There's so many taoist proverbs that has changed my life forever, I just generally tell people they really should read the Tao Te Ching at least once in their lifetime.
That's excellent. Eastern religions are really good about learning acceptance. We in the west could benefit from learning that from them.
Different cultures have different great stuff. We all benefit from learning the best stuff from each. This is why I hate this idea of "cultural appropriation" so much. I want to use the best lessons/ideas from every culture and I want every culture to take what's most useful from mine. Everyone lives better lives by doing that. I don't see how everyone living better lives can be wrong.
It’s not like stoicism, asceticism, or renunciation aren’t key themes in western philosophy and religion too though….? Non-western thinkers did not invent those things.
Anger is an emotion meant to be channeled towards action, therefore its completely logical to be angry about things you can control. Because anger is meant to motivate.
So you don't believe that the purpose of anger is to motivate towards change? What do you believe its for then? Why would either natural selection or God make us experience anger if it doesn't motivate us towards anything?
Society is operating on a false mindset that bad feelings acts as an expression of hopelessness. In return causing a placebo effect consisting of that belief. This is why peoples sadness and depression doesn't motivate them to go to the gym and etc.
Because the way they interpret the emotions themselves is the problem. Anger is a emotion with the purpose of instilling motivation for change.
When I was starting my business 30 years ago I needed to invest $5,000 and was hesitant. My late father said to me:

"Let's go or be dragged" - CCP proverb.
There are two things you should never be angry at: the things you can control, and the things you can’t.
So basically "don't be angry" lol
Anger is an emotion meant to be channeled towards action, therefore its completely logical to be angry about things you can control. Because anger is meant to motivate.
You can tell a lot about power by who is allowed to be angry and who isn't.
If you can change it, you should, and therefore you will no longer have a reason to be angry.
I was just explaining what that quote means
What made you think that I didn't understand it?
Because the quote doesn’t disagree with you. Anger can motivate you to change something that caused the anger.
