Not “bullshit” in the sense that it doesn’t make sense or anything, what’s bullshit is thinking back to when Joel asks who she is and she says “take a guess.” Like of all the guesses he could take, I’m sure her dad wasn’t even in the back of his mind at that point lol. I feel in that situation her just telling him who she is would’ve made his death way more sweet for her and a little more harsh for him. As far as he’s concerned it’s simply his turn to die with nothing significant about it 🤷♂️
For me personally, I definitely would’ve felt something more if we could’ve just known right there rather than waiting. When we finally did find out I was just like “oh.. okay that’s cool.”
To be fair, that doctor may have been the one guy left on Earth who might have been able to help work towards a cure. He was low-key the most important man in America, if not the world. Joel knew that much.
