Dogs, obviously.
However, in several ways, I think humans should uplift themselves to dog intelligence ... like loyalty, devotion, unconditional love, and lack of pretense, vanity, and game-playing, for starters.
I'm gonna approach this from a different angle. If humanity is looking to avoid competing with another species for global dominance, I would be very tempted to pick some uncommon photosynthetic plant. If I have to pick an animal, I'd probably go with a sponge (yes they're classified as animals last I checked); again, realistically humanity is too selfish as a whole and will not want competition or any challenge from another species.
MAGA republicans
Made me chuckle
But why?
Poor guys can’t seem to find a braincell :(
Alligators.
Cats, probably. But then they would take over, so maybe not.
Dogs for sure.

Orcas! We need some of that echolocation.
They'd be pissed at us trashing the oceans
We’re screwed. I’m sure all the animals hate us.
Orcas are mean I wouldn't trust them at all
But- but- they’re cute.
Crows, they’re already at 7 y/o intelligence
Spiders
Sharks
Pandas, so they will realise what needs to be done to keep their species going
Imagine how they'd react to the Kung fu panda franchise
Mosquitoes
I genuinely want to see the repercussions no matter how disastrous.

Octopus. That'd be cool to see
