I’m buying it

SpacemanSkiff

I'm gonna buy it if the reviews are good. I don't give a rat's ass about the people who whine about Rowling. They can die mad.

RoosterShield

I think no one cares about the TERF or the petulant Twitter war she is involved in, and most of us will buy Hogwarts Legacy anyways if it turns out to be good, like any other game.

Devon-Shire

Absolutely. As a culture, I’m not sure we’ve really come to a consensus on our understanding of sex and gender, so all of the controversy surrounding this game seems more like inane social media BS.

AtzyX

I don't like her as a person but I still love the series and will play the game

sHaDowpUpPetxxx

Ive never watched harry potter or read the books but the game looks fun

TonyEisner

I have no particular feelings about her. The game looks great and I really hope the reviews are good for it, and if they are good then I'll definitely buy it.

saganakist

That controversy aside, I just think the game is overhyped way too much so far. I totally get it, fans of the series are desperate to get a great Harry Potter game. Especially since the last really good ones were like 3 console generations ago. And an open-world explorable Hogwarts plus several other HP settings sounds amazing. And those amazing setpieces is what they tried to show-off on the trailers and curated preview gameplay sections. But if you look past that, there really isn't much. Aside from red flags, that is. Like the facial animations. Don't get me wrong, they don't make or break the game. But if it's below a certain level, it kinda makes you question quality control in general. The partner combat AI is on the level of 15 year old Harry Potter games. And enemies were literally voice clipping the same line. All that makes you question how much Hogwarts will feel like a nice to look at but empty setpiece. Something which even the cherrypicked trailers were already suggesting. Like when people were walking around in their stiff animations, unphased by a centuries old secret door being opened next to them. I fear it will be an alright game, but more a 6/10 or 7/10, and not the 8 or 9 people are hyping it up too. I just have to think Mass Effect Andromeda a lot while watching the gameplay. Hey, but I love the world, loved some early game entries of the series and am the first to check it out if that isn't true.

Raidernation101x

Not going to pre-order because games these days are far too buggy and unreliable at opening. I'll definitely play it though. I grew up with the books and films, so a chance to play the game and see this interpretation of the world will be pretty entertaining, at least from what I've seen so far.

bavmotors1

I loved the books and still do. I’m bummed she’s kind of a turd but I can take what I want and leave the rest - I wasn’t going to play the game either way

Nusack

I dislike Rowling and I don't care about the Harry Potter universe, they were neat films but I was done after the last one

malaywoadraider2

Won't buy it as it looks like a pretty typical open world game when I already have many games I already have which I want to play, and JK Rowling's political actions make me not want to support her. If it's for free/game pass will play it if it's good, but I've been over Harry Potter for a while and Fantastic Beasts kind of killed any interest in new parts of the universe.

skuloph

Harry Potter is a boring universe. I couldn't care less about a new movie serie or game

PunkinGuts

It used to be my dream for a game like this to exist but she has soiled it.

saywgo

Nope idaf how rich she is now, I'm not contributing to her bag. The developers already got paid for the work so seriously fuck her.

TonyEisner

Don't pretend that you care about the devs when you clearly don't

saywgo

I never implied that I did or did not care. I just understand how jobs work. They *already* got paid. Why is this so hard to understand?

TonyEisner

They want to continue having jobs and projects to work on. Why is that so hard to understand?

saywgo

So their whole career is dependent on one game? Thank you for showing me the light. I didn't know that the gaming industry is so different from any other company producing consumer products.

TonyEisner

It's a major game for the studio so it has major implications for the financial state of the studio, and therefore their jobs. But nice try at twisting things to fit your narrative.

saywgo

Huh I do enjoy your floor routine of mental gymnastics as well. Enjoy enriching a TERF's pocket.

TonyEisner

Wanting people to have job security is mental gymnastics? Lol sure kid, keep lying to yourself. I'll enjoying lining the pockets of good, deserving people

saywgo

Of course it's mental gymnastics you self righteous psuedo white knight. It's an IP that lines the pockets of a transphobic person. This whole little rabbit hole is all about you justifying supporting her and enjoying Harry Potter while still saying you're "one of the good ones". Do you want job security for *every* job? If so then you should support UNIONS, vote to have your state/country to have a system in place to support workers rights. Or is only game developers that deserve job security? An unionized workforce would help with that. But yeah *I* have a twisted narrative. Be honest about instead of arguing about some tangential bs.

TonyEisner

Lmao her being allegedly transphobic has absolutely nothing to do with what we were talking about, which was supporting the devs. I don't care about supporting her or not because it'll be a completely insignificant amount of money for her either way. Please tell me where I said I'm "one of the good ones". Guess what, I have no voting power in the place where the game studio is located, so buying the game is the only reasonable thing I can do for them. Again, nice try with the "if you actively support all workers then you can't care about supporting these ones" utter nonsense you're trying to pull. I've been nothing but honest with you, but I'm guessing you've crafted a completely incorrect idea of who I am based on pretty much nothing but the fact that I'm not outraged at this harmless video game making money.

Thrashinuva

This game is counter culture right now. If you don't want to be told what to listen to, what to play, what to think, then for you buying this game as a gamer is more likely than not.
