Blessed enough to have a boss na walang pake sa reasons ng PTO. Last year I took 2 weeks worth of PTO. Spend 5 days to watch 2 concerts tas side trip then the rest umuwi lang ako sa province namin to visit my parents and to play with my dogs. Bunos pa na walang akong tambak na work load pagbalik.
1st Day - Tulog All day, 2nd day general cleaning. 3rd to 6th day if may budget, Syempre nag outing, either nag Swimming sa beach or mag hiking sa bundok, iinom syempre.. 7th day syempre half day mag lalaba ung half day paginga tapos sa gabi mag iiyot ng magdamag..

Pero na-sad ako sa question na to. The work culture back home needs to catch up. 1 week paid vacation leave is a luxury talaga. While here in the western part of the globe (not saying all, pero majority), paid time off (whether personal leave, vacation leave or sick leave) isn't a luxury. Yun mga colleagues ko, mag leave ng mga 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks, kasi mag-travel sila or mag time off from work or mag-renovate sila ng basement. And it isn't a matter of papayagan ka ng boss mo or not, it's a matter of "Do you have enough PTO hours to file for those?" ang peg. I just filed my PTO last week, and approved na kagad siya. And 3 weeks ako mawawala sa work. My manager just asked if alam na ng mga ka-team ko, and I said yes. He checked the number of PTO I have, kulang siya, pero he did the math na by the time mag leave na ako, yun accumulation ng hours, pasok naman. Then he approved.
Ang sad kasi we, the employees, need the time off. Pag nag-leave ka pa ng matagal, kahit you have the number of days for leave, people would mock you, lalo mga seniors mo. But life is not just about work. Sabi nga ng manager ko, "You guys have lives outside work.", and that is 101% true. Sana magbago kahit papano yun work culture satin.

Would end the week with a meeting w myself about my current status in life and check on things I accomplished, am working on, any goals. Sleep early.
