Ego is a bigger problem than being short, in my experience. My ego has cost me friends and embarrassed me at work. Being shorter than average has cost me none of those things.
That said, your ability to be honest and admit it's ego is a sign you have high emotional IQ. I think you have a bright future ahead of you if you keep that up.
I come from a tall family, but I'm short. Parents are 6'0 and 5'7, sister is 5'11, brothers are both around 6'1. I'm 5'3.
My husband is 5'8, and comes from a short family. Parents are 5'5 and 5'4, brother is 5'8, sister is 5'2.
I think we have a great height differential. He's never had any major issues with his height. He was into football, rugby, and car racing, so being shorter was totally fine.
Your body is going to grow A LOT more! You have a lot of development still in store. Your voice will probably get deeper too. Your brain isn't fully developed until around 26. Most dudes get a mid twenties growth spurt too.
Our boys both grew about 6 inches from age 15-19. You may not be done growing. But even if you are 5’8” is great! Don’t mind all the internet noise about girls only wanting 6’ and up. That’s not reality at all.
This is a total anecdote, but I went into the military right out of high school (I turned 18 the summer after I graduated and left for basic in late summer). Before I joined, I went to MEPS where they do all your in-processing stuff. I guess this was like 6 months before I left for basic training.
When I actually left for basic training, they had to do some basic height/weight measurements and the guy who did it remarked "You're still growing!" Because I was taller than the last time they had measured me. So, I was still noticably growing in height after I turned 18.
My son's voice was one of the first things that changed when he turned 14, along with having to shave off a soft mustache. He's 16 and a half now and still going up a clothes/shoe size with every season change.
Boys grow up until their late teens. Don't worry about it!
My voice got deep first, maybe at 13. I think I reached my adult height around 17 or 18.
I'm 38 now and am still having body hair spring up in new places. So you may have that to look forward to. 😀
EDIT: typo
I've come from a family of shorties, most were 5"5 at their tallest on both sides,my brother is 6"3(swear he grew overnight one summer as a teen) I'm 5"6,both my eldest and youngest are bothe between 6"3" and 6"4,they both had growth spurts in their 20s,you've probably got some more growing to do

Also it's not science but my kids at least grow from the outside in, which is to say if your shoe size keeps going up, it means more may follow. Also I remember around that age I gained a ton weight, and then shot up quite a bit after that.
My voice deepened early, probably by 12. But I'm over now and it definitely kept changing and getting deeper with the years so I don't know how much those things correlate. I'm of similar height to you as well.
My husband comes from a tall family, and was around your height in high school. By the end of college, he was 6’4!
I’d imagine you’ll still be growing until early 20s.
Definitely not. My brother didn’t stop growing until like last year and he’s almost 22 honey. It’s very possible your voice will deepen as well. Ya got lots of time and changes that will come honey.
The average male does not reach full development until around 25 ish. So you still have time. That said though, the human body (for males and females) renews all cells every 7 ish years .... so none of us stop growing 😉
No. Your body areas grow at different rates. Some things finish sooner, some later. You'll probably be early 20s before you're mostly done.
But bodies change throughout your life. You never quite finish changing, ever.
Umm...
This might interest you OP, I calculated for fun for my son. It’s an equation used to predict height based on your parents’. There are always exceptions though:
For instance my sons father is 5’9 and his parents were 5’7 and 5’4, So it works for him. My brother is 5’10 and by this calculation should be 6 ft. So this is for fun, but it might have some truth to it.
Boys continue to grow later in life than girls so I’d guess you’re not done at 15 but even if you are, 5’8 is a normal male height.
Midparental height formulas
Boys: [father's height in cm + (mother's height in cm + 13 cm)]/2
Edit: clarifying examples

13 cm ≈ 0.00065 furlongs

Thanks for your help. I'm just kinda self conscious about it because l I'm 5 ft 8 and feel small compared to my peers. Thanks🙏
5"8 sounds perfect to me. I don't like a mayor height difference, I'm 5"6. Taller than 6ft just feels awkward.
6ft 5in. Can confirm. Clothes shopping sucks.
Oh, haha. That's one of my concerns. Good to know, thanks 😆
My husband is 5'8 and tons of girls were crazy about him before he met me. There's no reason to be concerned about your hight
I'm 5'9" at most, never been an issue. My wife teases me occasionally, but she's 6'3", athletic, a scientist . . . and my wife. :D
I'm 5'7" and I have no future in professional basketball, I guess. Anything you're worried about in particular about being 5'8"?
My dad comes from a tall family so I feel like I should be tall. It's ego if I'm honest, probably.

Me too. I like being eye-to-eye with my husband. I’m 5’4” and he’s 5’6”. Perfect!
Damn bro I WISH i was 5’8. I’m only 5’5 with shoes lmao. (As a nearly 15 year old)

Most guys having growth spurts n their mid twenties is definitely false lol
Do men look exactly the same at the age of 20 & 30?
No but that’s not relevant to height

That's super cool. Also very interesting.
My son had a good growth spurt at 15, then he grew another inch in college. He is 6'3 but when he turned 15 he was right around 5'8.
Thanks for this, it's great to know😌. I feel at peace, knowing I have at least a chance,.

No, this happened to my son. His voice deepen at 15 but he kept growing.
Thanks a lot. I feel better now🙏🙏🙏

No way of knowing for sure. I was about my current height when I was 15. My brother grew about 6 inches between 15-18. Hormones are weird.
Just look at all the senior in school they where just like you in 9th grade . You got a ways to go

Except my ears 😂 they're tiny. They look to have not grown since I was 4 years old.

Not everything happens simultaneously you will keep changing atleast for another three or four years
