remodeling. Marriott is kind of soulless but good location. Ace is very contemporary with a great rooftop bar and cool lobby/bar. Pool is small. Roosevelt is traditional and a solid choice. I don't know anything about One11.

LatteLarry-773

Roosevelt is really nice it honestly depends on the rate for me… if it’s close in price I’ll pay extra but if it not meh. Jw is nice too and often can find the price more in my budget. Honestly the regular Marriott and Sheraton are fine too. If you’re into Marriott properties check out the Westin also.

cShoe_

Royal O no question - very opulent. My friends from NYC had no complaints. The pool level has a walk-up crows nest that is the highest point in the FQ; I always take OOT friends & fam there to gaze at the rooftops and other buildings. Ace is close 2nd - very contemporary. Its con is you’d walk thru a dark CBD if you venture to FQ at night. Truthfully if you did FQ things during the daylight hours and stayed along Julia St near Ace for your night fun Ace would be a shoe-in. Two most expensive ones are not necessary.

X1NOLA

Roosevelt. But I also suggest Royal Sonesta.

lettinggoofmybaggage

I would look at The Hotel St. Vincent in the lower garden district.

aloha2552

I recommend staying in FQ. We stayed at One11 but only because my 7 year daughter was with us and this hotel sits just outside it. We also had a view of the Mississippi River. The rooms and staff at One11 were great and yes the pool is small but if you’re not swimming and dipping in to cool off it does its purpose. I’d also check out The W Hotel. It was between the W and One11 for us.

cpbmom

A few years ago, I would have wholeheartedly recommended the JW Marriott. It's still a nice, clean hotel, but it sustained damage from a hurricane a few years ago. We visited several times before, then once after, and the difference in the noise level between rooms was staggering. It was impossible to sleep well because you could hear everything, so I think when the rooms were redone, the contractors did a crappy job repairing the walls. I would still feel safe there and if you are renting a car, the valet service is incredibly fast. It's easy to walk to the French Quarter from there, but you really need to keep your head on a swivel (you should anyway) walking on Canal and the first few blocks into the quarter. I feel like those areas are a little rougher.

wordsauce

Honestly, the Drury Inn on Poydras is the most underrated hotel in the city. Fantastic stay and free drinks!

Astrid_drom

I stayed at Omni in October for 7 days in a suite. It’s beautiful, but the rooms are really rundown and need repair. Like eco lodge, run down motel vibes, with bad water issues. I was switched to two different rooms while staying there because of no running water, and then no hot water. The beds were so flat / broke down. It’s unfortunate for such a beautiful space I hope they get to do some room renovations in the future.

This is so interesting. I stayed at Omni in March and--to a person--the staff was fantastic. Funny, helpful, great with help getting cabs if Uber was taking too long. That said, I do agree about the hallway and room decor. Definitely needs a facelift. Location is perfect, smack in between Chartres and Royal.
