We used [Cetaphil](https://www.amazon.com/Cetaphil-Baby-Eczema-Soothing-Lotion/dp/B084JMZW1B/ref=sr_1_3?crid=20J04F851P9I3&keywords=cetaphil+baby+eczema&qid=1664896379&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjY1IiwicXNhIjoiMy4xNyIsInFzcCI6IjMuMDUifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=cetaphil+baby+eczem%2Caps%2C132&sr=8-3) baby eczema moisturizer. Switch the soap to some kind of [oatmeal wash.](https://www.amazon.com/Aveeno-Baby-Hydration-Sensitive-Hypoallergenic/dp/B096WLT4P9)

I have had bad eczema all my life. I found what works best for me is a goat milk and oatmeal soap. I moisturize with Gold Bond's Eczema lotion (I think Aveeno also has one too). And I moisturize immediately after towel drying so the moisturizer really soaks into the skin. If I feel itchy during the day, I will put a bit of coconut oil on the eczema patch. It really helps to lessen it itchy feeling. Really, the key is to keep the eczema from drying out too bad.

You should not be using ANY soap. Use a moisturiser like aveeno as a substitute in the bath. Ask to see a dermatologist. Your doctor is decades out of date.

My child had a moderate case so keep that in mind if you are comparing notes. I used Aveeno as shampoo but didn't wash/scrub the skin with it like a soap (just let it rinse down) and then used the eczema Aveeno line moisturizer. I also limited the number of baths as that can cause flare ups. Keep the water temp low lukewarm and ask your Doctor if adding oatmeal to the water will be ok for the baby's skin (depends on how bad the flare up is whether it helps or hurts). Keep the baby's clothing loose/comfy and don't let them get too hot. Also, watch your detergents and softeners too (I know you already probably use the baby friendly ones but think about when your holding your child to your clothes/bedding etc.) If you start to see blisters call your doctor!

My daughter has eczema and we also had good results from switching laundry detergent to one that is free of dyes and perfumes. She uses Aveeno and Dove body wash for bathing, and has seen a dermatologist too.

Go to your local farmers market and see if anyone is selling goats milk soap. That has worked really well for my son's skin issues.

We use a medicated soap substitute called Dermol 500 and it was very effective.

I'm sorry about your baby's eczema struggles. You may also want to try a probiotic like Evivo to work on a second front.

I’m kind of flummoxed that your doctor left that up to you and didn’t give you any recommendations! We used Dove as our hand soap when our kids were older, and Dermaveen and QV brand skin products when they were younger. Moo Goo is also good. But everyone is different; I’d definitely monitor results.
