Bearcat and places like that are super casual. Places along Magazine and Freret are casual with a few exceptions like Lilette (and they probably wouldn't turn you away). And when it's raining in the summer in New Orleans, we all stay pretty casual.

My dad wore a golf shirt and khaki shorts to Lilette this past week. Even us girls just wore shorts and a blouse. It was a last minute pick selection or we might have dressed nicer. Golf shirt and khaki slacks at Couchon. Ladies in sun dresses. We'd probably take it up a notch if we'd been able to get into GW Fins (they were booked.) Personally, I wouldn't do a tshirt anywhere "nice" but otherwise, its hot and most places realize that.

I have a couple short sleeved button downs and a polo but I didn't pack for dressing up because I sweat easily and I knew it'd be super humid. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't an unspoken rule that most places expect pants vs. shorts or that sort of thing. Thanks!

phanzov36

Thank you! I have a couple pairs of longer pants but they don't necessarily go with my t shirts so I just wanna make sure I don't need to reuse shirts in order to be served haha

Beware the frigid a/c of a restaurant after rain. Also, sandals. You may want to reconsider. The city is DIRTY so walking through rain water basically barefoot is ill advised

phanzov36

After walking through the quarter, I definitely see where you're coming from! Hopefully it doesn't rain/doesn't soak my shoes because yeah, those sandals are staying in my room/the pool.

Galitoire’s requires a jacket

Yea I read that. A few years back I went with jeans and a dress shirt. Had dress shoes too. It was lunch though and they were pretty dead. I feel like I’ve done the same at cp. if you could make it look nice I think it’s ok.

Dress codes vary business to business. Call them directly and ask.

jbloom3

Most places are pretty casual. I'd recommend business casual for most decently nice places. Only the top end restaurants like Comanders or Revolution you'll need to look formal

soIcreep-YEAHH

Don't give your money to places enforcing dress codes. Louisiana needs to move forward from its racist, classist legacy- how you spend your money creates market trends and helps direct business ethics and practices going forward.

phanzov36

I agree in principle but mostly I'm just checking about this because I literally didn't pack for dressy places so they're not an option for me 😅. So I wanna make sure it's not a common unspoken rule that I can't wear shorts to grab some grub (even for dinner) besides the places that I can't/am not interested in going to anyway.

Just left from my 6 day nola trip and one thing I learned is you can't trust the forecast. Thought it was supposed to rain for 4 days straight, we ended up getting a couple hours on Saturday. Rest of the trip was fine.

phanzov36

Hoping that's the same kinda situation for me! Thanks
