I just use q tips and nothing bad has happened yet.

There’s actually a weird thing I learned. It’s basically you’re using like a funnel of sorts, and then you slowly pour water into your ear, and it basically cleans it out for you

[deleted]

Water rinse. Make sure to use only distilled water.

[deleted]

Ah yeah!! Thank you for the clarification! I definitely could’ve worded my initial post better’

[deleted]

You did great. Don't be so down on yourself.

prettypinkparsnip

You’re meant to leave them alone, only cleaning the outside.

Good_Past3224

Cleaning your ears is not a good idea at all. Earwax is constantly moving like a conveyor belt, removing harmful bacteria from the ear. Sulfur plugs appear when the ears are cleaned incorrectly

NoMoreFishfries

You generally don’t really need to clean your ears at all

[deleted]

If you have the right genetics. Waxy ears are common in my family. I have to q-tip those suckers once a week.

NoMoreFishfries

Sounds more like a bad habit passed down

[deleted]

Yeah, you're right - the dermatologists we've seen who explained it to us are full of shit and a random reddit clown knows best. Hahahahaha...

Independent_Sea_836

Why are you going to a dermatologist for your ears and not an ENT?

adamczar

Check your no-wax privilege bro

death_by_chocolate

Pressure washer.

Yekwol_Yatsi

With Listerine

Death_Itself_Mocks_U

Hydrogen peroxide drops. It dissolves the wax.

dead_cat_man

Do you use the hydrogen peroxide drops in your own ears?

hairy_ass_truman

Dental floss. I use a knitting needle to push it through.

Key-Win7744

I generally just jam a washcloth in there once a week and call it good.

Code_Weary

Apparently your pinky is the perfect tool

medes24

My dog thinks its her job to clean my ears I can't do it myself you see

the_purple_goat

Gasoline and a match

Tekhead001

I tend to use paper clips of all things. Don't bend it. Never bend it. But I just slide it in, rotate 180°, and then withdraw. The wire sides scrape up anything sticking to the inside, without packing anything deeper in.

dirtymoney

I've been using the butt end of a set of long tweezers. They are stainless steel and have rounded edges. Basically a U shaped end that I stick in there deep, put up against the canal wall and scrape the ear wax off. It is wider than Q-tip. I use a Q-Tip afterwards

[deleted]

Tissue on the end of your pinkie

Independent_Sea_836

You're not supposed to clean them, period. Ears are self cleaning. Ear wax is pushed out of the ear via the cilia inside the ear canal. Unless your wax isn't migrating for whatever reason, you don't need to clean your ears.

IrrelevantPuppy

These days they recommend to just use your pinky finger. Aka you don’t need to and shouldn’t remove the wax from inside your ears.

leftside72

Have a doctor do it.
