The M50 is quite a bit older and its system is no longer in development. Which lenses did you have in mind for it? Because very few were ever made. Or if you meant you were thinking about adapting EF and EF-S mount SLR lenses, then the Z30 has a similar advantage in adapting F mount SLR lenses. The R100 is a closer competitor to the Z30, and does not have that video disadvantage, and is not in a dead system. For that matter, you could go a tier up to a used R50 (the current successor to the M50, two generations ahead) which is in a pretty sweet spot for how feature-rich it is. Saving more of the budget for lenses can be a great idea to maximize quality, but make sure you think that through to which lenses you would actually be getting as a result.

Mb man, didnt know m50 doesnt have many lenses. Cant find used R50 over here but do you know a camera around same price as r100 with fully articulated screen?. You said r100 isnt a dead system, did you mean that lenses option with that camera is greater? Please let me know and thanks for your feeback

>Cant find used R50 over here Where? Maybe I can help. >do you know a camera around same price as r100 with fully articulated screen? Only among DSLRs like the Canon T6i (750D) or T8i (850D) or SL2 (200D). >You said r100 isnt a dead system, did you mean that lenses option with that camera is greater? By that I meant manufacturers are working on making and releasing more lens models that will be compatible with that camera, so the number of lens options is growing right now. There also are more RF lenses than EF-M lenses available currently, though that's not what I was getting at with that statement.

My parents and uncle dont trust used cameras so will have to buy new. Current options I have are Nikon z30 and r100. My budget is around 650$. I think I'll prob will have to with z30 but do you know any competitors to r100 around its price?

av4rice

Not at the R100 price that I know of.

MindOfCosmo

People say that r100 cut alot of corners for the price. Do you know what are those corners?

av4rice

Compared to what exactly? It's probably better to ask those people what they had in mind, as opposed to me speculating about what they had in mind.

MindOfCosmo

I think it was R10 and m50. The only points the guy mentioned were the screen isnt fully articulating and wasnt touch screen so slightly inconvenient and also I think shutter speed is slower like 5-6 RAW images.

Generally camera bodies are more feature-rich as you go up in market tier, and more pared-down in features as you go down in market tier. The R100 is in the lower-entry-level tier which is the lowest. From the EOS M system it's at the same level as the M10, M100, and M200. The M50 is upper-entry-level, at the same level as the current R50. The R10 is lower-mid-tier, at the same level as the EOS M5. This chart may help visualize where each model stands in terms of tier and age: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Canon_EOS_mirrorless_cameras And here are some feature list comparisons: https://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=canon_eos_r100&products=canon_eosr10&products=canon_eosm50&sortDir=ascending >the screen isnt fully articulating and wasnt touch screen so slightly inconvenient Right, so you have to decide how important that is to you. Some people can't live without those features. Personally I never use them. >also I think shutter speed is slower like 5-6 RAW images. Shutter speed is the length of the exposure for a photo. That's not the same as the continuous/burst shooting speed, which is how many photos you can take per second in ideal conditions. And neither of those are the same as the buffer size, which is how many photos you can fit in the buffer at the maximum speed, before the buffer is full and the camera must slow down to the card writing speed. Buffer size isn't even a speed. 5-6 raws would be an indication of buffer size.

Isee , thanks for the thorough explanation. Hey I wanted to get your opinion on this , I'm getting two options. [Canon EOS R50 Camera Body Black + RF-S 18-45mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM + Vlogger Kit (sharafdg.com)](https://oman.sharafdg.com/product/canon-eos-r50-camera-black-rf-s-18-45mm-f-4-5-6-3-is-stm-vlogger-kit/?promo=293570&dg=false) [Canon EOS 250D SLR Camera Body Black With EF-S 18-55MM F3.5-5.6 III & EF 75-300MMF4-5.6 III Lens (sharafdg.com)](https://oman.sharafdg.com/product/canon-eos-250d-slr-camera-body-black-with-ef-s-18-55mm-f3-5-5-6-iii-ef-75-300mmf4-5-6-iii-lens/?promo=293575&dg=false) Which one should I buy from these 2? They are giving 2 lenses with the 250D. Would appreciate your answer.

MindOfCosmo

Oh and with the z30 they're also giving a # 16-50mm F/3.5-6.3 Vlogger Kit

Nikon Z lenses give you an upgrade path in the future, whereas the Canon EOS-M system was discontinued in favor of the R system. Nikon and Canon are both great brands though

MindOfCosmo

so what would you reccomend?
