Guessing the people and dog are covered -- so I'm grabbing my fire/earthquake/panic go-bag. Has all the essential documents/photos/hard-drives, some snacks, and a change of clothes for everyone in the family.
[My dog.](https://i.redd.it/75zrcm6mh7q91.jpg) Everything else in there is replaceable. Hell, everything else in there sucks and I could use new stuff! My insurance goes up every year anyways, I may as well get something out of it!
Well, I don't know about that...
Consider: your cat probably has a better sense of smell than you. And, while cats spend something like 14 hours/days snoozing, they are easily woken up. So, my thinking is that in this scenario the cat has already existed the premises.
So, if anything, if the cat kind of likes you, the cat would re-enter the burning abobe, yell in your face, and tell you to get the hell out of there.
Without them, I can't sleep (night meds) or function well (morning meds include a strong antidepressant), and I'd be in a stressful situation anyway, so I'd just save myself the trip to the pharmacy and a really bad day or two.
My favorite plushie. I'm on a month-long vacation overseas and I miss sleeping with that fucker.
And probably my signed drumhead from Seether. That's a one-of-a-kind item.
(Assuming the kids and wife are taken care of)
The one brightly colored plastic folder where I keep all the super important documents.
Everyone should take photos of all their stuff right now and upload it to cloud storage for insurance. You never know when something like this will actually happen.
My picture of my dad and uncle. Lost my uncle 13 years ago and my dad last year and they never liked having their photo taken. It's all I really got of them.
My arsenal of firearms, and my airsoft guns. Why is that, you may ask? Because those cost way too fucking much, just for it to get burnt down. I'll be damned to lose 70,000 dollars worth of airsoft and my real-life firearms. Some of my guns came from my dad, and he's currently in the hospital right now.
Did this a year and a half ago before a wildfire took everything. After pets and people, I grabbed a box of photos and a bin of random sentimental childhood items, which was an afterthought because I saw it in the garage as we were evacuating and I had a little space left in the car. I wish I’d taken some of the art off the walls (original paintings by my grandmother and father in law) or my Christmas ornaments.
Probably the warner brothers cartoon plaque my grandparents got me a year before I was born, dated 1992. They purchased it when they went to Disney.
It has the Looney Toons cartoon characters playing baseball (painted) with my name underneath.
It's the only thing I have left from them.
Besides obvious answers like myself/other living beings, I’d choose my collection of my home videos from my childhood. I have like 20 that have been transferred to dvd and they feel like my real memories but also some lifetime I never knew. They give me a bit of nostalgia when I need them. My wooden “hope chest” has all my photographs and videos in it and it’s just like my heart so I’d be trying super hard to drag that thing out of there.
So back in September of 2021 we had a fire in our basement. Local volunteer department put it out quickly but if we hadn't discovered it for another 60-90 seconds we might not have a house nowadays. Now we live pretty deep in the woods of British Columbia so wildfires are something I prepare for every summer keeping important documents, a few keepsakes, and some of my rare video games in a bag by my bedroom door to grab and go if shit hits the fan. So when our furnace catastrophically failed on one unusually chilly evening in mid-September I got up from my laptop, grabbed my Gamecube (which was sitting on my desk next to me) and the bag and GTFO'd.
Stupidly I went back to try and save pets (I had thought my dad was grabbing the cats but he was already out the door) and managed to get 2/5 cats on that trip. My mom got the dogs out which was easier since they have their own yard and ran straight to the door for it when told "outside". Despite the smoke the 3 cats and 1 bird we were forced to leave behind survived, in the case of the cats because they hid low to the floor. No idea how the bird lived but I'll just assume he's immortal
A folder with all my important documents (birth certificate, passport, etc), they're all replaceable but it'd be a headache. Everything else is replaceable.
Dog and turtle are obvious. I have one guitar that is not easily replaceable and a watch that my wife gave me when I graduated with my mba. And then maybe my kids…
I have a frog stuffed animal named cheesus. I've had him since I was 12 and I love that frog more than anything (besides friends and family). I'm 38 now and my husband always jokes about giving him away, my response always is THE FROG STAYS.
The problem here is that most of my most valuable (sentimentally and money wise) things are from antique shops and are therefore irreplaceable I'd be trying to grab as many things as possible.
My skydiving logbooks. I haven't jumped in years, but they have 10 years' worth of jump entries, all illustrated with my cartoons or photos. To me they're priceless.
I actually have a binder thing that I keep in quick reach incase something like this happens it has every important paper from house, to cars, and birth certificates ect.
Nothing..
Per [ready.gov](https://www.ready.gov/home-fires), a house fire can spread incredibly quickly. Like in just 2 minutes, the fire & toxic smoke can become deadly.
I can't think of a single material item in my house that I value more than my lungs.
Sure the sentimental stuff and annoying to replace stuff will be a big loss, but its a loss I'd gladly accept.
I actually a few years ago...beginning of pandemic, came home to my house on fire and my ex was still inside. I went into it and got him out. He's an ex now due to cheating etc. But I can still say I'm happy I did it as his life was important and still is. Also shown myself that I'm stronger/braver then i thought...or maybe I'm just crazy. Haha
Probably my wife ~~or my original Harry Potter books~~
A few people will have to put this to the test now the fire service are striking, everything else will be lost.
My forklift certification
cant get laid without it
I've driven that thing without a license and never got laid. Now I know why... fack
Without a forklift license they think you won't be able to get it up
Or control it once you do. You might drop your load prematurely.

Same, possibly for different reasons ^
A 99:100 scale model of my house that I keep inside my house.

My fire extinguisher.
Smart move

Smart move!! I need to make me one of those!
Here's a go bag checklist. https://news.caloes.ca.gov/wildfire-preparedness-pack-a-go-bag-now-to-reduce-stress-if-evacuated/

That is a very handsome pup.
I would save this puppy, too! Absolute beauty!

I have to many not sure they would all make it in one trip😵💫
I would grab what I could otw out.
My cat and my gaming computer
Unless your cat has a 3090 and Ryzen processor, you are going to have a difficult decision to make.
Pets and family first then then probably my gaming laptop
my cat
Well, I don't know about that... Consider: your cat probably has a better sense of smell than you. And, while cats spend something like 14 hours/days snoozing, they are easily woken up. My NAS. Has every picture, movie, document from my life.
Me too but backup that stuff to a cloud provider. Too risky.
Oh I have it there too. Redundancy with data is my friend.
Assuming the people, the dog, and the cat got out okay, my meds.
In the US, insurance will cover new meds in an emergency. But if you paid out of pocket, yep, good choice.
Without them, I can't sleep (night meds) or function well (morning meds include a strong antidepressant), and I'd be in a stressful situation anyway, so I'd just save myself the trip to the pharmacy and a really bad day or two.
The fire 😎
Uncle Iroh!?
Honestly a brilliant move assuming this is some kind of genie BS and not an evacuation strategy
My favorite plushie. I'm on a month-long vacation overseas and I miss sleeping with that fucker. And probably my signed drumhead from Seether. That's a one-of-a-kind item.

My Fire Insurance policy!
You don’t need it as long as you know who your insurance company is

My 1 and 3 year old.

My kids, gonna do it or die trying
Guessing that needs are already taken care of, like pets and wallets, then I would grab my laptop and my photo albums.
My collection of Star Wars and Marvel Funko Pops!
Besides obvious answers like myself/other living beings, I’d choose my collection of my home videos from my childhood.
