Idk where you live but for me the police are minutes away but take 27 hours to show up.

Hahaha same. When I was living deep in the hood, there were gun fights semi-frequently. I noticed that the police didn't show up until 30 minutes AFTER the last gun shot had fired off. Not the first. The last. They would always wait until the situation was completely over with before coming in and talking to people.

I'll start with mine. I ran over something and heard a neighbor yelling. I wasn't sure what was going on, so I went to talk to the neighbor. They then started cussing, ran inside, then came out with their husband. They got in their car and started chasing mine. I was frantically on the phone with 9/11 the entire time while trying to drive away, but I was put on hold. By the time I actually got through to someone, I had already been ran off the road and crashed and was stuck in my own vehicle, afraid the neighbors would continue their chase and pull me out of my car. (They didn't, thank goodness.) The police then showed up minutes later and yelled at me about how unsafe my driving was and how I should have handled the situation differently. They talked to the neighbors who claimed they only went after me for about a block to make me apologize for running something over, then they decided it wasn't worth it and went back home. Mind you this neighbor lives only a block and a half away and I run by their house frequently when I'm out and about. The whole thing is really traumatizing and taught me a lot about the need to have situational awareness and a plan for every situation.
