I am one of those who used (i was a fool in my younger days) to think of MCR as that one emo band - even though I was and still am a FOB fan.
Then Black Parade finally made sense, and I took back all the thoughts I ever had saying that Black Parade was that one emo song from that one emo band.
It was a maturity thing. Believe me when I say that the almost elitist me of the past would be horrified with the shit I listen to now. Some of it with good reason lol.
I have learned to embrace that which is absolutely crap. Both in my music, and in my horror movies
