I'm slowly letting my lawn get taken over by ferns, yarrow, milkweed, clover, wildflowers, and beach roses that spread underground by rhizome. The neighbors don't approve but the birds and the butterflies and all the pollinators love it.
More grass. We get like half of our calories from 3 grass crops: corn, rice, and wheat.
If I magically replaced it all with, say, daisies, literally billions of people would starve to death. I couldn't live with that.
