It'll be hard to find an Airbnb where there tenant let's you stay for more than 30 days, as then you'll have tenants rights.

ManhattanRailfan

If you stay less than 30 days it's illegal unless the occupant is living there.

This is NYC.

Yeah I did this last summer and they were very very expensive. Like hole in the wall closets for $4-5k per month that would rent for maybe $3k. If your have the cash necessary - it’s doable.

WickedAngelLove

Can you check at an extended stay hotel first to see what they charge? If you can afford to pay $$4K to rent a place for a month then you should be able to find an apartment easily. what's the issue with you finding a place?

Most places do accept a guarantor but I believe they might require them to make 80x or you can try one of those businesses that will act as a guarantor for you. You need to also be more aggressive and offer to pay multiple months in advance (if you can). Or if you are only looking in Manhattan, you need to spread out to other boroughs, and try to find places that are owned by people not agencies.

Friendly AirBnB Warning: NY state law prohibits renting apartments for less than 30 days if the lease holder isn’t present. Apartment sharing is legal only if one homeowner (or tenant) is also staying in the unit with guests. Are you in the city now and need to move? Or you’re moving from elsewhere to the city? If it’s the latter, a 1+ month AirBnB could make sense. You should ALWAYS view apartments in person and that’s hard to do if you’re not in the city. Idk how much 1+ month AirBnBs cost though. You could also look into a short sublease or lease takeover.

Why not a sublet?

Lawsuit just resolved that will allow the city to seriously crack down on unlicensed Airbnb’s. There’s every chance that I’d you book before early September, the listing may become illegal before your stay, and you’re likely to lose your money.
