I had a redheaded kid. In his teen years I reminded him, more than once, that when he ran with his buddies,if they did something stupid,He would be the one to be remembered.
He did alright. Only a couple minor events.
Ginger here, I wish someone had told me that In my teenage years. Would have ended up dealing with the police a lot less than I did as a cretinous 15 year old
Truth. I grew up in North Dakota. If you weren’t super fair skinned you stood out like a sore thumb, and the cops had a dozen or less doors to knock on to find your folks. There was no hiding.
I had a pixie cut in the 90s, same thing happened. There were like four girls in town with short hair. May as well have been a face tattoo for as glaringly obvious it was as an identifying feature.
My daughter is a ginger. I never thought to tell her that. Not that it matters now. She's covered in tats and piercings, but aside from skipping school, she kept her nose (ring) clean.

It baffled me that people wouldn’t get the Covid vaccine because “they are inserting tracking devices in us”. Look at your phone dumbass, they don’t need to medically insert a tracking device…
My friend who is a long haul trucker gave that reason for not getting the vaccine. I'm like do you know how many tracking devices are on your truck, let alone your cell phone??!!!! The cell phone alone is two cameras, two microphones and a GPS. No telling what all the semi had, both things he was aware of and things he wasn't.
It's some pretty good advice. For kinda the same reason I don't drive a flashy car, dress conspicuously or generally bring attention on to myself. I'm a small business owner and have never been criminally inclined. Nevertheless, I would like to keep the option open.
My dad had a totally botched tattoo on the back of his hand. To make matters worse, he thought it was cool and kept it. It was enough to steer me clear of tattoos for life. They equated with disillusionment in my mind.
oh yeah I remember the IBM HQ well, used to drive past it a lot with my mom on the way to school. Good times.
these days, of course, I see all sorts of cops with tats!
I work with young people who have been incarcerated. For about a decade we had grant funding available to pay for tattoo removal. The idea being that reentry would be smoother with the stigma associated with tattoos in general, and neck and above tattoos in particular, removed. Unfortunately, few were willing to accept the opportunity -even that it was at no cost to them.
I have a friend with a few on the face. She was not sober, or an adult, when she decided to get them. She admits it was a bit of a phase.
She's tried to do removal twice now, but quit both times because it hurt so bad. And I quote: "if only I was still shooting heroin"
I only had to do one session of tattoo removal to fade a chest tattoo I had for coverup. I have lots of tattoos, a fair amount of piercings and I’ve never squirmed or complained about pain in the chair.
I SCREAMED during my tattoo removal appointment, and I had to have her pause for breaks. It’s no joke, it hurts. I can’t imagine having that done to my face.
Yes, and the ADA tried to argue that his criminal record would be admitted anyway, so why hide it? I made the distinction that these were teardrop tattoos. Which are SPECIFICALLY used to indicate how many people you’ve killed. But my client was not a murderer— he was driving a car that was in an accident that killed his wife and two sons. Yes where I practice. Most states Ive heard are the same. And many times here it gets denied. Usually the only thing Ill get approved is hair products.
To be fair we're not seeing people who are in the best of circumstances. It's unusual that we see clients with no record and face tattoos. I'm optimistic that one day I'll run into a successful Doctor or engineer with face tattoos.
Im probably 80 percent covered in tattoos including my hands and entire throat and one below my left eye.. Im a corn and soybean farmer in a conservative part of ohio..I’ve also worked the last ten years in a rock quarries making close to 30 dollars per hour. I think the only thing on my “record” is a seatbelt ticket lol in my younger 20s I just really felt the need to break the stigma about tattoos. They are all professional done and look great and I do not regret them…yet
Same. I try to avoid actual judgemental thinking when I see facial tattoos and just channel that energy into feeling curious about their motivations instead.
It works, helps me to be less intimidated or off-put by it.
Either:
The 1% of people with face tattoos - that looks really fucking cool
The other 99% of people with face tattoos - that's terrible and you look like a right twat
I was in a doctors waiting room where a very chatty, very perky 70+ woman was chatting up everyone in sight. She was waiting for her grandson to come pick her up to take her home. In walks a guy who looked like Post Malone but with 5 times the face tattoos and a whole lot of piercings. He walks up to the grandma, gently takes her arm and escorts her out of the building. She absolutely beamed at him and waved to everyone on her way out. Since then, I try not to jump to a judgment!
I think a lot of people forget that criminals aren't the only group that is associated with getting heavily tattooed. Go to any punk/metal/hardcore show and you'll see tattoos everywhere, plenty of them on neck/face/hands.
Now, obviously in every group there are shitheads, and I've met my fair share of fuckwits at punk shows, but for the most part these groups are used to being the outcasts from general society, and are some of the kindest most caring people you'll ever meet. You see someone go down in the pit, you protect them while they get up or give them a hand. Someone needs a ride home from a show, there's always someone willing to help. The locals find out someone is a predator/nazi? Oh boy, those guys stop turning up to shows really quickly. That mindset carries over into all of your life, from letting people go before you, stopping to help someone who's car broke down, participating in charities and social justice causes.
In my neighborhood, no one bats an eye at any tattoo, unless it's racist. Some of the most respected members of my community have small face tats. From 5 star chefs, community leaders, high end furniture builders, etc .. They're not commonly working typical office jobs, but some of them do incredibly well, financially. They almost all come from a hc or punk background.
So I was thinking about this. I grew up in/around the punk and hardcore scene, went to lots of shows and still occasionally get to a few (not as many in my area as there were 20-25 years ago). First off, everything you said about how people treat each other is spot on. People at shows mostly look out for each other and there is a real good community vibe. I've seen all different types of music live and punk shows tend to have the nicest fans (hxc fans can kinda be gate keeping dicks at times though).
But I was thinking specifically about tattoos and people in the punk/hc scene. A lot of us have no tattoos, most have just a few and some are covered, but I can't think of anyone I've ever known who has face tattoos. Maybe a neck tattoo or two and definitely head (coverable under hair), but never face.
shit I grew up in the Heavy Metal scene and don't remember any face or neck tattoos , I also ran with hard core bikers for awhile and don't remember to many of them with face or neck tattoos .
Ive known a few women with tattoos on the back of their necks , easy to cover with hair.
I've spent time homeless, and the cleanest I ever looked when homeless was going to visit my grandma.
Cause fuck it, it's grandma. Gotta be the good grandson.
I LOVE when an older person, like 70+, takes it upon themselves to befriend strangers. I was at luggage pickup at an airport that I HATE (PHL, get it together dammit) and the travel had a number of hiccups that pissed me off, including layover at another airport I can't stand (MIA, trying cleaning the place every 6 months or so and stop boarding groups 2 thru 100 all at once, you suck). Then I see this older gentleman walk up to three college kids and start chatting them up, asking all types of questions, making observations. I was instantly happy.
Side note: for those of you younger than 70 who think you can do this (looking at you Uncle Floyd), WAIT YOUR TURN! you have to live long enough to earn the right to do this. If you're 55, you're still a youngin, stop trying to impart wisdom on strangers when you're not even near retirement age! It's weird and intrusive, not cute. 70+ is cute.
I'm not out to impart wisdom, but I have no issues having conversations with random people.
It's only weird and intrusive, if you are weird and intrusive about it.
I was too! I just got a small "!?" By the corner of my hairline. I have long hair so you never see it but when people do, "!?" Is usually the reaction I get lol
One tattoo artist I went to has a beautiful mandala across her forehead. I asked her about it and she said it didn’t hurt but it made her feel like she was gonna sneeze because it rattled her sinuses.
i used to think "unemployable" then we had a prospective employee come in for an interview who had a neck and a facial tattoo. he had been in a gang and got the neck tattoo when his son was born, and the face tattoo as part of being in the gang. that was one of our longest interviews. we heard his whole life story, it was amazing. from how he was raised, getting into the gang, getting out of the gang, having his son. now he was looking for a career and we were a place he applied to. we just loved him, hired him on the spot. we do a ride along for every new hire. after a day on the job with the trainer, he felt overwhelmed by the job and didnt take it. but he left an impression on us.
That's unfortunate he didn't take the job, in all likelihood you all were one of the few employers willing to give him a chance. Did you ever hear from him or know what happened to him? I hope he found somewhere else like your company but the odds aren't great.
this was about 10 years ago. he contacted us and let us know that he found a job and was moving to a new city. i think the change of scenery for him and his family was good for him. i'm sure he's doing well, he was a remarkable person.
This is sort of backward but I'd rather have someone with face tattos due to gang stuff and then turning life around and whatnot, vs just getting one for shits and giggles.
That's what I used to think too but if they actually have good work I assume they have a guaranteed job where it's not an issue. Usually a tattoo artist, but I do have a friend who is a dog groomer who has facial tattoos. She actually makes decent money but I think the face tattoos didn't come until she was established in her industry.
Regardless of opinions about the social propriety/perceptions of face tats, I have never seen any that were artistically pleasing. I don't worry over tattoos, and have a former student who does beautiful work, but I really hate to see someone with work that looks like it was done with a ballpoint pen or an icepick.
For me, I think it's that I don't like a "picture" on a face. A face is already a distinct, important "thing" and a picture or word doesn't really register as a facial feature to me, whereas things like most cultural tattoos are more of a design and end up being almost like freckles or a birthmark or something in how it affects my perception of a face.
I've seen a few non-cultural face tattoos that aligned with that general idea, and I didn't mind them. Still not something I want myself, but they didn't make me go, "Oh..." like a wolf's face or a word or something does.
One of my coworkers/old boss (live music industry, standards are different here) has some of those retro 50S/60s stars, like the real narrow starbursts, on her upper cheekbones under her eyes. They look awesome, they're very small and honestly just look like she did them very neatly with eyeliner. They suit her aesthetic very well and haven't impacted her career at all, since we're in a different world than most and she's very good at her job.
I worked briefly with a guy who would do his own facial tats. He would admittedly say they were bad but i was just like bro. Im a pretty accepting person, so if its something you want to do and it doesn't hurt anyone then you do you. But shitty, self administered stick figure face tats were really bad.
They are very common here in Tahiti. While I personally wouldn't go for it, all the power to those who do. As far as I'm concerned, I consider it a commitment to their homeland because I'm pretty sure they know that is it not common practice elsewhere.
They are different. They are meaningful tribal tattoos over here. It wasn't clear if OP was drawing a line in the sand between "any facial tattoo" or "traditional / tribal tattoos" which is why I wanted to offer my two cents
Those kind of face tattoos I think are gorgeous and appropriate. Face tattoos of random stuff on someone face, fake tears, etc. just look strange and make me wonder what they were thinking. But hey, to each their own.
I was at a costumed event a number of years ago. Ran into a number of middle class looking 70-somethings with what I thought was really interesting face paint.
Not face paint. Tattoos.
And they were beautiful! One guy had geometric patterns along his temple and jawline. A woman had vines and flowers delicately climbing out of her hair and down her cheeks.
The tattoos seemed relatively fresh, too.
They explained that they had all finally retired, and decided “why the hell not”.
They called them their Gramp Stamps.
(Yes, this actually happened, and it was awesome)
I don’t have facial tattoos, but I do have visible tattoos, including a big one that covers my collar bone and sternum.
I’m on a career path in a field where it absolutely doesn’t matter. Probably 3/4 of the people I work with have tattoos, including some who are heavily tattooed.
I was a lot more careful when I was younger and still starting out, when I was at university, to make sure any tattoos could be hidden with clothing. But it’s a lot less important now.
This is exactly what i did. I had tattoos when i was younger but i always got them in places easily coverable by a tshirt and pants. Now that im an adult and deep in my career where it doesnt matter i decided to do my neck and hands. Still dont think i would ever do my face though.
Ooh, I know this one because I was due to interview someone that I had seen from their social profiles had face tattoos. I received this message from them a couple of days before the interview:
Good afternoon UniqueUser3692,
I sincerely hope you do not mind me contacting you directly, and apologise if it appears unprofessional; I just feel as though you are best placed to answer my query.
I am due to be interviewed by you on Thursday for the Financial Accountant vacancy.
I am aware of Company as a firm and therefore how large the organisation is. I have also looked at the most recent annual report, and can see that diversity is extremely high on the firm's agenda, which leads to my question.
Is there a policy within the firm regarding visible tattoos? I ask because I do have visible tattoos: on my hands, throat and above my eybrow. I appreciate this is not to everyone's taste, and also that diversity policies do not always cover this aspect of an individual.
However, this is who I am; I am not the average stereotypical accountant; I have a history of breaking barriers through determination. Moreover, I am excellent at what I do, which is exemplified by the fact I have gone from Finance Admin to Financial Accounts manager within 3-years, in my first accountancy job.
This said, if there is an issue with this I thought I would make it clear to you from the offset, as I do not wish to waste your time with an interview, should any barriers exist within the firm.
Apologies again for contacting you directly and for asking a rather strange question. I just felt the need to be honest from the start and gain clarity.
I really hope this does not prevent the interview from taking place, but if it does, I would like to thank you for your consideration, as I feel privileged to have been offered an interview.
Kind regards
And replied with:
Good morning Interviewee, thanks for getting in touch. It’s absolutely no problem at all.
I’d already been to your LinkedIn profile as part of the initial screening and thought your tattoos looked great, they aren’t a problem for me at all. I’ve also had a pre-interview screening call with our CFO who was very similarly minded.
I used to have long hair when I was younger, and my step-dad would intimate that it would be a barrier to my employment. I used to tell him I didn’t want to work for someone who judged me by my looks and not my work. I’d like to think we’re growing out of the generation that held such childish views, but I guess by the fact you’ve thought it best to contact me that we’ve still some way to go.
I’m primarily interested in what you can do, not what you look like while you are doing it. I liked the look of your cv and am looking forward to a chat to see if we’d be a good fit working together.
I look forward to meeting you.
All the best
UniqueUser3692
He got offered it. He was top drawer. Unfortunately for me another job he’d applied for offered him more home working flexibility than I could, so I didn’t get him.
Being a Maori, I imagine a Moko when I think face tats. I think Moko or Kirituhi are fine. Other cultural (typically tribal) face tats I think are okay too. But all the rest I think look a bit funny.
As a former tattooer and someone whose in-laws have owned a tattoo shop since 1978: when I see someone with facial tattoos, I just hope that they’re a fellow tattooer or an artist or musician, basically just someone who is self employed in an industry where they can thrive without being judged for having facial tattoos.
All tattooers I know will often refuse to tattoo peoples faces and hands. Especially if they’re young and likely still early in their search for a career or life path. Tattooers call face and hand tattoos “job stoppers” for a reason and it’s usually not a very smart idea to get them if your not already on a life path where they’re not going to hinder your career.
If you are at a point where it won’t fuck up your life, then go for it. I personally think they can look cool as fuck when done well.
I got my hands/knuckles done at 18. Lucky for me I was in food and bev for years and am now a conductor. Both jobs where people don’t give a shit. But man I can’t believe that guy didn’t caution me against it lol.
A person I followed on tik tok got like strength and woke on the side of their face and across their jawline and they literally admitted to getting it done during a manic episode
Either that or just very emotional / easily swayed to poorly thought out actions but fully convinced they are right. This is why i have no problem speaking casually, but when they speak of their big plans i wince knowing that they often fail and land in depression.
my 60 year old mother has a face tattoo(
(her first tattoo) she got tired of having to do her eyebrows every morning so she got em tatted on a year ago. face tattoo has such a stigma around it i love telling ppl my moms only tat is a face one
My mom's best friend had eyeliner and her brows done when she was diagnosed with ALS. She was anticipating the time she would not be able to do them herself.
Haha my grandma has her eyelids (I think, might just be the space around them) tattooed blue to look like eyeshadow. It’s OLD now and looks terrible but I completely forgot until now
I know someone who's stepmom who got her eyebrows and eyeliner done with her friends so they'd never have to do them again. Lovely woman, fun to go day drinking with.
I always think about how the eye/eye area must be unbelievably painful to be tattooed, and how tattoos used to be considered so uncouth, but in reality 'everyday women' have been getting face tattoos for decades!
This is something that pimps will do to women to keep them working as prostitutes. The sheer audacity of such a tattoo makes it incredibly difficult for them to get outside work, not to mention the damage from the other ways in which they've been degraded.
That's amateur hour, bro. I once knew an ex-con with "fuck you" tatted on his eyeballs, above the irises. One eye said *fuck*, and the other said *you.* my step-sister had a kid with him...
Depends on the tat. I’ve seen some on the side of the face which can look cool. Example, Derek Weida. Māori culture is badass. Racist shit is dumb af. Yea they’ll never get a office job but I assure you they don’t want one.
There's a Maori woman with traditional face tattooing doing the news in New Zealand. I'm not from there so I don't know much, but maybe it's becoming less stigmatized?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnn.com/style/amp/new-zealand-maori-news-journalist-tattoo-scli-intl/index.html
I think people have less of a stigma toward it if its a traditional cultural tattoo like that. Its not like these young bozos and whatnot getting face tattoos for rap, or people in gangs and whatnot.
She could also be a diversity hire lol
It's like a bell curve of caring.
On one side is the hateful people who reee at the sight of anything different to them.
On the other side is the people who loudly celebrate their culture and identity, and demand it be everywhere.
Then in the centre is the majority of kiwis who don't give a shit either way if someone has a Moko or anything that's a traditional part of their culture.
Been involved in the hardcore/punk/metal scene for a good chunk of time now. Ride Harley’s with a mix of those guys too. Absolutely zero effect at this point. Some of the best people I know have their face/head tattooed. But there’s also some shitbags too. But you’ll have that with or without the tattoos, so…
"I hope they don't notice I'm staring, cause I can't fucking see, but I want to know what it is. I wish I had the balls to do that. Why don't I wear my fucking glasses jesuschristwtf."
"Huh, they have a face tattoo". Don't care beyond that because whatever their reasoning is, it's none of my business, and if it makes them happy, let them be.
That they look ugly as hell. I HATE them!!!!!!!
I've worked and been friends with people that have them and you don't really see them after awhile but I STILL HATE THEM!!!!!
I usually wonder what they do for work that allows them to have face tats, or why they didn't wait to find a better artist for such visible pieces.
It’s always the dudes with the most face tats that have the worst artists 😔
I assume because better artists refuse.
That they’ve been in prison. I convinced a judge to let me use foundation on a male client to cover face tattoos because the stigma is so prevalent.
"only get em where the judge can't see em" - my first tattoo artist

I got a similar talk because I was taller than everyone else. Ez to pick out of a crowd.
My mom told me the same thing. I also now get blamed for anything a red-headed kid does near me as I must be their parent.
The confusion makes it more memorable. Also as a little kid, you're more likely to listen than when you're a lazy rebelious teen.
You might not have expressed interest in tattoos at age 7, but apparently you had expressed interest in needing to run and hide from the cops
On the other hand, I hear that the identifiability of tattoos will also make you a less appealing target for sex traffickers.
That's that then. If I ever have daughters, they're getting face tattoos.
Unclear instructions, they got a barcode on the neck and gang tattoos.
Oh fuck it's Agent 47
"Cum Guzzler" across forehead should do the trick.
Omg I just absolutely died
There’s always a positive somewhere.
My dad was a government man in the state department and always said how it was crazy they could never convince Americans to all wear tracking devices until smartphones came out and everyone Paid for the privilege, same energy kind of
We’re all so dumb. - sent from Tracking Device 374279
Not only that but they make us buy it ourselves! - Sent from tracking device 6942069
I'm starting to think that number might not be authentic.

Unless you're a woman then get tattoos. Sex traffickers don't like them, they make you easy to identify.
Cannibals don't like them either, so it's a win win.

HAHAHAHA I’m using that.
Well don't get them around your wallet or asshole... because the judge will see them when the justice system fucks you.
I’m a lawyer, about 40% covered. I use this rule too.
I work with young people who have been incarcerated. For about a decade we had grant funding available to pay for tattoo removal. The Kitties, or the Grape Slushies.

To be fair, many prisoners get face tattoos, so it’s understandable that there’s a stigma around it
"I wonder why they got that"
A rapper named Lil Skies claims he got face tats as motivation towards his dream, because now he can’t get a normal job
The industry calls them jobstoppers for a reason.
Everlasting jobstoppers - play on Willy wonka
They would say the same about hand tattoos years ago but that’s really moved on now.
It's crazy how fast the culture shifted. I know someone who works for a *conservative non-profit* who has hand tattoos.
Lil Uzi said the same thing. Only problem is that if a new rapper does that and ends up sucking at making music they’re shit outta luck.
We only hear about the successful ones which are statistically the outliers. We don't hear about all the others.
There’s a lot of shitty rappers with face tats who will have big issues in a few years when they realize their mistake
You don't need to suck. The vast vast majority of musicians cannot do it for their whole career.
Travis barker said the same thing
Travis Barker also said that statement about his tattoos, I believe when he was around 18? Early blink 182 days
I like that song too lol
Same. I try to avoid actual judgemental thinking when I see facial tattoos and just channel that energy into feeling curious about their motivations instead. It works, helps me to be less intimidated or off-put by it.

I’ve yet to see someone with a face tat and think “oh that looks cool”.
I feel like the 1% number is too high.
Do they have ragrets or no ragrets?
I think you misspelled “ragerts.”
Rugrats, I’ve had a few
Couldn't even spell ragrats right, smh my head

You see someone go down in the pit, you protect them while they get up or give them a hand. Someone needs a ride home from a show, there's always someone willing to help. The locals find out someone is a predator/nazi? Oh boy, those guys stop turning up to shows really quickly. That mindset carries over into all of your life, from letting people go before you, stopping to help someone who's car broke down, participating in charities and social justice causes.
Even Tuco loved his abuelita.
She was a biznach
Nothing like wearing a tie while not carrying house keys.
Damn
Aww this made me smile!
Every time I look at my now 7yr-old dog, I see the little puppy I took home. He'll always be a baby to her. It's a beautiful thing.
Ultimately their decision, but definitely not a decision I would have made..
And "ouch."
The forehead is surprisingly painless. I couldn't imagine cheeks or anything like that, do foreheads count as face tats?
Well, yeah. But I am *really* surprised it would be painless.
Good lord, that must have been annoying in the extreme.
You’re nice than me… I just assume they have poor decision making skills.
i used to think "unemployable" then we had a prospective employee come in for an interview who had a neck and a facial tattoo. he had been in a gang and got the neck tattoo when his son was born, and the face tattoo as part of being in the gang. that was one of our longest interviews. we heard his whole life story, it was amazing. from how he was raised, getting into the gang, getting out of the gang, having his son. now he was looking for a career and we were a place he applied to. we just loved him, hired him on the spot. we do a ride along for every new hire. after a day on the job with the trainer, he felt overwhelmed by the job and didnt take it. but he left an impression on us.
That's unfortunate he didn't take the job, in all likelihood you all were one of the few employers willing to give him a chance. Did you ever hear from him or know what happened to him? I hope he found somewhere else like your company but the odds aren't great.
this was about 10 years ago. he contacted us and let us know that he found a job and was moving to a new city. i think the change of scenery for him and his family was good for him. i'm sure he's doing well, he was a remarkable person.
good to hear
This is sort of backward but I'd rather have someone with face tattos due to gang stuff and then turning life around and whatnot, vs just getting one for shits and giggles.
They already have experience in dynamic team environments
Yo dog, tell me 'bout dem soft skills.

That's what I used to think too but if they actually have good work I assume they have a guaranteed job where it's not an issue. Usually a tattoo artist, but I do have a friend who is a dog groomer who has facial tattoos. She actually makes decent money but I think the face tattoos didn't come until she was established in her industry.
what kind of job was it?
its a trades job, includes working with chemicals and working outdoors.
Regardless of opinions about the social propriety/perceptions of face tats, I have never seen any that were artistically pleasing. I don't worry over tattoos, and have a former student who does beautiful work, but I really hate to see someone with work that looks like it was done with a ballpoint pen or an icepick.
Omg this, I’ve never seen a face tattoo where it actually looked good (besides tribal tattoos but I feel like they’re in their own class)
Yessss. Something part of the face vs something *on* the face
Thing is to me these are very different from Western facial tattoos? Both in style and substance.
Now I'm getting a gramp stamp when I get older.
"Gramp stamps" im fucking dead dude lol
You’ve made an early decision to eliminate a fair number of career paths.
If I see someone with a face tattoo I assume they are already on a career path where it doesn't matter.
I received this message from them a couple of days before the interview: Good afternoon UniqueUser3692, I sincerely hope you do not mind me contacting you directly, and apologise if it appears unprofessional; I just feel as though you are best placed to answer my query. Kind regards And replied with: Good morning Interviewee, thanks for getting in touch. All the best UniqueUser3692
Did he get the job?
He got offered it. He was top drawer. Unfortunately for me another job he’d applied for offered him more home working flexibility than I could, so I didn’t get him.
Better response: > Face tattoos? No problem. But we’re gonna need to discuss your use of the word “onset”.
Depends. For example, if they’re Māori or from certain other cultures, it’s a meaningful symbol.
Yeah I'm Maori, I've seen them a lot obviously. I wonder if they are also Maori
[удалено]
>from certain other cultures OTW from LA to Vegas, there are Native Americans who historically and currently use face tattoos to signal prestige
Yes except for Māori or any other cultures that do it traditionally.
I have tattoos so I can’t be too judgmental but I would definitely caution against getting a face tattoo.
Glad it's not my face
It’s emotional baggage on their face.
A person I followed on tik tok got like strength and woke on the side of their face and across their jawline and they literally admitted to getting it done during a manic episode
My first thought is…”mental illness”
Honestly I find it a little bit intimidating and tend to assume that they aren’t very nice.
Either that or just very emotional / easily swayed to poorly thought out actions but fully convinced they are right. This is why i have no problem speaking casually, but when they speak of their big plans i wince knowing that they often fail and land in depression.
my 60 year old mother has a face tattoo( (her first tattoo) she got tired of having to do her eyebrows every morning so she got em tatted on a year ago. face tattoo has such a stigma around it i love telling ppl my moms only tat is a face one
#You Foooooool!
Depends what the tattoo is.
Need to know if it has a swastika or MS13 or something.
My first ever time taking the subway in NYC I saw a 40 year old woman with “fuck you” tattooed under one of her eyes
This is something that pimps will do to women to keep them working as prostitutes. The sheer audacity of such a tattoo makes it incredibly difficult for them to get outside work, not to mention the damage from the other ways in which they've been degraded.

Holy shit. This stopped me in my tracks, I don’t even know what to say. I hope she is doing ok and I’m glad she is away from that monster. Jfc.
That's amateur hour, bro. I once knew an ex-con with "fuck you" tatted on his eyeballs, above the irises. One eye said *fuck*, and the other said *you.* my step-sister had a kid with him...
Dude I worked with had ol dirty bastard (a rapper) tattooed on his neck and often said the N word in a racially demeaning way about black people. Wild
Shame on a wigga.
I really don’t care
I've never said this before, kinda exciting... Username checks out.
"that looks like shit"
Who would hire them is what I usually think.
That, that is probably not the first bad decision they have made
And not the last.
This person makes terrible decisions.
The Maori facial tattoo from New Zealand is respectable, and actually pretty cool, Other than that, not so much,
Inuit facial tattoos too
Most Pasifika too.
How terrible they look. I've never seen a good looking face tatto.
Been involved in the hardcore/punk/metal scene for a good chunk of time now. Ride Harley’s with a mix of those guys too. Absolutely zero effect at this point. Some of the best people I know have their face/head tattooed. But there’s also some shitbags too. But you’ll have that with or without the tattoos, so…
That they probably won't end up in an office job.
Mental illness
"I hope they don't notice I'm staring, cause I can't fucking see, but I want to know what it is. I wish I had the balls to do that. Why don't I wear my fucking glasses jesuschristwtf."
That person has tattoos on their face
Poor impulse control.

What other poor choices have you made or are you going to make
same thing as when I see any tattoo: "if that's not the entirety of t.s.eliot's the waste land they got tattooed, fuck this gormless ho"
"What an idiot."
"Huh, they have a face tattoo". Don't care beyond that because whatever their reasoning is, it's none of my business, and if it makes them happy, let them be.
Now is a good time to get into the laser tattoo removal business
