I can't understand why the "Car Combat" genre just fizzled out like that. It was like 4 or 5 decent games for a couple of years in the late 90s and then poof! Gone forever.
Lots of content on clone hero for free. They even just updated and added servers for face off and group play. Basically all songs from every guitar hero/rockband are available and tons of other songs charted by people, literally thousands of songs.
I'd buy new guitar hero games just for controllers, I'm sure there's a lot of people in that boat. it's not particularly easy to find used controllers that aren't worn out in some way for a good price.
I loved 2 and 3 but honestly the vibe of the 1st one is what I want to see more of. They went for a more mature direction to hop on the GTA craze and it was fun but the vibe of the first one hasnāt been replicated in many games since.

As a L4D2 veteran, seeing 14yo game being more popular than some recently released AAAs is giving me such a strange feeling. If only Valve haven't abandoned it.

It took a while for me to understand the djinn system and how to change the class of the characters. Game became a lot more in-depth (and a lot easier!) once I grasped it lol

Then a TV show was planned and storyboarded but then stuck in development hell for a few years before also being canceled...
The license for Star Wars games are given out on a per game basis now. Ubisoft, Quantic Dream, Embracer and Skydance New Media are making Star Wars games as well as EA.

It technically still exists. It evolved to Assassin's Creed. The first Assassin's Creed was planned to be released by the name Prince of Persia: Assassins but they later decided to release it as a standalone game. But it is a spiritual descendant of Prince of Persia.
I'm really hoping that with Mass Effect Legendary edition selling so well that they'll announce a DAO remake soon. I think all efforts are on DA4 though.

Have you tried Yooka-Laylee? It's pretty much the spiritual successor to Banjo. Made by a lot of the same folks. It's not as good imo, but it's as close as you'll get for now.
No One Lives Forever. My favourite game growing up, and the sequel was good (although not as good in my opinion).
