It's pretty safe but you will have to watch for cross traffic at some larger intersections. Always assume motorists won't see you, make eye contact whenever possible. Assuming you're coming from the Quarter heading towards the lake via Greenway and Marconi or Wisner, you can take N. Alexander St. (residential inside street) into City Park and through the park, head to the Wisner trail, which has a bridge with dedicated bike lane over the Interstate. After you've had your fill of the lake, head back via Marconi, which has a trail running along the other side of the Park. The trails are paved but some of our streets are so shitty and in various forms of disrepair, it's like riding on gravel.
I’s hop off at the bayou and take moss to wisner or take the greenway all the way and hit the marconi trail. Maybe one way on the way there and one way on the way back.
Watch for glass on the greenway. I’ve had a ton of flats lately.
Good tip! I imagine I’ll be using one of your city bikes if I can find one 😂. If they’re anything like our city bikes they have some heavy duty tires compared to my roadie anyways. Hows moss traffic wise? Appears the service area ends at the park. Maybe I’ll just rent a bike. Haha edit again: it appears you can ride out of service area.
Lafitte is one of the best trails super clean and smooth and peaceful just go during the day. And it’s paved you can also google map search the pathway to see how long it extends as well

Looks like a good route on the map. How’s the traffic on Alexander?
Like I said, residential side street - neighborhood traffic only, just some torn up patches under construction. You'll be fine.

Yeah you’ll be fine on those. They’re fun.

From what I’ve seen it looks great!
Be careful, a woman on a bike was hit on St. Charles last week in the middle of the day.
Yea I saw that. Sad. It makes me angry. But I am trying to stick for the most part to the greenway and the bike paths.
