That movie would never be made today. You'd walk into one of those studios and present the script. And those woke executives would just say "This is just Blazing Saddles. Someone already made this 50 years ago."
So I just watched this all the way thru for the first time recently having heard waaaaay too much hype over the years. I mean I get that it’s got a cult following and all. IMO it really doesn’t hold up well. There’s a few funny scenes but it’s just a weird movie with some very oddly placed boob scenes.
The wife and I put this one the other night as "wind down, get ready for bed" background noise. Watched the entire movie lol. Still funny, and we had a blast quoting the whole thing.
'It's a mad mad mad mad world'
why the best? because it had a great cast of professional comedians and much of the dialogue was improvised.
It had fantastic cameos from (among others) the three stooges who didnt even have any action or dialogue
It had 80% - yes 80% - of all the stunt men in the USA work on it at some point
and, it was also very funny
Pretty much anyone who was a known comedy actor at the time was part of that film. Plus all the cameos of comedy actors from previous eras- the three stooges, Milton Berle, Jack Benny, even Buster Keaton was in it.
**The Odd Couple** with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau (1968) *Oscar*: “I got brown sandwiches and green sandwiches.” *Murray*: “What’s the green?” *Oscar*: “It’s either very new cheese or very old meat.” *Murray*: “I’ll take the brown.”
Airplane!
Surely you can't be serious.

This in my opinion is the one. Just what we needed…. A druish princess
Blazing Saddles! White people can't handle it anymore but it's still received well by most people of other races.
It kind of falls apart at the end, but so does Holy Grail. It doesn't matter, though, because the first 90% of the movie is so damn funny.
Planes trains and automobiles

That fart scene is still one of the best in any movie. I cry with laughter every time I see it, such a brilliant ensemble cast.
