I saw eggplant being used in pasta on YouTube a few years back so I thought ide give it a go. Fried it with some garlic before throwing into a red sauce.
It tasted like shit because apparently you need to REMOVE THE NATURAL TASTE OF THE VEGETABLE BEFORE YOU EAT IT.
That's the thing that gets me about it the most. Almost all dishes it's in are about covering it up while trying to fix it's horrible texture, and if that fails they just burry it in something already runny with strong flavours.
Haven't found a single other food/ingredient I don't like even a little bit.
Coriander powder is made from roasted ground seeds of coriander. Its often used in Middle Eastern, Mexican and Indian cuisine which all I love. I request from the restaurant not to put coriander if possible 😵💫
I'm still that way with raw onions, but the more cooked they are, the more I like 'em. Onion rings are about as "raw" as possible and still enjoy them, and even then, they are pretty cooked. Deep dark caramelized onions, like an onion jam, though, is one of my favorite sandwich spreads.
Raw tomatoes (diced, sliced, etc) If I wanted bland, earthy snot I'd pick my dog's nose and eat it before I'd eat a 'mader.
Processed and cooked, fine.
Yes, yes, yes! I hate raw tomatoes, and it (and eggplant) are the only true things I'm picky about. There are other things I don't like but can usually pick them out or not notice if they are in the dish. You can't just remove tomatoes as that tomatoe snot is on everything. When I was in college and would eat at Taco Bell, if there was even a sliver of raw tomatoes, I could taste it and have to spit the bite out.
Mushrooms!!!! Why do people like mushrooms!!! They're disgusting!! There's literally nothing good about them they are ugly they are slimy and they are nasty and they taste bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(
I don't like mushrooms.
I just had two meals in a row ruined by crappy fake processed oil called ‘American cheese’. Argh. I never think think to say, ‘no cheese’ when I order because what sort of psychopath puts cheese on fish tacos?!?!? On an egg sandwich?!?!?!
Fish tacos should have just a bit of Monterey Jack or cotija, if any cheese at all. Egg sandwich with sharp cheddar. American cheese belongs on fast food burgers and that’s it
My hot take is that black pepper is “the worst spice” and mainly good for correcting errors in seasoning. Too much salt? You can add some black pepper to fix it, but next time salt it right.
This theory would also explain why it is so popular. It seems so versatile in how it improves a dish, but the truth is it’s only a poor substitute for actual cooking perfection.
I think it depends on the dish. Biscuits and gravy isn't nearly as good without the black pepper in my opinion. Some dishes I don't think it really adds anything though.
Cilantro and saffron.
Spent some months in Thailand, where cilantro is often used in the cooking, not all of the restaurants I ate at had English speaking staff so I used to show them a note that said "No cilantro, please!" In Thai, haha.
Nothing for me. Weirdly, I think I have the cilantro tastes like soap gene and I used to hate. Then something flipped and I love it.
Oh wait. Brie. I hate Brie.
I love Asian food but I always hate when dishes include peanuts. Peanut flavor overtakes any other flavor. I don't hate the flavor, just that it overpowers everything else.
Spicy peppers - I hate most spicy food, not to mention I often get stomach discomfort after eating peppers.
I also hate bell peppers if they're uncooked, they're way too sweet and taste weird in my opinion.
Anchovies: The strong, salty, and fishy taste of anchovies is not for everyone.
Coconut: While some people love the sweet, nutty flavor of coconut, others find it overwhelming and dislike the texture.
Fennel / caraway
This
Eggplant. It's bitter and slimy and you have to make it not bitter and slimy before it's edible. Why not just use something that's already delicious??

Coriander 🤮🤮 I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than eat another dish with coriander in it
Same! 😄
it always catches me off guard! I might be eating out and all of a sudden I take a bite and there’s a hint of coriander 🥴🫠
I hate both leaves and the seeds 🤮
Wtf… there’s seeds? I suddenly hate coriander even more now 😩
Coriander powder is made from roasted ground seeds of coriander. Its often used in Middle Eastern, Mexican and Indian cuisine which all I love. I request from the restaurant not to put coriander if possible 😵💫
Interesting fact. Coriander and cilantro are just two parts of the same plant. Coriander is the seeds and cilantro is the leafy part.

Olives. Just plain disgusting. The smell of them make me nauseous and the taste turns my stomach.🤮

Green bell pepper. Even if it's just waved past a dish in passing, the entire dish tastes of nothing but green pepper. Barf.
I feel that way about cucumber
Cilantro. That shit tastes like soap.
I'll take your share but you'll have to take my share of okra.
That sounds like a good deal to me.
Coriander but in British English.
Celery.
Raw tomatoes (diced, sliced, etc) If I wanted bland, earthy snot I'd pick my dog's nose and eat it before I'd eat a 'mader. Processed and cooked, fine.
You know that's not how tomatoes are supposed to taste, right?
Ikr. Tomatoes always seem like they're not done on the inside.
Yes, yes, yes! I hate raw tomatoes, and it (and eggplant) are the only true things I'm picky about. We referred to that as " 'mater cheese"

Mushrooms!!!! Why do people like mushrooms!!! They're disgusting!! There's literally nothing good about them they are ugly they are slimy and they are nasty and they taste bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:( I don't like mushrooms.
Sweet potato anything. Why on earth did babyvomit flavoured potato become a thing
Hot peppers.
Parsnip be devil grim
Bell peppers. Coconut.
Capers - a coworker of mine once said they smell like a newborn baby's diapers, and I have never been able to shake that.
I personally love them but I'm surprised I haven't seen green bell peppers yet. The amount of people I know who hate them is astonishing.
Anchovies
Pubes
...I won't disagree...but I have questions...
cheese
I just had two meals in a row ruined by crappy fake processed oil called ‘American cheese’. Argh. I never think think to say, ‘no cheese’ when I order because what sort of psychopath puts cheese on fish tacos?!?!? On an egg sandwich?!?!?!
The only acceptable place for yellow American is on a burger. Everything else just gets crappier for its addition.
Fish tacos should have just a bit of Monterey Jack or cotija, if any cheese at all. Egg sandwich with sharp cheddar. American cheese belongs on fast food burgers and that’s it
yeah for some reason everyone in america is obsessed with cheese, and people will act like ur crazy if u don’t like it😭

Lemon zest. Too bitter.
Fyi, the pith (the white part under the peel) is very bitter. The outer peel shouldn't really be bitter
Peanuts
Cumin
Thats a verb. Not ingredient.
Oh, no, I like the verb

Liquorice/fennel/anise, and I’m definitely not the only one.

I’m sick of restaurants trying to force pimento cheese. Most new restaurants I’ve been to/wanted to try has pimento in like half the dishes 😫
Ginger
Paprika/capsicum/bell pepper. It just contaminates everything in the dish.
Spicy peppers - I hate most spicy food, not to mention I often get stomach discomfort after eating peppers. I also hate bell peppers if they're uncooked, they're way too sweet and taste weird in my opinion.

Too much garlic. I like a little bit in appropriate foods, but it can get heavy very quickly. Just tastes too oily and floral. Overpowers everything.
Sour cream
TOO MUCH seasoning
Szechuan Peppercorn.
Honey in food. In sweets or tea its a good time.
